What is the difference between film opening sequences and film trailers
1. What is the difference between film opening sequences and
film trailers?
Opening sequences usually show only a couple or few different settings scenes, and the
start of an already viewing film or they are completely animated with no scene from the film
at all. This is to state the actors or actresses names, the director and names of other
important people that helped to make the film, such as the producer and costumes crew.
These sequences are not normally very long, usually just over a minute, to build up
anticipation and the atmosphere of the following film.
Whereas a film trailer is a combined montage of scenes (usually the some of the ‘best bits’),
this allows the viewer to get an insight of the film. This entices the viewer, often with the
use of enigma codes to wanting to go and see the film, Often the trailer will end on a cliff
hanger in order to do so. It will make clear what genre the film is. These are shown in the
cinema and are put online, such as YouTube to attract viewers.
However, they are many similarities, such as; you usually see the main character first, its
engaging and it connotes the genre of the film.
