civilized people in Africa
around 5000 BC.

Egypt kingdom was divided into two

7. BELIEFS:
The Egyptians believed in life
after death.
They believed that when they
died their soul (ka) would
continue to live in another
world inside the same bodies.

They built pyramids, mastaba as
tomb, temples and houses.
They did not use iron rods in their
buildings.
The house of the ordinary
Egyptians were built with of dried
bricks.

 Paintings were made to serve the dead.
The themes for their painting were hunting, feasting
and the journey to the dead.
They invented a picture writings called hieroglyphics.
Art forms were governed by strict rules which made
it static.
They started using the grid in drawing.
Their art are like the child art.
They painted men darker than women.
They painted men bigger than women.
They painted prominent peoples bigger than slaves.
They achieved perspective by placing one body
above another.

25. SCULPTURE
Sculpture was made to serve the dead.
Wood ad stones were used.
Statues of men and women were made
to wear wigs.
They made kneeling, seated, standing
and portrait bust.
The feet of the standing ones were
placed forward.
Huge statues (sphinxes) were carved to
protect/guard the pyramid.

protect the dead by using it to
cover the mummies.

They invented paper from the papyrus
reed from plants
They invented the Nilometer to measure
the rise and fall of the river Nile.
They invented calendar.
They invented glaze used on the wares.
They invented a picture writings called
