Importance Of Sports In My Life
Sports have always been the go to activity in my life, whether it is playing, watching, or reading. I participated in a few sports but will play any
sport for fun. I thrive to watch sports and keep up with the NFL, NBA, MLB, and all the college sports. My family has enjoyed sports forever and
the love has been handed down from generation to generation. Issues in sports have always been around and will continue to be around for ages. In
my early elementary days, I played upwards of 5 sports. Flag and tackle football brought me joy because I could throw the ball to the receivers or run
downfield if they were not open. My high school did not offer soccer; therefore, I did not continue to play during my elementary years because of
baseball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Now to professional teams, I have been a huge fan of the Denver Broncos since I could talk. I love Sports Authority Field and the entire city of
Denver. It brought me joy when Peyton Manning joined them even though we all know the defense won them Super Bowl 50. When it comes to
NBA and MLB, I do not have necessary favorite teams, but I have favorite players. In the NBA, I respect Lebron's game and the athletic ability he
has brought into the NBA. I enjoy watching all the NBA games because of the crazy shots and adjustments they can make to get a bucket. The MLB
attracts my attention the least barely liking any of the teams/players, so whenever I go to an MLB game I always cheer for the home team. Growing
up in the middle of Iowa, several of my friends like Iowa State. I try to be respectful to them but I must put them in their place when they smack talk
me. I have brainwashed my parents and siblings to like the Broncos and Hawkeyes along with me. My brothers–in–law are the toughest though
because they are extremely big Cyclone fans. Personal issues that I have had in sports include coaching. At my school, my teammates dads were
always the coach which makes it quite bias when they come to setting lineup. They always want the best results for their kid whether the game ends
in a win or loss. The way I look at games is, I don't care what happens if we get the win. An issue I realized this year for my High School

Why I Want To Choose Iowa
The reason I picked Iowa is because I have been there before and I thought it would be fun to learn more about this state before I go back there
again. The Mississippi River passes through Iowa. There is good fishing and good hunting in Iowa. The Mississippi River can get very warm , but it
is dirty. Iowa has several little towns with schools that have a elementary school and a high school. The State of Iowa has corn fields all over the
place. They grow on the side of the highways and in the woods. I like learning about Iowa and like to go there all of the time for my summer breaks.

College Admissions Essay: The Hardships Of My Life
Every person on the planet Earth has been through hardships in one form or another, whether it be financial or personal. However, it is the way an
individual handles these hardships that sets them apart: those who succeed, and those who fail. In my life, I have been through financial and personal
hardships and have found that both hardships have left me as a stronger, more motivated person. My perseverance during times of adversity has made
me a more driven individual, ready to face any challenge the world has to throw at me.
Growing up, I was the kid who had it all. My family, which consisted of my mother, my father, my older brother, and I were living the dream. We had
an absolutely beautiful home in Olathe, Kansas – a suburb of Kansas City in what was at the time one of the wealthiest counties in the United States of
America. My father was a successful salesman for Athco, a company based in Lenexa, Kansas that sells playground, athletic, and recreational
equipment. His hefty salary and commision permitted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

My Learning Experience
In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your family is hard, but can be done by having a strong
relationship with people and good friends. Moving multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the outcome
and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be overcome and can be viewed as a learning experience. Being
born and raised in New Jersey has impacted my life in a very special way. From kindergarten through eighth grade, I was in the same school called
St. Paul's, which is located in Princeton. I made some amazing friends during my time in middle school. During this time, I was playing hockey for a
team called The Little Flyers, which was just outside of Pennsylvania. We were a remarkable team that won many games and championships over the
years. The coach was a former player in the National Hockey League named Stephane Charbonneau. He was a special coach who had exceptional
advice and knowledge of the game. Two days out of the week, when I did not have team practice, I would have goaltending lesson with a
goaltending coach named George Bosak. George is one of my favorite goalie coaches I have ever worked with. He has so much knowledge and love
for the game. After eighth grade when I graduated from St. Paul's, I had to make a decision: stay and play high school hockey, go to Buffalo, New York
or go to Canton Michigan to play and develop my skills as

