3. Initial Reaction
My initial thoughts regarding the FMP went straight towards an animation/game, this
was because I enjoyed the last project compared to all the others I have done. It was
also because I planned it a lot better that any others and managed to do everything I
wanted within the time limit. I also think that by creating a game/ animation am
allowing myself to be more creative and giving myself mor freedom in the way that I
can change or add anything I want.
Some thing that I want to incorporate either visually/ aurally etc are:
-dark colours (green, purple, red)
-vines/ tombstones/ crows/ rain
-ominous music/ effects (violin, organ, theremin)
- Unknown locations/ sensory. deprivation
6. Mood Board Analysis
In my mood board the colours green, grey and purple were repeated a lot as
all the games I added onto it were all ones that fit my colour scheme, there
were also a lot of similarities between the themes and moods of the games as
they were all โindieโ games. Some of the fonts were similar as well, they were
all blocky and cartoon-ish to fit the aesthetic of their game, it also adds to the
mood of the game by giving you an idea of the genre etc. Using the mood
board will help me with my final project because it gives me an idea of what
colours to use and inspiration for layouts and fonts.
7. Influence/Inspiration
One of the main influences that helped me somewhat finalise
my concept of a psychological horror game was "Doki
Doki Literature club!". When I first played this games ages ago, I
was really drawn to the idea of a really cutesy and wholesome
game being twisted into something dark and disturbing. I think I
took a lot of inspiration from this game was because I really
enjoy foreshadowing in games and initially planned to
incorporate this into my fmp work , another feature that I think
inspired me was that in a way you chose the ending, or just
helped decide which way it went. This w cool to me as it almost
made you feel guilty for the evens that happened.
8. Influence/Inspiration
Another game that inspired me was a survival horror game called
identity v which is very similar in concept to dead by daylight. I
really enjoy this game because I like the thrill of either winning
or loosing and I think that because it is aa more 'tactical' game it
inspired me a lot too because once again your actions/choices
can change how the entire gam goes. I think that the tactical part
inspired me mostly however though because I like having the
player decide their own fate from a number of options. I also
really like the ragdoll theme and character designs in the game
so I would like to have a similar theme.
9. Influence/Inspiration
Another thing that inspired me was an anime called magical girl
site. I really liked how before you start it you think it is a
wholesome anime about young girls with magical
powers however once you start the first episode you are met
with a dark storyline and gruesome themes. This is another, one
of many things I like that start off cutesy but turn into a dark,
horrific story.
10. Skills Audit
As of now I am confident in m skills to fully
prepare for production and to plan all the steps I
need to do. Since my last project was the same
concept, im also confident in my ability to crate
a smoother looking game/animation and
creating an interesting looking atmosphere and
characters.
11. Why are you making this project?
I am making my project in the form of a game/
animation because it was the topic that I
enjoyed the most out of all my work this year. I
decided to go with a more dark, โscarierโ theme
this time round since when we were doing
adventure before I chose to do a more cuter and
โfeminineโ theme with a simplistic concept and
storyline.
12. Hopes for the FMP
My hoped for my fmp are to create a smooth,
unflawed animation/game with a loading
screen, mid game screen, a character select
screen and a pause screen. I also would like to
finish all PowerPoints before my project
13. Strengths and Limitations
I think that my strong point for this fmp is
creating backgrounds and characters that look
visually appealing and g well together to fit into
a set theme. One of my limitations will be
working under a deadline as I get overwhelmed
and burnt out easily when it comes to pressure.
14. Potential Research Activities
To gain mor knowledge for my fmp I could:
-watch photoshop tutorials
-watch how other people create games
-how people add music thatโs fitting
-timing
