11. Sulphonating
properties
- Reacts with hexane and higher
alkanes forming alkane sulphonic
acid
C6H14 + H2SO4 → C6H13SO3H + H2O
- Reacts with benzene and forms
benzene sulphonic acid
C6H6 + H2SO4 → C6H5SO3H + H2O
