Islamic Beliefs And Practices Through Mysticism
Sufism is the esoteric dimension of Islam which focuses on intensification of Islamic beliefs and practices through mysticism. The ultimate goal of
Sufis is to attain mystical union with God through asceticism and love. Rumi was a religious figure whose encounter with love transformed him from
an accomplished teacher and scholar into an ascetic. Love is a spiritual experience that can only be known inwardly, through conscience and
feelings, but cannot be expressed in words. The book, The Essential Rumi, shows how love is the only way to selflessly experience God. It
emphasizes how it is crucial for a person to realize that they are no different from the person they love in order to attain the truth of divine knowledge.
The book also shows how Sufism has an identity of its own and is different from traditional Islam. The main theme of Rumi's poetry is the longing and
quest for union with the divine. For Rumi, true love is in God and human love is an illusion to the all–encompassing divine love. Love is the way that
ultimately leads one to the beloved. He says that, although everything is the beloved and the lover is just a myth, love is actually an illusion that
directs us to the divine. This is seen when he talks about why people should stop worrying about everything else and only remember that love
describes God and is the key mystic element of creation (Rumi 3 and 29). For Rumi love is about completely submitting to the beloved by having
utmost faith in him/her

The Great Gatsby In the post WWI, people create a brand new life with peace, pleasure and plenty of new commodities. People enjoy the colorful
entertainment and convenient life. Riots and weapons seem to disappear forever. Musics fly like birds, tell the story about this era's prosperity.
People are indulge in the delusion of external peace. But behind the surface of the pleasure, the inner concept of this era is actually frivolity,
decadence and the corruption of society. All of social problems is hiding in the shadow. Darkness actually exists and spread in some places people
can't see. In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald portrayed a sorrowful love story, reflect the people's illusion, expose lies between relationships and
desires for money while hinting at the corruption of the society. This love tragedy occurs in the upper class during the Roaring Twenties which "[are]
years of rapid economic growth"(Roaring Twenties1). It's not a personal tragedy, it's actually a time tragedy which the society accomplishes. The
tragedy is also an allusion to the corruption of society. Nick was the protagonist who describe the whole story revolved around the distorted
relationship between Gatsby, Daisy and Tom form his personal perspective. He expresses his disappointment about people's indifference and
hopelessness. The period of 1920s is ambivalent with both pleasure and decadence. After the

Love Is The Most Powerful Emotion
I choose to write my paper on what's love? Do you know what love is? Why do we ask what love is? Love can be many of things people have their
own opinions of love and what love actually is. Love is not only intimate.
As a person first falls in love at least a thousand brain parts start to light up. The brain release hormones, feelings and butterflies. Love is also loving a
person unconditionally no matter what. Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. In today's society it's hard for people to
know what true love is. At times I ask myself why it is so hard to find love. I believe the word love is abused. When people use the word love it is used
as an expression of affection towards someone else. For example, I love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When humans are going steady in receiving love and giving love, we don't ponder such philosophical questions. It's usually when something is
lacking or not the same we begin to contemplate what that thing really is. For, example nobody goes to subway and ask what's a sub. So, when we
ask what is love? We don't fell loved all the way or someone feel we don't love them all the way. So accord to the Chabad post the real question you
should be asking is "Am I loved?" or "Do I love?" These are the two main reasons people ask what's love. It's easier to ask what love is rather than
am I loved. When we the people are loved we tend to feel it in our guts. How does love really work though? In fact it's really not as complicated as
it sound, but the truth is our hearts take cues from our senses. Everything we feel, touch, smell, and hear is in touch with the universe and teaches
use about the universe. So some things we just don't need to question. Our sensory organs send messages to the brain, and our brain read the
messages and send the message to our heart. "So, if we see a loving smile, hear loving words, or feel a loving touch, the brain processes this
information and concludes, "Hey, we are being loved right now!"
Love can also be letting someone go. Love don't mean you own the person or mean that's your possession. For

The Positive Impact Of Life Lessons And Life Changing Books
Nowadays we all have heard the phrase "Not everything that is learned is contained from books". Which means that we can have life lessons and life
changing books touch our hearts. Creating a possitive impact on us creating a state of happiness. ThatВґs why I'll talk about this topics in my essay to
prove, you can actually have the best of both worlds, lessons you acquire from books and life lessons as well. So let's start by changing the topic to;
information learned from books becomes useful while living.
Nobody denies books can be great friends but we can't also deny that life is your biggest one. In general high school students like me spend from 12 to
14 hours of the day studying, reading, learning or doing some homework, which means you have a little bit about two hours to actually live after
subtracting 8 hours of good sleep to work efficiently. This leaves no room to learn about love, there's so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example reading the Bible, yes, of course the only way of actually understanding the Bible is to live according to it. Otherwise it's just a huge book
filled with really hard instructions to follow. But, if you read it and interpret it wisely it could be the way of leaving a happy and peaceful life. And it
could also be the guide to get to heaven. ThereВґs also a book that changed the way I thought about love and reaffirmed some thoughts I had about that
topic which is Everyday by David Levithan. In which he presents a different type of love, eternal and mind–blowing kind of love. Which I define as
falling in love with another's soul. Which made me believe true love exists. And also the first book I fell in love with which is La Mosca Dragon
written by Arturo Monterroso in which I first realized reading wasn't boring certainly not at all in contras it was a lot of fun. And from it I also
learned that I had to fall in love with my country which is

Is It Real Or Is?
Is It Real or is it Fake? That is the Question
(Favorite Sonnet) What is love? Is love a feeling that you get when you see someone? Is love a pitter–patter that you get in your chest when the person
you are head over heels for walks into the room? Is love the breath being sucked out of your lungs and your heart skipping a beat or five hundred
when your significant other walks into the room and looks you dead in the eye? But, love could not even be a feeling, and it could actually be a choice.
Maybe people don't actually fall in love. Maybe they choose to love someone. Yet, not just anyone. That's a hard question to answer. But another hard
question to answer is what love is. It's easy to define what love is not. Oddly enough, Shakespeare is able to answer both of these questions in fourteen
lines with iambic pentameter with a perfect rhyme scheme. It's amazing. He does this in Sonnet 116. This was my favorite poem because it stated that
love is perfect and unchanging, it doesn't end with death, and because it is not susceptible to time itself. First, I really loved this sonnet because it
described how love is perfect and unchanging. That is a wonderful thought. The fact that love can actually be perfect in a world of imperfect things is
astonishing. There really is no perfect things in this world, and to have one solid thing makes live worth living in a sense. I have always believed that
you cannot fully love unless you have God in your heart and in your relationship.

An Analysis Of John Marcher 's ' The Great Gatsby '
Both of the characters in this story are clods because they make decisions based on others and never make decisions for themselves. Who wastes their
life fearing the unknown, and who wastes their life on a guy who is afraid of commitment. Living one's life in such fear that they can't be happy; its
pure insanity. Even though they are both incredibly stupid, it is difficult to defy what your heart wants and overcomefear. Fear is something that holds
many people back, but when you actually meet someone who brings the best out of you it's easy to overcome this fear. To overcome something that
scares you, one must be willing to put themselves out there and try new things to overcome this fear. In this story, John Marcher lacked the willingness
and drive to overcome his fears, and in the end he needed up wasting his entire life and not enjoying what life gave him, giving him the title of stupid.
Throughout the entire story, the reader can see just how stupid John actually is. He reunites with a girl who he finds "extremely handsome," and
connects well with her but never allows it to blossom into a relationship. They stay close friends the entire story, and May knows John' secret fears
and she never tells a soul. She gives him her trust, but he can't find the courage or strength to give his trust to her. One can tell that May wants more
from the relationship, but she accepts John's stupidly just to keep him in her life. She stayed with him because she felt she could help him

Narcissism In William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night
In many of Shakespeare's sonnets, he emphasizes the subjective experience of love; however, he never wallows in his feelings to a conceited extent.
Actually, he labels narcissism as incompatible with real love in some of his other sonnets and in his comedy Twelfth Night. Although his narcissistic
characters, especially Malvolio, Orsino (from his comedy), and the Young Man (from his sonnets), believe themselves to be experiencing passion, their
foolish self–indulgence inhibits them from finding true love, as it causes them to act contrary to nature and mistaking other desires as love. Conversely,
other characters not blocked by vanity, like Viola and the Speaker of the Sonnets, can find actual love, since they correctly understand themselves...

never tells of his love for Olivia, but only says that he knew that Olivia loved him. When he goes to woo, Olivia rightly declares his behavior to be
"midsummer madness" (III, iv, 58). Malvolio did not truly love Olivia, but only saw her as a tool to legitimize and to increase his narcissism with an
increased social status. By rejecting his advances, Olivia metaphorically declares his want of a marriage based on external benefits and not mutual love
(i.e. one in which Malvolio receives all the power and the love and does not have to give anything to the other person) to be completely

