3. Introduction
Denim is one of the most fashionable clothing items of all time. People love practical,
comfortable and stylish things and denim is definitely characterized by these. Denim
can be sexy or elegant, edgy or tough – all depends on the fashion season and the
character of the wearer.
Denim is a type of cotton textile known for its use in blue jeans and other clothing.
It uses a sturdy twill weave with a characteristic diagonal ribbing. Originally used
for workmen's clothes, denim is now ubiquitous and has even entered the world of
high fashion. Nearly everyone has at least one garment made of this fabric in the
closet these days.
4. Objectives

To produce the durable garments.
To produce different outlooks over the garments.
To enhance the opportunity of developing numerous designs on the garments.
To ensure the maximum use of wasted raw materials.
To produce different wash effects on the garments.

Blues are in trend very strongly with both bright brilliant and faded
notes:
Bright, intense blues are a vivid summer alternative to regular indigo. These brilliant
colures include red-cast, purplish and green tinted aqua shades in indigo variations
and sulphur blues.
Most of the cases this blues/Indigo is used as fabric coating.
Black or colored wefts also add color depth.
Base fabrics are tightly constructed and dense, used in both rigid menswear denims
and lighter-weight stretch denims with sheen and surface luster for the ladies wear.
With the side of Bright notes, faded deep blue sailors blue also in the trend show case.

Sometimes indigo dyed wefts are used to give the impression of a piece dye, yet behave
as a yarn dye in laundry and finishing treatments.

For customers as an alternative of blue, vivid intense bright colors are also in trends for
both men's and women`s wear. These colors are achieved by different way like:
Coloured coatings.
Garment over dyeing with reactive dyed on ecru or PFD denim is another potential way to
get this color which also meets the flexibility of wide range of color and also save the time.
Cotton warp and polyester weft fabrics are also interpreted in vivid shades for yarn dye
effects.
Apart from cotton, tencel and light, supple-base fabrics are also use for this kind of fashion
product.

The pale shade fabric manufacturers, who are using low concentration indigo,
can achieve a pale shade very easily.
Grey-cast blues in paler tones look strong for men’s jeans wear.

Lightweights continue strongly, popular for their fashion flexibility and styling
potential, particularly for the women’s market. And especially for Spring Summer
it is coming more strong.
8 and 9 oz weights are now more acceptable for jeans while the more light
weight 4-6 oz fabrics are interesting for tops and shirting.
Fibers are frequently Tinsel or Viscose, but Pima long staple cottons and combed
yarns are also used to give smoothness, fluidity and sophisticated lusture.
Plain and 2x1 twill is very popular for this kind of light weight fabric

14. Sateen stretch
The stretch trends in denim shows no sign of slowing, and is seen in fabrics
engineered for men’s and for women’s jeans.
Weavers showed examples of their stretch offering in high-cover factor sateen weaves.
Due to Sateen weave fabric showing excellent color density and light-reflection.
These fabrics offer up to 50% extension and excellent recovery from yarns containing
core spun T400 and Lycra.
Some of the manufacturer using T400 and Lycra use simultaneously covered with
cotton (Dual FX) for high stretch recovery.

Knitted denim is moving strongly in denim trend especially for women wear due to
flexibility in movement and comfort next to the skin.
Apart from regular indigo, different kind color with wash down effect is

16. Denim for tailoring/ Formal Look
A more recent direction for denim is to use as sophisticated/formal couture areas,
aiming at new markets, who likes clean surface.
Normally it is dense warp faced fabric, so that it can give a more cleanly surface and
even light reflection comparing to regular denim contrast surface.
Combed yarns and deep colour, Longer staple cottons and refined yarns, polyester
and Tencel fibres all can produce a clean, smart fabric as well as better handle with
low wash.
These are normally light weight to Medium weight fabric.
Sateen weaves can be preferable weaves for this kind of fabric though 2x1 and 3x1 is
also used for this kind of fabric.
Deep colored resin-coated surface is also very interesting for this kind of product.

17. Colored denim
Colored denim has been in vogue since spring, but if for the warmer seasons designers
presented pastel-colored and bright pieces, for Fall/ Winter 2013 they advise us to try
darker and more practical hues. Brown, burgundy, wine and plum are the best, but you
can also experiment with earthy tones or deep blue ones for the same effect.

18. Cropped jeans
Super-long and wide-leg jeans are in the past. Designers offer us a variety of cropped
denim as a change. Cut just above the ankle, mid-calf or below the knee, these jeans
will look best with high heels. Heels will not only lengthen your silhouette (which is
essential with this type of denim), they will also add a bit of glamour and sexiness to
your look.

19. Boyfriend Jeans
This trend was introduced mainly by Katie Holmes and this type of slouchy worn jeans
become very chic this season. As you can see from its name, the idea behind these
pants is that girls usually like to borrow their boyfriends’ jeans, because of their
comfortable look. Therefore fashion designers started to create a women’s line.
Boyfriend style jeans are very casual, you can wear them with nearly anything. Cuff
them at a few inches above your ankle to create an original look.