Creative Class Initiatives
Economic development for small cities can be a problem compared with big cities. The metropolitan areas are more likely to attract and retain the
manufacturing and technology companies. However, development agencies are looking for different policies incentives to make the small cities more
competitive with larger cities. The idea of investing in cultural development is a viable option to improve the economic development of communities
spread in rural areas. The culture agencies intend a planning effort to hold a series of events to stimulate the public to become involved with art and
cultural leadership. Thus, to positively influence the economic growth of small communities. Moreover, with the grant of the event and different
incentives, such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post–industrial phase when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing
sector. Consistent with the creative class, promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to
grow. In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities. According to Zachary Mannheimer, the
director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started in the
jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of
people and companies showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is that events make an interconnection of the individuals
with the community and it is a very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation are the key to the success of the
cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and organization.
Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community and create a program of school–based art
education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works
together, it makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote the quality of life. Finally,
developing and build an environment audience is a key to reach and involve more citizens based on the cultural development. The fact of involving
more people in the plan it is a way to leverage the community,

Alexis's uncle being paralyzed from the waist down. This not only has affected her way of life but her future as well. The driver of the other car
was drunk. The drunk driver that was involved in the car accident with her aunt and uncle was only put in jail for 6 months and this was his 3rd

Reflection Paper On Probation
There was one day where I woke up feeling like if I was going to win the lottery and it gave me a heads up that something good was going to just by
the way I woke up. But at the time I was doing badly, I was on probation trying to do good again. First I had to complete 10 hours of community
service so I can try to get off probation already , then I had to go pay a $350 fee because the charges I had committed at Bartow by the court house ,
furthermore I had to complete my community hours at my favorite church Saint Ann located in Haines city. I love that church so much, I use to go
every Sunday to church with my mom and dad so I didn't mind doing my hours there. My goal was to try to do all those errands all in one day so I can
show effort to my probation officer Mrs. Terry and get released probation by next week . So the feeling on how the way I woke up, I felt like I can
accomplished everything in one day Next, I got up ready and hopped in the shower it was about 8 am then got dressed brushed my teeth ,was on
my way to Bartow to pay my fees . A week before that I had spring break so I had a no school that week. So I worked with my uncle for that one week,
he owns a lawn care company. I busted my butt in the 100 degrees weather for 5 days to earn my money and learn how to pay fees whenever they

The Importance Of Civil Engineering
When you hear of the word engineering, what comes to mind? Do you think of a train engine rolling over the plains of South Dakota? Maybe you
think of a bridge or a road? If you thought of either of those things, you are correct. Furthermore, Civil Engineering is all of these things and a little
more. "Civil engineering is arguably the oldest engineering discipline. It deals with the built environment and can be dated to the first time
someone placed a roof over his or her head or laid a tree trunk across a river to make it easier to get across (Civil Engineering)." Some of the first ever
examples of the civil engineering was the roof and the bridge. Eventually, our knowledge and tools advanced to enhance the durability and
aestheticism of roads, bridges, and buildings. In addition to roads and bridges, civil engineering also deals with planes, cars, and boats as well.
In order to become a civil engineer or any job, for instance, you must study and become a perfectionist in that field. Studying in the school of
engineering does not focus on just one subject of study. To put differently, to become a professional in the job of an engineer you must excel in
mathematics. Math is one of the largest staples in engineering, architecture, and business. Diving deeper, at Iowa State University Calculus 1 and 2 are
two required courses to be taken in order to continue in the path of engineering. In order to build the building that is aesthetically and structurally

My Experience That Changed My Life
In my lifetime, there have been many breathtaking and wonderful experience's I have had the pleasure in being a part of, only one experience comes
to mind when I think about a personal experience that's dear to me. The experience that is most dear to me would be one that changed my view on
life and the path I had paved for myself along the way.
Ordinarily, when I was seventeen years old and still in school life was hard and very stressful, I know many people would say that life was easy
with no bills to pay and a roof over my head, but my living environment wasn't the issue. The main issue I had when I was still in school was the
pressure I had resting on my shoulders, my family always had high hopes, and expectations for me, and I always felt so overwhelmed when it came
to school and the grades we were given each quarter on our report cards. I didn't want to disappoint my family and ruin their view towards me as a still
in progress student at Haines City High School, when it came down to it, I failed and I felt so horrible knowing I would have to repeat the year
because I was either slacking in homework or being poorly graded on classroom assignments. As soon as I started seeing the world in black and white
and losing hope for graduation, I got called to the schools main office for a parent teacher conference. At that moment I was frightened, not because of
my grades or my work ethics, but because that conference had the potential to change my families,