Peace And Love By Charles Fishman Analysis
Charles Fishman a knowledgeable critique of the water crisis around the world understands that water is the most essential asset to a human being.
Fishman argues in his Novel, The Big Thirst about waters necessity to human life. In his quote, "It is one of the ironies of our relationship to water that
the moment it becomes unavailable, the moment it really disappears––that's when water becomes most urgently visible." can be related to a wide
variety of topics that humans manage to take for granted when it runs out. Peace and Love relate to this quote for many reasons because they can both

Twelfth Night By William Shakespeare
Shakespeare's play, "Twelfth Night" provides a great deal of insight into gender roles, gender identities, and desire in Elizabethan society. In
Shakespearean times, women, and to a much lesser extent, men, were subject to a variety of arbitrary limitations based solely on gender. For example,
women could not become actresses, and were practically required to have guardians and protectors. Additionally, both men and women were strictly
held to separate sets of explicit standards, expectations and values. These roles that people of each gender were held to were very important to
developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Those who violated these norms would have generally been looked down upon, or even
insulted, especially by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In "Twelfth Night" a number of relationships exist and develop between the various characters. Unbeknownst to most of these characters, at least until
the final scene of the play, there are a few people among them who are not as they appear. Viola, a woman shipwrecked in a foreign land without a
protector, disguises herself as a man, and begins calling herself Cesario. This disguise fools everyone she meets in Illyria. In fact, it fools one woman,
Lady Olivia, so well that she eventually falls in love with Cesario. Some might argue that she actually loves Viola, however this is not the case.
Olivia is in love with her perception of the man Cesario. She does not love the reality of the woman Viola. When it is revealed that Viola is a
woman, Olivia directs her affection towards Sebastian, who fulfills her desire to be with a man. To further explain why Olivia loves Cesario and not
Viola, consider the letter Maria wrote for Malvolio. Maria tricks Malvolio into thinking that Olivia loves him. Analogously, Viola tricks Olivia into
thinking she loves Cesario. Obviously, Malvolio does not think that Maria loves him, even though she is the author of the letter, and likewise, Olivia
does not think that she loves Viola, even though Viola is the one pretending to be Cesario. Count Orsino similarly faces the reality that

To What Extent Is Romeo And Juliet A Comedy
Romeo and Juliet the Comedy
What if the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet was actually supposed to be a comedy? Yes, the story that ends with love so sincere that death was the
final resort actually being a comedy. It probably sounds crazy but, there are some serious points backing it up. Like the fact that pretty much everyone
back in that time period was crazy considering that they thought draining someone's blood would save them from sickness! The three main reasons
why I believe Romeo and Juliet to be a comedy are the light mood shown in the begging of the play, the overly dramatized love relationship, and
looking at it through a modern view.
The play introduces Romeo as a young man in love with a woman whom he can't marry because she wants to become a nun. He says ... Show more

Now, for this last argument I am just going to discuss the figurative language and clothing of that time period. The way that they spoke back then
was mostly word play. It wasn't as clear and concise as we speak now. They made every sentence as complex as they could possibly make it when it
really could easily could just be summed up in a few words. Next is the clothing the guys wore back then, tights. There are a lot of things that guys
should not wear and tights are one of them. It is a different situation when you wear shorts over then while you exercise but just straight tights is too far.
Although Romeo and Juliet may not have been made with the intention of bringing laughter to people hundreds of year in the future, it's hard to deny
the amusement it can bring to us through its confusing language and odd clothing. It really depends on your personality whether or not you believe it
to be a comedy or not. Though I do feel that the light mood in the beginning, over dramatic love, and odd language and clothing are good reasons that
this tragic story is actually a love

Romeo And Juliet Young Love Deceptive Analysis
In the play Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare shows that young love is deceptive.
Shakespeare does this by noting how Romeo and Juliet do not actually love each other. This is represented by Romeo and Juliets actions and rash
decision making. Their decisions are very impulsive and rushed. As a result, it will impact them badly in the near future and as well as their
relationship. Romeo and Juliet's love for each other is not actually how we view love as. They've mistakenly confused love for lust. Their "love" for
each other leads them to get married in secrecy. Although, only knowing each other for barely a couple of hours. Neither of them told their parents.
The only people that know about the marriage are the nurse, Friar Lawrence, Romeo, and Juliet. William Shakespeare displays this by, "Three
words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed. / If that thy bent of love be honorable, / Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow / By one that I'll
procure to come to thee / Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite, / And all my fortunes at thy foot I'll lay /
And follow thee my lord throughout the world" (A. 2 s.2 l. 142–148). In this statement by Shakespeare he explains how Romeo and Juliet, barely
knowing each other's name have already thought about getting married. Hence, demonstrating how rushed they actually are. This is not well thought
ethier. Thus, eventually leading them into a major problem. William shakespeare demonstrates that, "These violent delights

Was Romeo And Juliet Really In Love?
In Shakespeare's famous play "Romeo and Juliet", two kids around the age of 14 fall "in love" with each other, despite the fact that their families are
enemies. This love that they feel drives them to do insane things, such as commit suicide for each other. Was this feeling really love, though? People
can have many opinions on whether or not Romeo and Juliet were really in love. Romeo and Juliet were not actually in love because they were too
young and immature, they had only been together for a few days, and Juliet's family was an influence. Romeo and Juliet were not in love because they
were too young and immature to know what love really is. In the play, Romeo had just been through a breakup with his ex–girlfriend Rosaline. During

True love takes time. You have to actually get to know someone to determine if you love them or not. During the dance after Romeo and Juliet first
talk to each other, Juliet says "My only love sprung from my only hate!...That I must love a loathed enemy," (Shakespeare 138 and 141). This
shows that Juliet had felt love for Romeo before she even knew who he was, or what family he came from. It's hard to love someone when you don't
even know their name. In today's society, that would be like a girl spotting a hot guy in public and going crazy over him when she doesn't even know
who he is. After one day, Romeo goes to Friar and says "Save what thou must combine by holy marriage," (Shakespeare 60–61). He wants to marry
Juliet. They had only met a night before. According to study on eharmony.com, "...happily married couples dated for about 25 months before getting
married...unhappily married couples married too soon..." This means that Romeo and Juliet are rushing into their relationship too soon, and they could
turn into an unhappy couple realizing that they were never really in

Twelfth Night Essay
The main focus of Shakespeare's romantic comedy The Twelfth Night is, fittingly, love. Despite the fact that the play ends in happiness, and marriage,
the characters are not always this happy throughout the entire play. Love seems to be a curse in this play rather than a blessing, and it may seem that
love causes more problems than it solves most of the time. All of the characters in Twelfth Night are affected by love in some way, and most of the
time it is not the "right" love. For example, the main plot of the play is the love triangle between Olivia, Violet, and Duke Orsino. This love
triangle causes mass chaos and confusion for the characters, mainly because of the misunderstandings. At the start of the play, Orsino is in love
with Olivia, who is mourning her brother, and has no interest in the duke. In turn, Viola, who is in disguise as eunuch named Cesario is in love
with Orsino. To round out the triangle, Olivia is in love with Viola, who she believes is really Cesario. The misunderstandings love causes for
Orsino, Olivia, and Viola may even cause more suffering than happiness, despite the fact that the play ends in marriages. Duke Orsino opens the
play with the line "If music be the food of love, play on" (act 1 line 1). Orsino believes that love is the grandest, most important thing in life, and he
takes it very seriously. He describes it as an appetite he needs to sate, but can't. Orsino is in love with Olivia, a young lady of noble birth who is

William Shakespeare 's ' Much Ado About Nothing '
Shakespeare was a very famous playwright in the 1500's. He started off as an actor in 1590 and he worked his way up to being a shareholder; which
means that he owned a proportion of the company and he could still be a part in the plays. Later in 1599 when The Globe Theater was built, he moved
there and was a shareholder. During these times he wrote several plays for the theater. Some of these include Much Ado about Nothing,Twelfth Night,
Love's Labour's Lost, and A Midsummer 's Night's Dream. In the year 1600, Shakespeare wrote the play Much Ado about Nothing. Later the
following year, in 1601, Shakespeare wrote a Twelfth Night. In many ways these two plays are similar with the aspects of the differences of power

