  3. 3. Founder of the religion(Muhammad) • Muhammad was born into an important family in Mecca around 570. • An angel tell to Muhammad recite Muslims believe that God had spoken to Muhammad through the angel and had made him a prophet, a person who tells of messages from God.
  4. 4. Map of the Spread of Islam • Islam gradually spread through areas the Muslim conquered. At the same time trade helped spread Islam into other areas as well.
  5. 5. Sources of Islamic Beliefs • The central teaching in Qur’an is that there in only one God-Allah-and that Muhammad is his prophet. • Islam teaches that the world had a definite beginning and will end one day.
