In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Adoration: Praise for Who God Is by focusing on one of the names or descriptions of God in the Bible. Matt. 6:9
Jehovah Nissi-The Lord Our Banner. Banners are used to show victory over battles. In Ex. 17:15 Moses and the Israelites
just got down battling the Amalekites. Moses sets up an altar and gives God the name Jehovah-Nissi.
What kinds of battles have you received help from the Lord on? Did you give him praise for what He did? Did you fly God’s
banner over your life after the victory? Take some time and give God some praise for helping you through!
Confession: Recognizing our continuing need to repent for sin and seek God’s forgiveness and cleansing. 1 John 1:9
Everyday there is a spiritual battle going on around us; often times we end up siding with the enemy. I know for a fact that
I don’t do enough confessing, especially when I help the enemy out! Prov. 28:13 says, “He who conceals his sins does not
prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.”
Offer your confession to the Lord…
Thanksgiving: Thank God for all He has done, direct praise to Him and recognize answered prayer! 1 Thes.5:16-18
Now give thanks to God for being there for you and fighting for you. Thank Him for the many victories that have been won
in your life. CHALLENGE-this week as you meet your friends, neighbors, the waiter, the grocery clerk, etc. tell them how
the Lord has brought you through tough times in your life and how thankful you are of Him for rescuing you. By doing this
you will be lifting up God’s banner for the world to see!
Express your thanks to the Lord…
Supplication: Bringing personal requests and intercession for others before God’s mighty throne. Heb. 4:14-16
Pray for the youth mission trips in Warm Springs and Oakland. Pray that many banners will be raised for Jesus because the
influence that the teams will have on the people. Pray for your own life and the strength you need to continue fighting;
pray for Aaron’s and Hur’s (see Ex. 17:8-16) to come into your life and help you battle the battles.
Pray for your family members and friends that don’t know Jesus or have fallen away from Him.
Enter the throne room of God and bring your requests before Him with a heart of trust and
dependency…
Pray for these OCEC families: (Praying for 20 households/week = praying through the church directory every 9 months!)