So Malvolio thinks Olivia actually loves him. He goes to Olivia and professes his love for her. She, having no clue about this plan, thinks that
Malvolio is mad. She got the other servants to come and take him away from her. This example shows that even though Olivia, being the upper class
figure in this situation, and having the control to remove Malvolio, it was the servants that caused the ordeal to take place. This reveals that the lower
class has power. It may not be as obvious as living in a mansion with servants, money, and authority, but they can still alter situations even when not in
full complete power.
Now, compare that to the situation in Much Ado about Nothing. Although the Main Characters are predominantly apart of the royal family, that didn
't stop Don John from making Claudio believe that Hero was unfaithful. He used Borachio to make love to Margaret, Hero's servant, in Hero's
bedroom window. Don John got Don Pedro and Claudio to witness this account. Don John is not one of the plays central characters, but he
completely twisted and changed the plot. He deceived the two men as well as the whole rest of the royal family making them all believe that Hero was
having an affair.
That being said, leads to the next comparison which is betrayal. In both plays there is a major betrayal that takes place. In the Twelfth Night, Sebastian
was saved from the shipwreck by Antonio. Antonio cares so much for Sebastian that he followed him

Sonnet 138 Figurative Language
In Sonnet 138, the poet's use of figurative language and diction help to communicate the idea that although lovers may tell small lies to each other, the
best part about love is still trusting the other person.
Through the use of metaphor, hyperbole, and personification (all figurative language), the author is able to communicate his theme. IFigurative
language is used throughout the poem, for instance in the first line when the lover (the dark lady) swears she is "made of truth." She isn't literally made
of truth, she's exaggerating, but it helps her to solidate her statement and try to reassure the speaker that she's telling the truth. Despite this lie, the
speaker still loves her. Another example of figurative language in thissonnet is

Is Romeo And Juliet Love Or Lust?

Romeo & Juliet Love? Or Lust?
What is love? Love is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection. Some people can love for the wrong reasons. In the play "Romeo and Juliet" by
William Shakespeare this happens to both Romeo and Juliet. Their love was too passionate and there are many reasons to prove their love was for all
the wrong reasons. Firstly, they were too young to know what love really is, they are just teenagers, and everyone knows teenagers make foolish
decisions. Secondly, they fell in love to promptly, they knew each other for less than 24 hours. They met at the party and got married that following
day. Lastly, they knew the dangers, but still went ahead knowing these dangers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then within 24 hours they got married! Secretly, with the help of Friar Lawrence. 24 hours is not enough time to get to know someone. Clearly
they only knew each other's names, they did not know anything about their family histories besides the Capulets being rich, and they knew nothing
about each other. Now when you are a teenager your parents control a majority of your life. The reason Juliet loves Romeo even more is because
her parents are forcing and pressuring her into getting married, and when you are young and someone forbids you to do something, you want to do it
even more. This plays a factor on why she actually loves Romeo and can't stop thinking about him. Another reason Juliet is so in love with Romeo is
that their eyes met from across the room and they felt something, and when you are young that can be enough to spark a flame. Friar Lawrence told
Romeo about this, Friar stated "Young men's love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes" (3.2.67–68). On the other hand the reason they
had to have a marriage quickly and in private is because Romeo is not liken by Juliet's family, but 24 hours is still not enough time to actually get to

William Shakespeare 's Romeo And Juliet
Shakespeare is thought to be on of the most superior playwrights in history as proven throughout Romeo and Juliet. Although this may seem like a play
just about the Montagues and Capulets detesting one another and their teen children loving one another, it's about so much more. Throughout the play,
Shakespeare starts off with a simple explanation of love through Romeo's eyes yet as the play proceeds on, it's obvious that Shakespeare actually had
another meaning of love in mind for Romeo. As confusing as this seems, it's rather simple for one to wrap their mind around when reading the
complex words of Shakespeare. Written no less that 400 years ago, the words of Shakespeare are still well known by high school teenage students

This means that Rosaline is beautiful but it will all be for nothing because when she dies, her beauty will go to as with her virginity because she plans
to remain chaste forever and to never be in a relationship – crushing Romeo's dreams of being with her. This quote from Romeo shows that he is only
really looking at Rosaline's beauty and admiring it, not her personality, which isn't really love. This may entail that Romeo isn't actually in love
with her, but with the idea of being in love. Another hint at this can be described in Act I, Scene 5 when Romeo not only states yet proclaims,
"Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." When he's speaking of Juliet. All of a sudden, Rosaline is
expelled from Romeo's mind and, just by a glance at Juliet, Romeo is infatuated with her. This is meant to show the theme of love but one can easily
argue that it's not Romeo falling in love. Not yet at least. Romeo's first acts of true love aren't until later on in the play but Shakespeare used Act I to
set the scene and lay the theme of love into the listeners (and now readers,) minds.
The first time that it's hinted that Romeo might actually find true interest in Juliet and not interest in her beauty or interest in just being in love is in
Act II, the balcony scene. In Act II Scene 2, Romeo says, "But, soft! What light through yonder window breaks? It is the east, and Juliet is the sun.

The Character Of Ghosts In 'Another Fine Mess' By Ray...
"Another Fine Mess" is a horror short story written by Ray Bradbury. It is about two women, Bella and Zelda, who are old and feel inadequate and
insecure about themselves. It can also be implied from the story that they are in fact seeking love. Bella overhears some men talking to each other on
the stairs of her new apartment everyday. She calls her close friend Zelda and they come to know that these men are indeed the ghosts of Ollie and
Stanley (Television actors). The story reveals that these ghosts are actually seeking love like Bella and Zelda. Bella and Zelda help these ghosts realize
that they are still being loved and are not forgotten. The topic of this essay is "How doppelgangers are employed to reveal the protagonist's
character?". The ghosts in this story felt that they are not loved anymore and Bella and Zelda also felt the same thing and also, Bella and Zelda were
totally aware of how the ghosts felt, meaning that in one way or the other the ghost were doppelgangers of the protagonists of the story. That is how
Ray Bradbury is using ghosts as doppelgangers to reveal the protagonist's character. Bella had just moved in her new apartment a few days ago. The
author uses "old house on an old street with an old staircase" (393) to describe the apartment. This is actually a metaphor for Bella's old age. He also
used "it was all new to her" (393) implying that this old age was new to Bella and she was not used to not being appreciated. She

Chaucer's Tale: Comparing The Book And Movie
They were both good stories and got the point across but one was definitely better than the other. Chaucer did a great job creating this different tale,
nobody has made a story quite like Chaucer. The producer also did a great job creating the movie trying to follow Chaucer's tale with some alterations.
The movie and the story have some similarities but they also have some differences. Personally, I think the story did a better job telling the story. In the
actual tale, the two men, Palamon and Arcite, were knights and cousins and they fell in love with the same girl. The men actually were prisoners of the
King. First Palamon fell in love with the king's sister–in–law, Emily, and then Arcite fell in love with her. They fought for her love even though she

wins the world champions tournament. There are some similarities between the two stories. The tale and the movie both have somebody that fell in

they loved. The knights in the movie and in the tale fought for what they

To What Extent Are Romeo And Juliet Still Relevant Today
Romeo and Juliet, one of the greatest pieces of literature of all time, written by William Shakespeare, conveys messages that are timeless and still
relevant today. The play is an example of why one could agree that teenagers do not understand what true love really is. Shakespeare depicts Romeo
being driven by lust and desire over women rather than the true motivation of actually getting to know and spend time with another woman. In fact,
Romeo treats love for granted and seems to look for women just out of pleasure and thus does not understand what true love actually is.
To start off, Romeo is completely devastated over a young woman who he admires, named Rosaline, but has discovered that Rosaline sworn not to love
another man. Romeo talks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Romeo, unwilling to move on from Rosaline, responds to Benvolio, questioning "One fairer than my love? The all–seeing sun / Ne'er saw her match
since first the world begun" (1.3.99–100). Romeo does not understand what love really is because of his deceitful devotion to a woman who he
admires out of beauty rather than personality. Romeo realizes that Rosaline would be attending the Capulet party, so he is willing to risk getting
caught as a Montague just to see Rosaline. The scene at the party shows why Romeo's love is nothing but fake. Romeo ends up forgetting about
Rosaline during the party when dancing with a girl named Juliet. Romeo's love for Juliet should be no different from his love for Rosaline since
Romeo had instantly fell in love with Juliet as he did with Rosaline. Romeo arrives to talk to Juliet in the balcony scene after the party, and Juliet
tells Romeo "My only love sprung from my only hate!...Prodigious birth of love it is to me / That I must love a loathed enemy" (1.5.155). Juliet is
aware that Romeo, is the son of Montague, whose family are in a feud with the Capulets, which is Juliet's parents. This meant that that the Montagues
and Capulets would be devastated if they found out the love affair between Romeo and Juliet,