High School Sports Module Analysis
Do you ever, as an athlete, parent, or fan of Iowa high school sports, want to watch the state high school sporting events? Because it is well known
that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams
representing the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people will either go and watch in
person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often the people that can't make the trip to watch in person, like local people,
family members, or even high school athletes themselves, will check if it is on television (Byers 1). Starting during the 2016–2017 academic year, the

That's a question I'm sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state tournament championships. I'll go into more detail about
the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the
area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier, about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is
in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the western side, and don't have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The
local cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from Chicago, almost none in this area do.
It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in
Sioux Center about it and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million dollars. Instead of people on
the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and
Timberwolves. Next, people might wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my interview. Scott said,
"Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally,

type offices, so home–based consultant office cannot locate in the residential zone areas. Therefore, religious institutions can be located in RS–5 and
RNS–12 zones with a special exception, but the RM–20 zone is allowed with provisions, as it can show in Table 4 (Appendix A). Moreover, with the
purpose of improvement of the livability, all the three zones mentioned can have provisional parks.
The gun market has been a discussed topic, and yet it is permitted to a homeowner sell guns from their houses. According to the Institute for
Legalization Action (NRA–ILA), the person, in Iowa, does not need to have a permit to purchase a rifle or shotgun, but to buy a handgun an annual
permission is mandatory, and the license can be used to buy more guns. Furthermore, the person does not need a permit to sell or buy, if it is an antique
handgun. Therefore, the three zoning chose, RS–5, RNS–12, and RM–20 do not allow any commercial or retail uses.
The Iowa City Zoning Ordinance encompasses most of the residential land use categories. However, the ordinance does not cover exceptional case, for

The Importance Of Civilization In Iowa City
Civilizations are culturally created environments in which we follow rules, standards, and ethical behaviors. Iowa City offers multiple signs of
civilization, including public vs. private land, religious vs. secular, and the presence of central control. Through these five characteristics we can
identify and interpret what the environment is explaining to us. My area of choice is northern Iowa City, which has an environment that tells me it is a
civilization through rhetorical elements provided in the use of space and materials that create it. In Northern Iowa City public space is common.
"Happy Hollow Park" offers an open landscape with sidewalks and free access. The pathways invite civilians in and show them where they may
go, but do not impose any rules on where they must go. The basketball court and baseball field have no walls or barricades blocking entry, allowing
us to know they are available for whoever pleases. An outdoor pavilion could be used for family gatherings and parties at no cost. A free parking lot
with good lighting tells civilians that there is nothing restricting their access to the space. This space is known as public due it's ease of entry and the
way the park invites civilians in with pathways and block–free attractions. Therefore, "Happy Hollow Park" represents public space as an area that
invites every civilian to explore and go as they please. Private space is popular in Iowa City due to the amount of residential housing. The housing in

Importance Of Deserving My Education
I am deserving of this award due to how I have faced the challenges in my life to continue and improve my education. Throughout my life I've made
sacrifices that most of my peers would not do willingly. From childhood I knew that achieving the best grades and challenging myself in
academics would allow me to pursue what I wanted later in life, and I knew it wouldn't be easy. I have sacrificed uncountable amounts of hours
that I could have spent with friends or doing other fun activities, to study for my classes. As an example, my mom's side of the family has had
many funerals in the recent past. I have chose to miss some of these funerals to stay in school. I do not do this because I don't love my relatives. I
miss the funerals because I know how important school is, and that my relatives would want me to succeed in getting a great education and
achieving my goals. Making major sacrifices like this allowed me to keep a 4.0 G.P.A. throughout my educational career, and deepen my knowledge
of world around me. Not only have I been able to make the sacrifices needed to keep myself ahead of game, but I've also managed to master my time
management skills.
I have always loved soccer, and I have push myself time and time again to work at becoming the best I can be. So, when I came into high school and the
load of school work and time dedicated to soccer increased, and I knew had to find a way to balance both. This is an issue I constantly see my peers
struggling with, but not me. I

already changed their start times to be later in the morning. I believe that school start times should stay the same way that they are, because of
weaknesses that could be avoided that go with later start times. I will present reasons that the same start times schools use now are fine for students
today. One reason to keep start times in the morning for school the same, is that the later start times had not reduced the amount of tardies very much.
If the tardy amount for early starts is only a few more than later start times, then there is really no reason to change it. Gregg Shoultz, principal of Iowa

