This document provides guidance on different aspects of prayer: adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. It includes examples of praying in each aspect. For adoration, it quotes Psalm 23 praising God as a shepherd. For confession, it acknowledges relying on one's own strength rather than God. For thanksgiving, it thanks God for blessings like family and answered prayer. For supplication, it prays for the church, nation, leaders, and listed families to seek God.
As a part of OJC, I was assigned to spend a week meditating on passages regarding the fatherless in Scripture and to hear the Lord's heart concerning this current crisis. The more I asked Father God for revelation about His heart toward the fatherless, the more He kept speaking to me about justice...not just good deeds, but the true justice of Jesus. This is the revelation I received and the presentation I later gave (slightly altered for my wordpress friends!) The sections I spoke are italicized between slides. I ask that the Lord would increase revelation of His heart towards you who were once orphaned and now have been restored...

Renewed in Grace
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.
1. Adoration: Praise for Who God Is by focusing on one of the names or descriptions of God in the Bible. Matt. 6:9
“The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he
leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his
name’s sake.” (Psalm 23) I praise your name, Father, for being my shepherd, for guiding my
footsteps as I surrender my will to yours and seek your face in all circumstances of life. Thank you
for protecting me and caring for me.
Confession: Recognizing our continuing need to repent for sin and seek God’s forgiveness and cleansing. 1 John 1:9
Father, I confess that I am too quick to rely on my own strength in my life. I know that you care for
me and have a plan and purpose for my life. Forgive me for the times that I waiver in my faith and
following, and for the times that I try to go it alone, wandering from your care and guidance.
Offer your confession to the Lord…
Thanksgiving: Thank God for all He has done, direct praise to Him and recognize answered prayer! 1 Thes.5:16-18
Lord, you are good and your mercy endures forever. Thank you for blessing me with an amazing
family, with a new ministry, with great friends, and for keeping me even in the midst of life’s trials.
You alone are worthy of praise! Father, I thank you for being my shepherd, for providing for me
and for carrying me through. It is only in and through you that I am able to live, and move and
have my being. Thank you!
Express your thanks to the Lord…
Supplication: Bringing personal requests and intercession for others before God’s mighty throne. Heb. 4:14-16
God, I pray that we as a body of believers will continually seek your face and your will for our lives
and for the life of our church. I pray for our nation, that we would come to a place of total
surrender to you. I pray for our economy, for our national leaders, for those in positions of power
and authority, that they would seek your face, and that you would give them wisdom and strength
to stand for what is right in your eyes. Thank you; Lord, for hearing our prayers…
Enter the throne room of God and bring your requests before Him with a heart of trust and
dependency…