The Importance Of Love And Peace
How important do you think Peace and Love is? Peace and Love makes a better world, some people will look at this and be like, "what?" Do you think
love and peace can make people have more positive vibes? Can love and peace make the world understand each other more? Can love and peace put an
end to war? Can love and peace make more equality in this world? Can love and peace make the world worse in any way? Why aren't we as peaceful
and positive as we should be? What is the power of hatred? Let's talk about love and peace. Why can it make a better world you ask? It's Simple, have
you ever watched a movie where the world is a Utopia? Yea, well i'm not saying we should make the world so called "Perfect" but one thing for sure is
that we should copy the peace and love that they show a lot in those Utopian movies. If we do, then we all can be united here in this world. Just
Imagine, a world where it can be 100% peaceful and where we can all love each other.
Love and peace can make a person have great positive vibes according to psychologists at http://www.outofstress.com/attract–positive–energy/ , article
written by Sen Kemp on the date of 3/23/09. Sen Kemp, author and CEO of OutOfStress Incorporated stated "Making peace and love with each
other can make one have positive vibes ". The reason he said this was because he has done a ton of research and tests that actually prove when you
agree to peace and love for all, great things come out from your soul. He said making one think about love and peace makes their soul happier and
makes the person do great things for other people. Sen Kemp has also said that when people like this are in the world we can get attracted by their
positivity and also become more positive than negative. It's also an example of how they say " You can tell what a man or woman is like just by
knowing what their friends are like".
Do you think love and peace can make people understand each other more? Research at NYU has shown that people that have a peaceful soul tend to
reach out to people more to hear about their problems and understand them and also give advice. Research at NYU also states that people with peaceful
souls also tend to understand anyone and their problems instead

Daisy's Relationship In The Great Gatsby
It is very clear in the text that Gatsby is only in love with the idea of loving Daisy, but does not actually love her. Gatsby creates this imagined reality
of the connection he shares with Daisy that doesn't actually exist. Sure, maybe at one point the connection was there, many years ago when they first
established it, but it has died and he just refuses to see that. I believe that Gatsby believes that he is in love with Daisy, I even believe that after a while
Daisy believes that she still reciprocates these feelings as well. This being said, no matter how hard both of them push for this connection mentally and
emotionally, their actions speak louder than their dreams.
The best indicator in the story to prove Gatsby's dreams of Daisy were alive, but the reality was dead, is the first encounter they had after all those
years and fantasies. Before actually meeting, Gatsby becomes all panicked and flustered because it's finally happening, the grand reunion he had
planned for the longest time is finally taking place. Gatsby knew exactly how he wanted everything to go and feel, yet the actual reunion was lacking
any sort of satisfaction. This is because the grand idea of her that he had planted in his head was nothing that any women could live up to. As the
story proceeds, their relationship seems to stay in the same realm, except now Daisy is also fantasizing the idea of Gatsby. I think Daisy's reasons ...

Analysis Of Love Actually By Richard Curtis
The movie Love Actually (2003) by Richard Curtis demonstrates how the connections between people are limitless and that love is a concept that has
the ability to lift people up and tear people down. The movie follows the lives of nine different relationships and the audience is able to see every
aspect of love, romantic, platonic, familial and more. In an article by Ben Dreyfuss, he points out that most critics of the film point like to say that
Love Actually "is a saccharine soulless picture that relies on an emotionally manipulative soundtrack and has nothing to say but somehow takes 136
minutes to say it" (Dreyfuss). However, that is not the case. This movie has had a lot of controversy since the release in 2003. In this paper I ... Show

This film does a great job of showing that not all loves are happy and pleasant all the time. In an article written by Seija Rankin, she points out that
"people do refer to their desired relationships in the context of popular films". (Rankin) This is a reason why this film is so important, especially in
today's culture of romanticizing everything. People need to see real world examples of what love looks like. They need to be aware that love does
not always go right, and everything is not always flowers and daisies. While the Prime minister and Natalie's story worked out, not everyone in the
films did.
Love Actually is just that, portraying love as in actually is. Not just the pleasant happily ever side but also what happens after happily ever after.
For example, the story of Juliet, Peter, and Mark. Joliet and Peter get married at the beginning of the film and Mark is the best man. Juliet has
always had the impression that Mark did not like her as he never really made any attempts to get closer to her or get to know her in any way.
Through a series of event Juliet finds out that Mark has actually been in love with her the entire time. Once she finds this out at the end of the film
Mark shows up and tells her yes, he is in love with her, but he knows that they can not be together. This highlights the unhappy sides to love. When

I Love Figurative Language
The common theme throughout the book is about loving this girl with all you have. It goes through the feelings of love and heartbreaks, along with
the feeling of exhilaration. The poem's overall setting is in a person's mind, or a viewpoint of how this person feels and is going through. There are
many conflicts that happen throughout this poem and just some of those happen to be that the view of this person is going through a heartbreak which
is later told through the journey of the book how it feels and why they are so hurt.
The author's mood and tone throughout the book is the romance of love, the heartbreak of love, what happens throughout life with love. I know this

Due to the fact that many things said are not to be taken too literally and it over exaggerated. Like when said, "Break my heart, and you will find

actually breaking from it. This quote from the book means how this person has loved and given so much to this other person that they begin to love
them with all of their hearts. And the phrase is a saying where if they were to break their heart open they couldn't find anything but the person. Due to

their heart and or breaks up with them there would be nothing left in their heart for them to find but themselves since they invested so much time and

The Different Types Of Love In Shakespeare's Twelfth Night
Love is an ambiguous term that depicts a variety of emotional and mental states. Depending on the person, love can mean different things. True love is
generally represented as something sudden and irresistible. It is based on inner qualities and centered on making the other person happy. However,
infatuation is insincere and driven by emotions. It is a state of being completely carried away by unreasonable passion or love that is short–lived. In
William Shakespeare's romantic comedy Twelfth Night, the play consisted of many love triangles and complex characters that are tangled up in the
idea of love. In every work written by Shakespeare, an important concept is conveyed, but never truly resolved for the audience. Instead, he leaves the
questions unanswered by surrounding the play with humor, chaos, and a happy ending. In "The Different Types of Love Presented in William
Shakespeare's Twelfth Night" and "William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night", both essays express the idea that Shakespeare paints a vague picture of
romance and infatuation through the use of Orsino and Olivia. Although there were moments where the audience would confuse Orsino's and Olivia's
feelings as true love, the main points of both essays were that their love was infatuation to satisfy their own needs. Initially, the audience may be
confused with what Shakespeare is trying to depict. However, through the analysis of both essays, it is discovered that Shakespeare shifts the attention

The Importance Of Love In The Nonviolent Movement
So, what is love? Love can mean many things to people. However, is there only one definition? There are many different types of love you can have.
For example, having love for your pet can be completely different compared to having love for your family members or spouse, which begs the
question; how important is love in the nonviolence movement? A very important person involved with the nonviolent movement is Martin Luther
King Jr. I will be explaining his thoughts, and views on love. I will also be explaining the thoughts of Gandhi and his prospective on love. The
arguments I will be making in this paper are, is love a necessity needed to fight alongside nonviolent protesters? Also, will loving our enemies really
help the fight in what we believe in against our enemies? There are many aspects to nonviolence, but according to Martin Luther King love is one of
the most important.
Dr. Martin Luther King has always used his way of explaining love with hate. He says that hate scars the soul. In other words, hating our enemies
is hurting us in a way. Yes, it is very hard to turn the other cheek to a person that is being very hateful and disrespectful towards you. However, I
believe he is saying do not hate the person, hate their actions. One thing I definitely agree with King is when he said "Loving our enemies is the only
force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend" in his writing of Loving Your Enemies. I agree with him because this point does make a lot of
sense. If

A person may search their whole life for love. Some are lucky enough to find the perfect someone, and some are not. The one's who are not as lucky

A person would think of the statement about the East and West to be referring to the difference between Song and Gallimard. Song knows that
Gallimard wants to be masculine, and that he wants a feminine woman. He feels that if she is weak, that he would feel more in power. Knowing
this, Song fulfills his fantasy and is everything that Gallimard desires. Gallimard exclaims in the play, "You have changed my life forever. My little
Butterfly, there should be no more secrets: I love you" (40). In turn, the diplomat becomes obsessed with the idea of having a powerless female by his
side.
The question of whether Gallimard actually knows that Song is actually a woman is never officially answered in the book. Throughout the book,
Gallimard has his own suspicions about whether Song is actually a man. Yet he is in thrived with his idea of being in control of a woman like Song.
Though Song is deceiving Gallimard about her true gender, Song has feelings for Gallimard deep inside that would not let him break his chains of
silence that bound their love that in truth was deceitful.
At the beginning of the play, Song writes a letter to Gallimard telling him that she has "already given [him her] shame," (35) her shame pertaining to
the fact that Gallimard will not respond to any of her letters. By Song saying this, a reader would feel that Gallimard feels the