Oaknoll Argumentative Essay
Imagine a woman with powdery, permed hair who smells of hairspray and flowery potpourri. She is an 87–year–old mother, grandmother, and
great–grandmother who has found a new home at a retirement facility after her husband of 56 years passed away, but now that home is being taken
from her. In its 48 years, Oaknoll, a retirement home and care facility located in Iowa City, has been a home for hundreds of residents. As a nonprofit
organization, Oaknoll has little to offer the city financially. It does not pay property taxes and sits upon prime property along bustling Benton and
Oakcrest streets. With the closing of Oaknoll, Iowa City plans to sell the land, potentially valued at over three million dollars, to private owners for the

Opening in 1966, Oaknoll began with the aspiration of providing a home and living environment with guaranteed for care for all residents. Since that
time, there have been many changes to its physical appearance, but Oaknoll's mission to serve its resident is the same (Napoli). Though the floor plan
can be confusing, the feeling of the place is warm and inviting. The opening lobby has high ceilings, a fireplace, and inviting furniture perfect for a
quick visit. Oaknoll's wide hallways accommodate the wheelchairs and walkers some residents use to get around and the light–colored walls and
well–placed windows give a feeling of openness. Furthermore, there are several family rooms with tables and couches for a meal or get–together. If a
family wishes to visit longer, Oaknoll has three guest rooms available so they can be close by ("Oaknoll"). One of the most unique traits of
Oaknoll's decor is the artwork displayed as all art found in the public spaces and hallways is either donated or created by residents, adding a personal
touch to the facility. Also, community is a major theme throughout the building. With a large dining and activity room, a small theater, a game room,
and public cafГ©s, there are many places residents can gather. The new additions to Oaknoll provided community value as well as estate

The Controversy Of Year-Round School
The topic of year around school has been brought up many times throughout my time in school. Though it has been brought up, it has not actually
been considered by my fellow students and I. We have all taken surveys regarding it and most of the people I know have been against it. With our
school being in a small town in Iowa I do not think having year round schooling would benefit us or the community.
Many students including myself work for local businesses in the summer. Us students make up a large amount of these businesses employes. Without
high schoolers working the business owners can not make a profit, which essentially causes them to lose money and possibly go bankrupt. High school
students being summer workers is not the only

Her resignation in 1904 was consequently founded by her sickened husband. She spent a year caring for him before his death in 1905. From there to

My Experience That Changed My Life
In my lifetime there have been many breathtaking and wonderful experience's I have had the pleasure in being a part of, only one experience comes
to mind when I think about a personal experience that's dear to me. The experience that is most dear to me would one that changed my view on life
and the path I was pathed for myself along the way.
To begin with, when I was seventeen years old and still in school life was hard and very stressful, I know many people would say that life was easy
with no bills to pay and a roof over my head, but my living environment wasn't the issue. The main issue I had when I was still in school was the
pressure I had resting on my shoulders, my family always had high hopes, and expectations for me, and I always felt so overwhelmed when it came
to school and the grades we were given each quarter on our report cards. I didn't want to disappoint my family and ruin their view towards me as a still
in progress student at Haines City High School, when it came down to it I failed and I felt so horrible knowing I would have to repeat the year
because I was either slacking on homework or being poorly graded on classroom assignments. As soon as I started seeing the world in black and
white and losing hope for graduation I got called to the schools main office for a parent teacher conference. At that moment I was frightened, not
because of my grades or my work ethics, but because that conference had the potential to change my families

