3. INTRODUCTION
Muhammad was the founder of Islam. Its full name in Arabic is: Abū l-Qāsim Muḥammad ibn
'Abd Allāh ibn' Abd al-Muttalib ibn Hāšim al-Qurayšī, he was an Arabian Prophet, founder of
the Muslim religion.

He was born in April 22, 571 A.D He died in June 8, 632 A.D

He was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia. He died in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
4. CHILDHOOD
● Muhammad was born outside of Mecca.
● He was born in the year of the elephant.
● He was orphaned at a young age and was
raised by his uncle Abu Talib.
● He became a merchant, married a wealthy
widow and could have followed a life of
tranquility and prosperity.
5. FUNDATION OF ISLAM
● When he was about 40 years old, he claimed
to have experienced a divine revelation while
meditating in a cave outside of Mecca.
● Muhammad claimed that he had been chosen by God, like the
Hebrew prophets who preceded him.
● After an initial period of doubts and fears, he
began to preach to his relatives and then to
the public, to all the residents of Mecca.
6. ● In the year 622, Muhammad and many of
his followers fled to the neighboring city of
Medina. This migration was called the
Hegira. It was the first year of
Muhammad's "reign" as a religious leader.
● Following the custom of the time, later
historians took that year as the beginning
of the Muslim calendar.
● The Koran was dictated by Muhammad,
but according to the Koran, it did not
originate with Muhammad.
7. EXPANSION OF ISLAM
● Muslim conquests in the death following
Muhammad's death led to the creation of the
caliphates, occupying a vast geographical area
● The conversion to Islam was boosted by missionary
activities. These early caliphates, coupled with
Muslim economics and trading and the later
expansion of the Ottoman Empire
● Trading played an important role in the spread of
Islam in several parts of the world, notably southeast
Asia.
8. EXPANSION OF ISLAM
The people of the Islamic world created
numerous sophisticated centers of culture
and science with far-reaching mercantile
networks, travelers, scientists, hunters,
mathematicians, doctors and philosophers,
all contributing to the Golden Age of Islam.
Islamic expansion in South and East Asia
fostered cosmopolitan Muslim cultures in
the Indian subcontinent, Malaysia, Indonesia
and China.
9. MUHAMMAD’S LEGACY
As of 2015, there were 2 billion Muslim,
with one out of four people in the world
being Muslim, making Islam the
second-largest religion in the world. Out
of children born from 2010 to 2015, 31%
were Muslim. Babies born to Muslims
are expected to outnumber those to
Christians by 2035.
10. FINAL YEARS
● After a short illness, Muhammad
died on June 8, 632 in the city of
Medina at the age of 63 years.
● The disease is traditionally
attributed to the ingestion of a
piece of poisoned meat,
prepared by a woman belonging
to a Jewish population of Jáibar.