Love's Vocabulary Diane Ackerman Analysis
In the essay "Love's Vocabulary", Diane Ackerman explains that the one emotion of love is far more intricate because there are more emotions
invited. The analogy comparing a batik to love is used to explain that love is filled with a variety of emotions, like how a batik is filled with a variety
of colors. The variety of emotions in which are actually a mess of emotions condensed into the one whole emotion of love. This complicates love
because such emotions simply do not correspond with love. For instance, it would be bizarre to see Anger as a form of Love, then again it is actually a
form of love because anger is caused by it. The positive connotations of words such as "love" and "colors" reveal a passionate tone, in which is used by

William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: Infatuation or Love?
The play Romeo and Juliet has been considered to be the most touching love story of all time, but when you look closer and past all the initial
"fantasies", you see the truth. Romeo and Juliet believed that they were in love because of the mere idea of it, however based on their actions and the
short amount of time that the stages of their "love" progressed in, it soon became clear that what they were actually feeling was infatuation.
Romeo, you see, may have possibly convinced himself that he loved Juliet. We all know that our friends do influence our decisions, and Benvolio's
constant nagging about finding a new love may have taken its toll on Romeo.
"Be ruled of me, forget to think of her." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 25.)
"Go thither; and, with unattained eye,
Compare her face with some I shall show,
And I will make thee think thy swan a crow." (Act 1, Scene 2. Pg. 35.)
Not only the day before, had Romeo been in love with another girl, Rosaline. We can clearly see this when Romeo says:
"Out of her favour, where I am in love." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 21.)
"In sadness, cousin. I do love a woman." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 23.)
However, when Romeo attends a ball for simply the fact that Rosaline would have been there, he sees Juliet and instantly 'falls in love'. Sure, we
have all heard of the popular saying "It was love at first sight", but how much of us really believe it? For how many of us does this actually apply to?

All three sources claim that love at first sight is real. By using science and experiments, this claim can be backed up with evidence. Some people
believe that love at first sight is real, while others don't really believe it. It usually takes time to get to know someone and fall in love, but love at first
sight may actually occur in a situation. In the video "Does Love at First Sight Exist?", it is scientifically explained that love at first sight may actually
exist. During the video, the man explained a really detailed description of how the brain plays a role in this claim. By using drawings, these
explanations seemed more understandable because we were able to see where these certains parts of the brain were. It stated that we base our love
interests mainly on their physical appearance first and not their personality. This shows that love at first sight exists and that it should be further
researched. This video's explanations are really strong and are easy to understand and all. With the examples and drawings, it gives us an even better

Love Actually (2003), is a romantic comedy/drama that combines over ten romantic tales in one. What makes this a unique 'chick flick' is that all of
these individual stories have different love styles and relationship types. The movie links these characters together in a series of touching and comedic
romances, which end in not one, but many idealistic climaxes on Christmas Eve. The theme of the movie is an elaboration of the title, "Love Actually Is

What We Talk About When We Talk About Love
In Raymond Carver's "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love" there was one theme that was consistent throughout the whole story. It is that
not one of the four characters of the story could explain what love is. Each character in the story each had their own ideas to what they wanted love to
be but not what it actually was. Whether it was suicidal love, abusive love, or just physical love, each person in the story held fast to what they
believed love to be, even if they could not explain why.

But these actions only maintain the anonymous of love rather than unmask it. To me they are not talking about love but of lust. Much like Mel said,
they are still in that honeymoon stage, AKA having lots of sex. When the physical part of it dies down then the real test of love will be there.
Of the four, Terri, seems to be most confused about the meaning of love and repeatedly states that her abusive ex–boyfriend, Ed, actually loved her, in
spite of his irrational way of showing it. But like the others she cannot explain as to why her idea of love is correct. Instead she spends a lot of time
defending her ex–boyfriend who was somewhat crazy in my eyes. This tells me that none of the characters truly know what love is.
In a story with a great amount of chatting, nothing much actually gets said in "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love." We've got the
typical and average kissing, holding hands, and saying "I love you." All of these are ways in which the characters use the language of love to
communicate their affections. But somehow, this language all seems insufficient as the darkness falls on the couples and the gin slowly disappears. At
the end of the day, words fail to define the meaning of love, and the characters struggle to say just what they mean, if they even know what they mean
in the first place.
Another thing in this story that sticks out to me is the drinking that is done. As the characters grow more and more drunk, their conversations become