Informative Essay On Community College
If you live in Mason City, you have probably been to the North Iowa Area Community College, also known as NIACC. Mason City has a very
interesting history, with the Music Man, the Park Inn hotel, and of course NIACC and many other places. But NIACC itself also has some interesting
things to know about it. For example, did you know that it began as Mason City Junior College, or MCJC, in 1918? There are many more things that I
can tell you about, but I will be focusing on how NIACC was created, NIACC's locations, enrollment, courses and classes throughout the years, and
sports. First up is just how NIACC came to be. The idea came from a 1916 PTA meeting at thehigh school. in 1917 the school board established the
college and in 1918 classes started on the top floor of the Mason CIty High School, starting out as Mason City Junior College. It started off with
twenty eight students, six teachers, and five fields of study. Of course, none of the NIACC we have today would be possible without the principal at
the time MCJC started, James Rae. The tuition for students was either free, or $10. Later on, NIACC became the first two–year college in Iowa.
Next is NIACC's students and enrollments. Like I just said, the program started with twenty eight students. Soon after MCJC started, World War II
began, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

German-Americans In The 1920's: A Brief Summary
How can we explain the lack of negative German–American stories in Burlington, Iowa newspapers during the First World War? Between 1840 and
1870, high immigration years in America, railroad and land companies advertised in east coast newspapers in hopes of enticing European immigrants
to the Midwest. Images and promises of rich, productive farmland, in the decade following 1870, led to the immigration of nearly 2.1 million
German–speaking people to America's heartland. Cities of Davenport and Burlington, settled along the Mississippi River, had two of the largest
German–speaking populations in the state.
I am aware I'm not the first, nor will I be the last, to study German–Americans in the state of Iowa. Historians, such as Frederick C. Luebke, ... Show

Never before a united nation, smaller independent German states were not united until the 1860s after a series of wars engineered by Otto von

SHSAT: Specialized High School Admission Test
I believe that you shouldn't reveal your dreams to anyone =. Revealing your dream causes a person to be less motivated in accomplishing their
dreams. I learned this lesson 3 years ago.
During 7th and 8th grade in 2013 – 2014, I was studying for this exam called the SHSAT (Specialized High School Admission Test). I took this test
because if I were to do well in this exam, I could possibly go to one of the specialized high schools in the 5 boroughs. These schools were Bronx High
School of Science, Brooklyn Latin School, Brooklyn Technical High School, High School for Math, Science and Engineering at City College, High
School for American Studies at Lehman College, Queens High School for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No one was degrading my dream, it was just that, my score on the practice test for the SHSAT wasn't good enough to get into Stuyvesant or any
school. The SHSAT is out of 800 points. There are 2 sections, Math and Verbal. Each section is 400 points, the math section had 50 questions and
the verbal had 45 questions. A school to get into Stuyvesant is around 600. I was getting around the 430's. I always said to myself. "It's too early
to quit. Keep trying." However, ever time I tried, I did much worse than I expected. Every time I took a practice test during the summer, I always
think about the people I told my dream to and then I think what would happen if I didn't get in. I had a poor mentality at the time, and I couldn't
handle all of this uncertainty. Then I questioned to myself, "Why are you taking this exam?" Then more questioned emerged, " Do you really
want to get into Stuyvesant? and "Are you doing this for you or someone else?" This really fragmented my will to do well in this exam. On
October 25 2014, my Dad drove me to Long Island City High School. On the ride, I never felt this shaky in my life. My parents spent thousands of
dollars for me to do well in this exam and if I don't get in, I'll never hear the end of it. On the test, I just didn't want to take it. Then something in me
said to try your best. I tried my best on the exam. Once I was finished, I waited until they called time. Once I left, I was elated that I got this test
over with. Near the end of April 2015, I was called by the guidance counselor. I went to her room and she told me to sit down. She gave me this
packet containing info about my score on the SHSAT and what public high school I got into. I got a 443 on the SHSAT, and I didn't get into any

My Experience At A Graduate University Of Iowa City High...
Summary
The realization that I was unequivocally now a graduate student occured to me when I was sitting across from the counselor that I was interviewing
for this project. The feelings I experienced beforehand were both excitement and anxiety. I felt nervous about being a guest at a high school and
interviewing a seasoned counselor. However, I was thrilled about learning from a veteran in the field and having the freedom to ask the questions that I
wanted to know.
The School Counselor that I interviewed was Ben Fraga of Iowa City High School. Similar to me, Fraga had received his College degree in
psychology before pursuing a career in School Counseling. He had received his degree from the University of Iowa (near his hometown) before
traveling to Arizona State for a Masters degree in School Counseling. After graduating and completing his internship, he applied to many school
counseling positions in the midwest region. He ended up receiving a position at Lane Tech High School near chicago (close to where I grew up).
Fraga spent nine years as a school counselor at Lane Tech before getting a position at City High and moving back to where he grew up in Iowa
city. Ben has now been a School Counselor for fourteen years. For the first five years of his tenure as a counselor Ben was able to manage being a
school counselor in addition to being a coach for high school baseball. Ben ultimately retired as a coach as he began establishing a family.

