Pain, suffering and stress can be overwhelming but
it does not have to be this way.
Mindfulness is paradox- being mindful of pain and
worry helps make it dissolve!
Some key ideas
Suffering occurs at two levels - primary suffering arises from unpleasant sensations
felt in the body. Secondary suffering arises from thoughts and feelings arising from the
primary suffering. The pain and distress you actually feel is a fusion of these. This
insight reveals a pathway away from suffering since secondary suffering tends to
dissolve away when you observe it with the mind’s compassionate eye.
Focusing on simple pleasures in the present - a blue sky, the movement of clouds,
the taste of fresh coffee….can increase pleasure in the simple and sustainable things
of life
Be quicker to laugh and slower to anger