Islamic Mysticism And Rumi's Views On Divine Love

  • 1. Islamic Beliefs And Practices Through Mysticism Sufism is the esoteric dimension of Islam which focuses on intensification of Islamic beliefs and practices through mysticism. The ultimate goal of Sufis is to attain mystical union with God through asceticism and love. Rumi was a religious figure whose encounter with love transformed him from an accomplished teacher and scholar into an ascetic. Love is a spiritual experience that can only be known inwardly, through conscience and feelings, but cannot be expressed in words. The book, The Essential Rumi, shows how love is the only way to selflessly experience God. It emphasizes how it is crucial for a person to realize that they are no different from the person they love in order to attain the truth of divine knowledge. The book also shows how Sufism has an identity of its own and is different from traditional Islam. The main theme of Rumi's poetry is the longing and quest for union with the divine. For Rumi, true love is in God and human love is an illusion to the all–encompassing divine love. Love is the way that ultimately leads one to the beloved. He says that, although everything is the beloved and the lover is just a myth, love is actually an illusion that directs us to the divine. This is seen when he talks about why people should stop worrying about everything else and only remember that love describes God and is the key mystic element of creation (Rumi 3 and 29). For Rumi love is about completely submitting to the beloved by having utmost faith in him/her ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. The Great Gatsby By F. Scott Fitzgerald Zhenyou Liu Mrs.Minchella English11 Date due: Tuesday, November 24, 2015 The Great Gatsby In the post WWI, people create a brand new life with peace, pleasure and plenty of new commodities. People enjoy the colorful entertainment and convenient life. Riots and weapons seem to disappear forever. Musics fly like birds, tell the story about this era's prosperity. People are indulge in the delusion of external peace. But behind the surface of the pleasure, the inner concept of this era is actually frivolity, decadence and the corruption of society. All of social problems is hiding in the shadow. Darkness actually exists and spread in some places people can't see. In The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald portrayed a sorrowful love story, reflect the people's illusion, expose lies between relationships and desires for money while hinting at the corruption of the society. This love tragedy occurs in the upper class during the Roaring Twenties which "[are] years of rapid economic growth"(Roaring Twenties1). It's not a personal tragedy, it's actually a time tragedy which the society accomplishes. The tragedy is also an allusion to the corruption of society. Nick was the protagonist who describe the whole story revolved around the distorted relationship between Gatsby, Daisy and Tom form his personal perspective. He expresses his disappointment about people's indifference and hopelessness. The period of 1920s is ambivalent with both pleasure and decadence. After the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Love Is The Most Powerful Emotion I choose to write my paper on what's love? Do you know what love is? Why do we ask what love is? Love can be many of things people have their own opinions of love and what love actually is. Love is not only intimate. As a person first falls in love at least a thousand brain parts start to light up. The brain release hormones, feelings and butterflies. Love is also loving a person unconditionally no matter what. Love is the most powerful emotion a human being can experience. In today's society it's hard for people to know what true love is. At times I ask myself why it is so hard to find love. I believe the word love is abused. When people use the word love it is used as an expression of affection towards someone else. For example, I love ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When humans are going steady in receiving love and giving love, we don't ponder such philosophical questions. It's usually when something is lacking or not the same we begin to contemplate what that thing really is. For, example nobody goes to subway and ask what's a sub. So, when we ask what is love? We don't fell loved all the way or someone feel we don't love them all the way. So accord to the Chabad post the real question you should be asking is "Am I loved?" or "Do I love?" These are the two main reasons people ask what's love. It's easier to ask what love is rather than am I loved. When we the people are loved we tend to feel it in our guts. How does love really work though? In fact it's really not as complicated as it sound, but the truth is our hearts take cues from our senses. Everything we feel, touch, smell, and hear is in touch with the universe and teaches use about the universe. So some things we just don't need to question. Our sensory organs send messages to the brain, and our brain read the messages and send the message to our heart. "So, if we see a loving smile, hear loving words, or feel a loving touch, the brain processes this information and concludes, "Hey, we are being loved right now!" Love can also be letting someone go. Love don't mean you own the person or mean that's your possession. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Positive Impact Of Life Lessons And Life Changing Books Nowadays we all have heard the phrase "Not everything that is learned is contained from books". Which means that we can have life lessons and life changing books touch our hearts. Creating a possitive impact on us creating a state of happiness. ThatВґs why I'll talk about this topics in my essay to prove, you can actually have the best of both worlds, lessons you acquire from books and life lessons as well. So let's start by changing the topic to; information learned from books becomes useful while living. Nobody denies books can be great friends but we can't also deny that life is your biggest one. In general high school students like me spend from 12 to 14 hours of the day studying, reading, learning or doing some homework, which means you have a little bit about two hours to actually live after subtracting 8 hours of good sleep to work efficiently. This leaves no room to learn about love, there's so much ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example reading the Bible, yes, of course the only way of actually understanding the Bible is to live according to it. Otherwise it's just a huge book filled with really hard instructions to follow. But, if you read it and interpret it wisely it could be the way of leaving a happy and peaceful life. And it could also be the guide to get to heaven. ThereВґs also a book that changed the way I thought about love and reaffirmed some thoughts I had about that topic which is Everyday by David Levithan. In which he presents a different type of love, eternal and mind–blowing kind of love. Which I define as falling in love with another's soul. Which made me believe true love exists. And also the first book I fell in love with which is La Mosca Dragon written by Arturo Monterroso in which I first realized reading wasn't boring certainly not at all in contras it was a lot of fun. And from it I also learned that I had to fall in love with my country which is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Is It Real Or Is? Is It Real or is it Fake? That is the Question (Favorite Sonnet) What is love? Is love a feeling that you get when you see someone? Is love a pitter–patter that you get in your chest when the person you are head over heels for walks into the room? Is love the breath being sucked out of your lungs and your heart skipping a beat or five hundred when your significant other walks into the room and looks you dead in the eye? But, love could not even be a feeling, and it could actually be a choice. Maybe people don't actually fall in love. Maybe they choose to love someone. Yet, not just anyone. That's a hard question to answer. But another hard question to answer is what love is. It's easy to define what love is not. Oddly enough, Shakespeare is able to answer both of these questions in fourteen lines with iambic pentameter with a perfect rhyme scheme. It's amazing. He does this in Sonnet 116. This was my favorite poem because it stated that love is perfect and unchanging, it doesn't end with death, and because it is not susceptible to time itself. First, I really loved this sonnet because it described how love is perfect and unchanging. That is a wonderful thought. The fact that love can actually be perfect in a world of imperfect things is astonishing. There really is no perfect things in this world, and to have one solid thing makes live worth living in a sense. I have always believed that you cannot fully love unless you have God in your heart and in your relationship. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. An Analysis Of John Marcher 's ' The Great Gatsby ' Both of the characters in this story are clods because they make decisions based on others and never make decisions for themselves. Who wastes their life fearing the unknown, and who wastes their life on a guy who is afraid of commitment. Living one's life in such fear that they can't be happy; its pure insanity. Even though they are both incredibly stupid, it is difficult to defy what your heart wants and overcomefear. Fear is something that holds many people back, but when you actually meet someone who brings the best out of you it's easy to overcome this fear. To overcome something that scares you, one must be willing to put themselves out there and try new things to overcome this fear. In this story, John Marcher lacked the willingness and drive to overcome his fears, and in the end he needed up wasting his entire life and not enjoying what life gave him, giving him the title of stupid. Throughout the entire story, the reader can see just how stupid John actually is. He reunites with a girl who he finds "extremely handsome," and connects well with her but never allows it to blossom into a relationship. They stay close friends the entire story, and May knows John' secret fears and she never tells a soul. She gives him her trust, but he can't find the courage or strength to give his trust to her. One can tell that May wants more from the relationship, but she accepts John's stupidly just to keep him in her life. She stayed with him because she felt she could help him ... • 7. Narcissism In William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night In many of Shakespeare's sonnets, he emphasizes the subjective experience of love; however, he never wallows in his feelings to a conceited extent. Actually, he labels narcissism as incompatible with real love in some of his other sonnets and in his comedy Twelfth Night. Although his narcissistic characters, especially Malvolio, Orsino (from his comedy), and the Young Man (from his sonnets), believe themselves to be experiencing passion, their foolish self–indulgence inhibits them from finding true love, as it causes them to act contrary to nature and mistaking other desires as love. Conversely, other characters not blocked by vanity, like Viola and the Speaker of the Sonnets, can find actual love, since they correctly understand themselves... In his reaction to the letter, he never tells of his love for Olivia, but only says that he knew that Olivia loved him. When he goes to woo, Olivia rightly declares his behavior to be "midsummer madness" (III, iv, 58). Malvolio did not truly love Olivia, but only saw her as a tool to legitimize and to increase his narcissism with an increased social status. By rejecting his advances, Olivia metaphorically declares his want of a marriage based on external benefits and not mutual love (i.e. one in which Malvolio receives all the power and the love and does not have to give anything to the other person) to be completely ... Fishman argues in his Novel, The Big Thirst about waters necessity to human life. In his quote, "It is one of the ironies of our relationship to water that the moment it becomes unavailable, the moment it really disappears––that's when water becomes most urgently visible." can be related to a wide variety of topics that humans manage to take for granted when it runs out. • 9. Twelfth Night By William Shakespeare Shakespeare's play, "Twelfth Night" provides a great deal of insight into gender roles, gender identities, and desire in Elizabethan society. In Shakespearean times, women, and to a much lesser extent, men, were subject to a variety of arbitrary limitations based solely on gender. For example, women could not become actresses, and were practically required to have guardians and protectors. Additionally, both men and women were strictly held to separate sets of explicit standards, expectations and values. These roles that people of each gender were held to were very important to developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships. Those who violated these norms would have generally been looked down upon, or even insulted, especially by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In "Twelfth Night" a number of relationships exist and develop between the various characters. Unbeknownst to most of these characters, at least until the final scene of the play, there are a few people among them who are not as they appear. Viola, a woman shipwrecked in a foreign land without a protector, disguises herself as a man, and begins calling herself Cesario. This disguise fools everyone she meets in Illyria. In fact, it fools one woman, Lady Olivia, so well that she eventually falls in love with Cesario. Some might argue that she actually loves Viola, however this is not the case. Olivia is in love with her perception of the man Cesario. She does not love the reality of the woman Viola. When it is revealed that Viola is a woman, Olivia directs her affection towards Sebastian, who fulfills her desire to be with a man. To further explain why Olivia loves Cesario and not Viola, consider the letter Maria wrote for Malvolio. Maria tricks Malvolio into thinking that Olivia loves him. Analogously, Viola tricks Olivia into thinking she loves Cesario. Obviously, Malvolio does not think that Maria loves him, even though she is the author of the letter, and likewise, Olivia does not think that she loves Viola, even though Viola is the one pretending to be Cesario. Count Orsino similarly faces the reality that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. To What Extent Is Romeo And Juliet A Comedy Romeo and Juliet the Comedy What if the classic tale of Romeo and Juliet was actually supposed to be a comedy? Yes, the story that ends with love so sincere that death was the final resort actually being a comedy. It probably sounds crazy but, there are some serious points backing it up. Like the fact that pretty much everyone back in that time period was crazy considering that they thought draining someone's blood would save them from sickness! The three main reasons why I believe Romeo and Juliet to be a comedy are the light mood shown in the begging of the play, the overly dramatized love relationship, and looking at it through a modern view. The play introduces Romeo as a young man in love with a woman whom he can't marry because she wants to become a nun. He says ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now, for this last argument I am just going to discuss the figurative language and clothing of that time period. The way that they spoke back then was mostly word play. It wasn't as clear and concise as we speak now. They made every sentence as complex as they could possibly make it when it really could easily could just be summed up in a few words. Next is the clothing the guys wore back then, tights. There are a lot of things that guys should not wear and tights are one of them. It is a different situation when you wear shorts over then while you exercise but just straight tights is too far. Although Romeo and Juliet may not have been made with the intention of bringing laughter to people hundreds of year in the future, it's hard to deny the amusement it can bring to us through its confusing language and odd clothing. It really depends on your personality whether or not you believe it to be a comedy or not. Though I do feel that the light mood in the beginning, over dramatic love, and odd language and clothing are good reasons that this tragic story is actually a love ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