Importance Of Sports In My Life

  • 1. Importance Of Sports In My Life Sports have always been the go to activity in my life, whether it is playing, watching, or reading. I participated in a few sports but will play any sport for fun. I thrive to watch sports and keep up with the NFL, NBA, MLB, and all the college sports. My family has enjoyed sports forever and the love has been handed down from generation to generation. Issues in sports have always been around and will continue to be around for ages. In my early elementary days, I played upwards of 5 sports. Flag and tackle football brought me joy because I could throw the ball to the receivers or run downfield if they were not open. My high school did not offer soccer; therefore, I did not continue to play during my elementary years because of baseball. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Now to professional teams, I have been a huge fan of the Denver Broncos since I could talk. I love Sports Authority Field and the entire city of Denver. It brought me joy when Peyton Manning joined them even though we all know the defense won them Super Bowl 50. When it comes to NBA and MLB, I do not have necessary favorite teams, but I have favorite players. In the NBA, I respect Lebron's game and the athletic ability he has brought into the NBA. I enjoy watching all the NBA games because of the crazy shots and adjustments they can make to get a bucket. The MLB attracts my attention the least barely liking any of the teams/players, so whenever I go to an MLB game I always cheer for the home team. Growing up in the middle of Iowa, several of my friends like Iowa State. I try to be respectful to them but I must put them in their place when they smack talk me. I have brainwashed my parents and siblings to like the Broncos and Hawkeyes along with me. My brothers–in–law are the toughest though because they are extremely big Cyclone fans. Personal issues that I have had in sports include coaching. At my school, my teammates dads were always the coach which makes it quite bias when they come to setting lineup. They always want the best results for their kid whether the game ends in a win or loss. The way I look at games is, I don't care what happens if we get the win. An issue I realized this year for my High School ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Mississippi River passes through Iowa. There is good fishing and good hunting in Iowa. The Mississippi River can get very warm , but it is dirty. Iowa has several little towns with schools that have a elementary school and a high school. The State of Iowa has corn fields all over the place. They grow on the side of the highways and in the woods. I like learning about Iowa and like to go there all of the time for my summer breaks. • 3. College Admissions Essay: The Hardships Of My Life Every person on the planet Earth has been through hardships in one form or another, whether it be financial or personal. However, it is the way an individual handles these hardships that sets them apart: those who succeed, and those who fail. In my life, I have been through financial and personal hardships and have found that both hardships have left me as a stronger, more motivated person. My perseverance during times of adversity has made me a more driven individual, ready to face any challenge the world has to throw at me. Growing up, I was the kid who had it all. • 4. My Learning Experience In the last year, I have moved from New Jersey to New York to Iowa. Moving away from your family is hard, but can be done by having a strong relationship with people and good friends. Moving multiple times for the same reason, hockey, can be mentally and physically tough, but the outcome and experiences that you will encounter will make up for it. Moving is hard but can be overcome and can be viewed as a learning experience. Being born and raised in New Jersey has impacted my life in a very special way. From kindergarten through eighth grade, I was in the same school called St. Paul's, which is located in Princeton. I made some amazing friends during my time in middle school. During this time, I was playing hockey for a team called The Little Flyers, which was just outside of Pennsylvania. We were a remarkable team that won many games and championships over the years. The coach was a former player in the National Hockey League named Stephane Charbonneau. He was a special coach who had exceptional advice and knowledge of the game. Two days out of the week, when I did not have team practice, I would have goaltending lesson with a goaltending coach named George Bosak. George is one of my favorite goalie coaches I have ever worked with. He has so much knowledge and love for the game. After eighth grade when I graduated from St. Paul's, I had to make a decision: stay and play high school hockey, go to Buffalo, New York or go to Canton Michigan to play and develop my skills as ... The idea of investing in cultural development is a viable option to improve the economic development of communities spread in rural areas. The creative class initiatives are the key force for the economic growth in the post–industrial phase when service sectors outweigh the manufacturing sector. Consistent with the creative class, promoting art and culture based on the art tour is a suitable idea to help the southwest Iowa communities to grow. In addition, it also promotes the region encouraging people to visit and moved to the following cities. According to Zachary