20. Skinny Jeans
Skinny jeans gets fitted to your legs and makes your more hot and stylish. Skinny jeans
have become a wardrobe essential. Skinny jeans work with anything and everything, so
make sure you have a few pairs for spring in lighter colors.

21. Brushed Metallic Denim
Metallic jeans sometimes make an appearance in designers collections but I’ve noticed
a trend of more metallic jeans popping up for the coming Fall season. Instead of just
having an ordinary metallic coating, I’ve noticed the look of cracked/brushed metallic
paint or foil on the jeans. They give the appearance of a rustic and worn in look. I
actually quite like it! The Siwy Rose jeans above in Escapade are a style I can envision
some celebs wearing actually.

22. Chalk Effect On Jeans
By using some special pastes, on made-up or dyed garments, it ‘s possible to achieve
interesting effects by brushing, printing or spraying. The resulting effect is brilliant and
covers the ground color; it can be white or colored. The hand is very soft. A particular
effect is made on raw denims by spraying all-over more layers; once dried and cured the
garment is grazed with sand paper and stone washed with pumice stones.
Garments should be de-sized and without finishing, to better fix the resins
Mount garment on rubber balloon or spread it on table.
Eventually do bio-polish to smooth the surface, dry the garment.
On dry garment, spray pigments locally then cure at 140°C for 5 minutes
Spray more layers, dry, cure.

23. Jeans Color Changing Effect
One time you see in high fashion jeans garments that it change its color in normal light as
the viewer angle changes. It is usually seen in ladies or baby girls garments. Some high
fashion male articles are also associated with this effect. Specific finishing chemicals are
available in different brands in market. Here we describe the usual application method
to this effect. At first, wash jeans to any shade from dark to light shade (as you like form
simple desizing to stone wash/Bleach wash) now follow the steps as:
Mount garment on rubber balloon or spread it on table as you do for PP spray.
On dry garment, spray liquid chemical evenly on the garment with spray gun.
If necessary use paint brush to smoothen the liquid
Dry it in open for 30 min or as per weather conditions.
Cure in oven at 140 C for 20 minute.
Scrape garment as fashion required.
Spray PP solution on scrapped area and let it react to dry in open
Neutralize in washer with neutralizer and apply softening agent in next bath.
Dry and check.
Some time glitters are added before curing process to make it more stylish.

24. How many times have you turned on your television and seen a commercial for the
Shake
Weight, the Cami Secret, the Booty Pop, Bumpits, and the Neckline Slimmer? When I
turn on the television I expect to be entertained by a good soap opera, a funny movie,
or a cartoon. What are all these inventions for anyways? And now they have a brand
new one: Pajama jeans.
Pajama Jeans
On the commercial, Pajama jeans are described as “the styling of your favorite
jeans with the comfort of pajamas. Pajama jeans are so comfortable you will
want to sleep in them.” Yes, because we all like to look fashionable while we
sleep. “Just because you are busy doesn’t mean you can’t look sharp.”

25. Pink Jeans
Fashion trendsetters are officially loud and proud this year – but for once it’s the trousers
that are leading the colour explosion, for men and women alike.
“Red jeans and pink jeans were our top searched terms on the site for the last two
weeks,” said Sarah Curren, CEO of mywardrobe.com. Rival online retailer com
reports a 300% uplift on sales of coloured jeans across the board with pink jeans
selling the fastest.
Fiona Collins, director of communications at Tommy Hilfiger where business is brisk
on brightly coloured chinos, agrees. “It’s a different demographic who are wearing the
look this time around. It’s thirty and fortysomethings drawn to a more polished
but preppy style.”

26. Selvage denim (also called selvedge denim) is a type of denim which forms a clean
natural edge that does not unravel. It is commonly presented in the unwashed or
raw state. Typically, the selvage edges will be located along the out seam of the
pants, making it visible when cuffs are worn. Although selvage denim is not
completely synonymous with unwashed denim, the presence of selvage typically
implies that the denim used is a higher quality. The word “selvage” comes from
the phrase “self-edge” and denotes denim made on old-style shuttle looms. These
looms weave fabric with one continuous cross thread (the weft) that is passed back
and forth all the way down the length of the bolt. As the weft loops back into the
edge of the denim it creates this “self-edge” or Selvage.

27. Spider Web Effect On Geans
Method is quite different from other applications of garment designing. If you are using
a raw of dark shade denim jeans then you must use Sodium Hypochlorite 14-15% or
Potassium per magnate 5-10 %. You can use different color dye solutions instead of
oxidizing agents if you are applying it on light shade jeans.
Prepare garment for application, make it Desize or stone wash to any shade form dark
to light.
Here we apply a special product, available with different brand names, it is polymer
that can be melted at low temperature and got hard at normal temperature.
hot press the area to be treated, this will help keeping design in good shape.
product melted and applied with a brush on a definite area will become stiff by
cooling and can be then cracked by hand.
product usually melts at 60-65°C and must be applied at this temperature.
At a too high temperature the product penetrates too much through the material’s
surface.