If he is thinking about you when he is away from you and he tells you this, then you do need to believe him. • 12. Romeo And Juliet Young Love Deceptive Analysis In the play Romeo and Juliet William Shakespeare shows that young love is deceptive. Shakespeare does this by noting how Romeo and Juliet do not actually love each other. This is represented by Romeo and Juliets actions and rash decision making. Their decisions are very impulsive and rushed. As a result, it will impact them badly in the near future and as well as their relationship. Romeo and Juliet's love for each other is not actually how we view love as. They've mistakenly confused love for lust. Their "love" for each other leads them to get married in secrecy. Although, only knowing each other for barely a couple of hours. Neither of them told their parents. The only people that know about the marriage are the nurse, Friar Lawrence, Romeo, and Juliet. William Shakespeare displays this by, "Three words, dear Romeo, and good night indeed. / If that thy bent of love be honorable, / Thy purpose marriage, send me word tomorrow / By one that I'll procure to come to thee / Where and what time thou wilt perform the rite, / And all my fortunes at thy foot I'll lay / And follow thee my lord throughout the world" (A. 2 s.2 l. 142–148). In this statement by Shakespeare he explains how Romeo and Juliet, barely knowing each other's name have already thought about getting married. Hence, demonstrating how rushed they actually are. This is not well thought ethier. Thus, eventually leading them into a major problem. William shakespeare demonstrates that, "These violent delights ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Shakespeare's famous play "Romeo and Juliet", two kids around the age of 14 fall "in love" with each other, despite the fact that their families are enemies. This love that they feel drives them to do insane things, such as commit suicide for each other. Was this feeling really love, though? People can have many opinions on whether or not Romeo and Juliet were really in love. Romeo and Juliet were not actually in love because they were too young and immature, they had only been together for a few days, and Juliet's family was an influence. You have to actually get to know someone to determine if you love them or not. During the dance after Romeo and Juliet first talk to each other, Juliet says "My only love sprung from my only hate!...That I must love a loathed enemy," (Shakespeare 138 and 141). This shows that Juliet had felt love for Romeo before she even knew who he was, or what family he came from. It's hard to love someone when you don't even know their name. In today's society, that would be like a girl spotting a hot guy in public and going crazy over him when she doesn't even know who he is. After one day, Romeo goes to Friar and says "Save what thou must combine by holy marriage," (Shakespeare 60–61). He wants to marry Juliet. They had only met a night before. • 14. Twelfth Night Essay The main focus of Shakespeare's romantic comedy The Twelfth Night is, fittingly, love. Despite the fact that the play ends in happiness, and marriage, the characters are not always this happy throughout the entire play. Love seems to be a curse in this play rather than a blessing, and it may seem that love causes more problems than it solves most of the time. All of the characters in Twelfth Night are affected by love in some way, and most of the time it is not the "right" love. For example, the main plot of the play is the love triangle between Olivia, Violet, and Duke Orsino. This love triangle causes mass chaos and confusion for the characters, mainly because of the misunderstandings. At the start of the play, Orsino is in love with Olivia, who is mourning her brother, and has no interest in the duke. In turn, Viola, who is in disguise as eunuch named Cesario is in love with Orsino. To round out the triangle, Olivia is in love with Viola, who she believes is really Cesario. The misunderstandings love causes for Orsino, Olivia, and Viola may even cause more suffering than happiness, despite the fact that the play ends in marriages. Duke Orsino opens the play with the line "If music be the food of love, play on" (act 1 line 1). Orsino believes that love is the grandest, most important thing in life, and he takes it very seriously. He describes it as an appetite he needs to sate, but can't. • 15. William Shakespeare 's ' Much Ado About Nothing ' Shakespeare was a very famous playwright in the 1500's. He started off as an actor in 1590 and he worked his way up to being a shareholder; which means that he owned a proportion of the company and he could still be a part in the plays. Later in 1599 when The Globe Theater was built, he moved there and was a shareholder. During these times he wrote several plays for the theater. Some of these include Much Ado about Nothing,Twelfth Night, Love's Labour's Lost, and A Midsummer 's Night's Dream. In the year 1600, Shakespeare wrote the play Much Ado about Nothing. She, having no clue about this plan, thinks that Malvolio is mad. She got the other servants to come and take him away from her. This example shows that even though Olivia, being the upper class figure in this situation, and having the control to remove Malvolio, it was the servants that caused the ordeal to take place. This reveals that the lower class has power. It may not be as obvious as living in a mansion with servants, money, and authority, but they can still alter situations even when not in full complete power. Now, compare that to the situation in Much Ado about Nothing. Although the Main Characters are predominantly apart of the royal family, that didn 't stop Don John from making Claudio believe that Hero was unfaithful. He used Borachio to make love to Margaret, Hero's servant, in Hero's bedroom window. Don John got Don Pedro and Claudio to witness this account. Don John is not one of the plays central characters, but he completely twisted and changed the plot. He deceived the two men as well as the whole rest of the royal family making them all believe that Hero was having an affair. That being said, leads to the next comparison which is betrayal. Sonnet 138 Figurative Language In Sonnet 138, the poet's use of figurative language and diction help to communicate the idea that although lovers may tell small lies to each other, the best part about love is still trusting the other person. Through the use of metaphor, hyperbole, and personification (all figurative language), the author is able to communicate his theme. IFigurative language is used throughout the poem, for instance in the first line when the lover (the dark lady) swears she is "made of truth." • 17. Is Romeo And Juliet Love Or Lust? Rehman, Mahad Eng – 2D1 Mr. Thompson April 20, 2016 Romeo & Juliet Love? Or Lust? What is love? Love is defined as an intense feeling of deep affection. Some people can love for the wrong reasons. In the play "Romeo and Juliet" by William Shakespeare this happens to both Romeo and Juliet. Their love was too passionate and there are many reasons to prove their love was for all the wrong reasons. Firstly, they were too young to know what love really is, they are just teenagers, and everyone knows teenagers make foolish decisions. Secondly, they fell in love to promptly, they knew each other for less than 24 hours. They met at the party and got married that following day. Lastly, they knew the dangers, but still went ahead knowing these dangers,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then within 24 hours they got married! Secretly, with the help of Friar Lawrence. 24 hours is not enough time to get to know someone. Clearly they only knew each other's names, they did not know anything about their family histories besides the Capulets being rich, and they knew nothing about each other. Now when you are a teenager your parents control a majority of your life. The reason Juliet loves Romeo even more is because her parents are forcing and pressuring her into getting married, and when you are young and someone forbids you to do something, you want to do it even more. This plays a factor on why she actually loves Romeo and can't stop thinking about him. Another reason Juliet is so in love with Romeo is that their eyes met from across the room and they felt something, and when you are young that can be enough to spark a flame. Friar Lawrence told Romeo about this, Friar stated "Young men's love then lies not truly in their hearts, but in their eyes" (3.2.67–68). On the other hand the reason they had to have a marriage quickly and in private is because Romeo is not liken by Juliet's family, but 24 hours is still not enough time to actually get to know ... Although this may seem like a play just about the Montagues and Capulets detesting one another and their teen children loving one another, it's about so much more. Throughout the play, Shakespeare starts off with a simple explanation of love through Romeo's eyes yet as the play proceeds on, it's obvious that Shakespeare actually had another meaning of love in mind for Romeo. As confusing as this seems, it's rather simple for one to wrap their mind around when reading the complex words of Shakespeare. This means that Rosaline is beautiful but it will all be for nothing because when she dies, her beauty will go to as with her virginity because she plans to remain chaste forever and to never be in a relationship – crushing Romeo's dreams of being with her. This quote from Romeo shows that he is only really looking at Rosaline's beauty and admiring it, not her personality, which isn't really love. This may entail that Romeo isn't actually in love with her, but with the idea of being in love. Another hint at this can be described in Act I, Scene 5 when Romeo not only states yet proclaims, "Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! For I ne'er saw true beauty till this night." When he's speaking of Juliet. All of a sudden, Rosaline is expelled from Romeo's mind and, just by a glance at Juliet, Romeo is infatuated with her. This is meant to show the theme of love but one can easily argue that it's not Romeo falling in love. Not yet at least. Romeo's first acts of true love aren't until later on in the play but Shakespeare used Act I to set the scene and lay the theme of love into the listeners (and now readers,) minds. The first time that it's hinted that Romeo might actually find true interest in Juliet and not interest in her beauty or interest in just being in love is in Act II, the balcony scene. • 19. The Character Of Ghosts In 'Another Fine Mess' By Ray... "Another Fine Mess" is a horror short story written by Ray Bradbury. It is about two women, Bella and Zelda, who are old and feel inadequate and insecure about themselves. It can also be implied from the story that they are in fact seeking love. Bella overhears some men talking to each other on the stairs of her new apartment everyday. She calls her close friend Zelda and they come to know that these men are indeed the ghosts of Ollie and Stanley (Television actors). The story reveals that these ghosts are actually seeking love like Bella and Zelda. Bella and Zelda help these ghosts realize that they are still being loved and are not forgotten. The topic of this essay is "How doppelgangers are employed to reveal the protagonist's character?". The ghosts in this story felt that they are not loved anymore and Bella and Zelda also felt the same thing and also, Bella and Zelda were totally aware of how the ghosts felt, meaning that in one way or the other the ghost were doppelgangers of the protagonists of the story. That is how Ray Bradbury is using ghosts as