2. Title Sequence
A title sequence is the first sequence of a film, it has
titles over the top of the film which show us the name
of the actors etc.
Normally, a title sequence will use continuity editing
not montage editing. They do this so that they
audience can start to make sense of the film, where as
montage would confuse them a little.
The purpose of a title sequence is to introduce
characters in the film and to let the audience get a feel
for the film, but they also use this time to show the
audience the name of actors and so on
3. Trailer
A trailer is a series of scenes that are put together
which show us a little bit of the film. It tends to show
us what the film is about. Most trailers are used to get a
target audience to watch the whole film.
Most trailers will use a montage editing, but within the
montage editing they will use small amounts of
continuity editing. They do this to show a small scene
using continuity editing, then they use montage
editing to cut to another small scene using continuity
editing etc.
4. Differences between the two.
A trailer uses montage editing where as a title
sequence doesn’t.
A trailer could only last for a few minutes but a title
sequence could last from 2-5 minutes.
A trailer is a teaser for a audience and it tries to get
them to watch the film, where a title sequence looks
the audience into watching the rest of the film.
A trailer is lots of parts of the film put together in a
non linear way, where a title sequence is in a order.