doppelgangers to reveal the protagonist's character. Bella had just moved in her new apartment a few days ago. The author uses "old house on an old street with an old staircase" (393) to describe the apartment. This is actually a metaphor for Bella's old age. He also used "it was all new to her" (393) implying that this old age was new to Bella and she was not used to not being appreciated. She ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The play is an example of why one could agree that teenagers do not understand what true love really is. Shakespeare depicts Romeo being driven by lust and desire over women rather than the true motivation of actually getting to know and spend time with another woman. Romeo realizes that Rosaline would be attending the Capulet party, so he is willing to risk getting caught as a Montague just to see Rosaline. The scene at the party shows why Romeo's love is nothing but fake. Romeo ends up forgetting about Rosaline during the party when dancing with a girl named Juliet. Depending on the person, love can mean different things. True love is generally represented as something sudden and irresistible. It is based on inner qualities and centered on making the other person happy. However, infatuation is insincere and driven by emotions. It is a state of being completely carried away by unreasonable passion or love that is short–lived. In William Shakespeare's romantic comedy Twelfth Night, the play consisted of many love triangles and complex characters that are tangled up in the idea of love. • 33. Compare And Contrast Letter And Mr. Collins Proposal Within both passages two men discuss marriage with one actually proposing and the other just discussing his reasons for proposing. Through their use of rhetorical devices and diction, these men try to give their hearts to two different women. Unfortunately one of these men will be broken hearted while the other will live with his sweetheart for the rest of his life. Mr. Collins proposal is an extremely bad one. His reasons are so that a "clergyman like [himself] can set an example" "to add very greatly to [his] happiness'" and because Miss de Brough said so. These reasons are so selfish it makes the proposal horrible. Mr. Collins then goes on and on about Lady de Brough leading the reader to assume that he would rather propose to her than to his cousin. This is semi–confirmed when you read that "[her] wit and vivacity must be acceptable to her . . . tempered with the silence and respect." This tells the reader that his wife ... He uses phrases such as "I would try hard" allow the reader to truly understand the love he has for his sweetheart. His diction is also superior to that of Mr. Collins such as "overmasters" and "tremendous attraction" continues to help his case that he loves this woman with all of his heart. He also states that if she were to say no that it would be the "ruin of [him]." He goes on and mentions that "[his] reputation stands high and would be a shield for [hers]." He shows that he would protect his loved one with all he has. The last word being earnest sums up this entire proposal because that is what it is earnest unlike Mr. ... A person would think of the statement about the East and West to be referring to the difference between Song and Gallimard. Song knows that Gallimard wants to be masculine, and that he wants a feminine woman. He feels that if she is weak, that he would feel more in power. Knowing this, Song fulfills his fantasy and is everything that Gallimard desires. Gallimard exclaims in the play, "You have changed my life forever. My little Butterfly, there should be no more secrets: I love you" (40). In turn, the diplomat becomes obsessed with the idea of having a powerless female by his side. The question of whether Gallimard actually knows that Song is actually a woman is never officially answered in the book. Throughout the book, Gallimard has his own suspicions about whether Song is actually a man. Yet he is in thrived with his idea of being in control of a woman like Song. Though Song is deceiving Gallimard about her true gender, Song has feelings for Gallimard deep inside that would not let him break his chains of silence that bound their love that in truth was deceitful. At the beginning of the play, Song writes a letter to Gallimard telling him that she has "already given [him her] shame," (35) her shame pertaining to the fact that Gallimard will not respond to any of her letters. • 35. Love's Vocabulary Diane Ackerman Analysis In the essay "Love's Vocabulary", Diane Ackerman explains that the one emotion of love is far more intricate because there are more emotions invited. The analogy comparing a batik to love is used to explain that love is filled with a variety of emotions, like how a batik is filled with a variety of colors. The variety of emotions in which are actually a mess of emotions condensed into the one whole emotion of love. This complicates love because such emotions simply do not correspond with love. For instance, it would be bizarre to see Anger as a form of Love, then again it is actually a form of love because anger is caused by it. The positive connotations of words such as "love" and "colors" reveal a passionate tone, in which is used by Ackerman ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet: Infatuation or Love? The play Romeo and Juliet has been considered to be the most touching love story of all time, but when you look closer and past all the initial "fantasies", you see the truth. Romeo and Juliet believed that they were in love because of the mere idea of it, however based on their actions and the short amount of time that the stages of their "love" progressed in, it soon became clear that what they were actually feeling was infatuation. Romeo, you see, may have possibly convinced himself that he loved Juliet. We all know that our friends do influence our decisions, and Benvolio's constant nagging about finding a new love may have taken its toll on Romeo. "Be ruled of me, forget to think of her." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 25.) "Go thither; and, with unattained eye, Compare her face with some I shall show, And I will make thee think thy swan a crow." (Act 1, Scene 2. Pg. 35.) Not only the day before, had Romeo been in love with another girl, Rosaline. We can clearly see this when Romeo says: "Out of her favour, where I am in love." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 21.) "In sadness, cousin. I do love a woman." (Act 1, Scene 1. Pg. 23.) However, when Romeo attends a ball for simply the fact that Rosaline would have been there, he sees Juliet and instantly 'falls in love'. Sure, we have all heard of the popular saying "It was love at first sight", but how much of us really believe it? For how many of us does this actually apply to? Chances of 'love at first sight' is zero to none. And Romeo and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. Why Love At First Sight Is Real? All three sources claim that love at first sight is real. By using science and experiments, this claim can be backed up with evidence. Some people believe that love at first sight is real, while others don't really believe it. It usually takes time to get to know someone and fall in love, but love at first sight may actually occur in a situation. In the video "Does Love at First Sight Exist?", it is scientifically explained that love at first sight may actually exist. During the video, the man explained a really detailed description of how the brain plays a role in this claim. By using drawings, these explanations seemed more understandable because we were able to see where these certains parts of the brain were. It stated that we base our love interests mainly on their physical appearance first and not their personality. This shows that love at first sight exists and that it should be further researched. This video's explanations are really strong and are easy to understand and all. With the examples and drawings, it gives us an even better understanding. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 38. Love Actually Sociologcal Analysis Love Actually Sociological Analysis Love Actually (2003), is a romantic comedy/drama that combines over ten romantic tales in one. What makes this a unique 'chick flick' is that all of these individual stories have different love styles and relationship types. The movie links these characters together in a series of touching and comedic romances, which end in not one, but many idealistic climaxes on Christmas Eve. The theme of the movie is an elaboration of the title, "Love Actually Is All Around", meaning that everywhere you look, love is the driving force in people's lives. PLOT The opening scene is people greeting loved ones at the other arrival gate within Heathrow airport, narrated by one of the main characters (the prime ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sarah observes this and blatantly asks whether Mark is in love with Peter, which he strongly denies. Harry, who is married to Karen, works as a director for a design agency. Everyone including Carl knows, and Harry tells Sarah to do something about it, and ask Carl out. She then answers a phone, calling the caller "babe", and leaves you wondering is she has children. • 39. What We Talk About When We Talk About Love In Raymond Carver's "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love" there was one theme that was consistent throughout the whole story. It is that not one of the four characters of the story could explain what love is. Each character in the story each had their own ideas to what they wanted love to be but not what it actually was. Whether it was suicidal love, abusive love, or just physical love, each person in the story held fast to what they believed love to be, even if they could not explain why. One of the main characters, Mel, attempts time and again to identify the meaning of love, but he never forms any clear conclusion. Each time he is about to say something important he gets sidetrack or forgets for a little while what he was about ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But these actions only maintain the anonymous of love rather than unmask it. To me they are not talking about love but of lust. Much like Mel said, they are still in that honeymoon stage, AKA having lots of sex. When the physical part of it dies down then the real test of love will be there. Of the four, Terri, seems to be most confused about the meaning of love and repeatedly states that her abusive ex–boyfriend, Ed, actually loved her, in spite of his irrational way of showing it. But like the others she cannot explain as to why her idea of love is correct. Instead she spends a lot of time defending her ex–boyfriend who was somewhat crazy in my eyes. This tells me that none of the characters truly know what love is. In a story with a great amount of chatting, nothing much actually gets said in "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love." We've got the typical and average kissing, holding hands, and saying "I love you." All of these are ways in which the characters use the language of love to communicate their affections. But somehow, this language all seems insufficient as the darkness falls on the couples and the gin slowly disappears. At the end of the day, words fail to define the meaning of love, and the characters struggle to say just what they mean, if they even know what they mean in the first place. Another thing in this story that sticks out to me is the drinking that is done. As the characters grow more and more drunk, their conversations become more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