Mannheimer, the director of the Des Moines Social Club, if the city wants to stimulate the economic growth, it should invest in the arts rather than get started in the jobs, this investment will make small communities achieve optimum results quickly. Furthermore, the agencies use events as a tool of the attraction of people and companies showing that the region is a viable place to live. The trend observed is that events make an interconnection of the individuals with the community and it is a very good idea to connect communities through art. Therefore, three recommendation are the key to the success of the cities in the southwest of Iowa. First, it is mandatory to stimulate partnership between communities among arts groups, communities, and organization. Consequently, the events can turn into a potential tool to offer a cultural education for the community and create a program of school–based art education for the residents. Second, the civic engagement of the community is an important strategy to achieve the results. When the community works together, it makes the difference for the future, based on the developing knowledge, skills, and values to promote the quality of life. • 11. The Importance Of Civil Engineering When you hear of the word engineering, what comes to mind? Do you think of a train engine rolling over the plains of South Dakota? Maybe you think of a bridge or a road? If you thought of either of those things, you are correct. Furthermore, Civil Engineering is all of these things and a little more. "Civil engineering is arguably the oldest engineering discipline. It deals with the built environment and can be dated to the first time someone placed a roof over his or her head or laid a tree trunk across a river to make it easier to get across (Civil Engineering)." Some of the first ever examples of the civil engineering was the roof and the bridge. Eventually, our knowledge and tools advanced to enhance the durability and aestheticism of roads, bridges, and buildings. In addition to roads and bridges, civil engineering also deals with planes, cars, and boats as well. In order to become a civil engineer or any job, for instance, you must study and become a perfectionist in that field. • 15. High School Sports Module Analysis Do you ever, as an athlete, parent, or fan of Iowa high school sports, want to watch the state high school sporting events? Because it is well known that the northwest corner of Iowa tends to field the better sports teams and athletes of the state, typically there is usually quite a few teams representing the area during the state tournament. When a local team or athlete makes it to state, a group of people will either go and watch in person, or try to see if the event is being broadcasted on television. Often the people that can't make the trip to watch in person, like local people, family members, or even high school athletes themselves, will check if it is on television (Byers 1). That's a question I'm sure many people had over the football, wrestling, and basketball state tournament championships. I'll go into more detail about the CSN Chicago deal with the help of my interview with Scott Byers. In order to watch the channel CSN Chicago, you need to either live in the area that your local cable company offers it, or have Dish Network or DirecTV. Like I said earlier, about 90% of the area that does offer the channel is in the eastern part of Iowa. So if you live on the western side, and don't have either Dish Network or DirecTV, you are basically out of luck. The local cable companies could get CSN Chicago into their package but with Northwest Iowa so far away from Chicago, almost none in this area do. It makes sense not to get the channel only if you want it to watch IHSAA state events. Scott Byers asked the head of the local cable company in Sioux Center about it and he said picking up CSN Chicago for three years would cost his company well over a million dollars. Instead of people on the Eastern side of Iowa, the Northwest Iowa people get to watch Fox Sports North which shows the Minnesota teams like the Twins and Timberwolves. Next, people might wonder if this really has to go on for the full three years. Well, I found that answer too in my interview. Scott said, "Most contracts can be broken, but it becomes a legal matter at that point and will cost whatever the lawyers come up with in negotiations. Generally, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. The Importance Of Civilization In Iowa City Civilizations are culturally created environments in which we follow rules, standards, and ethical behaviors. Iowa City offers multiple signs of civilization, including public vs. private land, religious vs. secular, and the presence of central control. Through these five characteristics we can identify and interpret what the environment is explaining to us. My area of choice is northern Iowa City, which has an environment that tells me it is a civilization through rhetorical elements provided in the use of space and materials that create it. In Northern Iowa City public space is common. "Happy Hollow Park" offers an open landscape with sidewalks and free access. The pathways invite civilians in and show them where they may go, but do not impose any rules on where they must go. The basketball court and baseball field have no walls or barricades blocking entry, allowing us to know they are available for whoever pleases. An outdoor pavilion could be used for family gatherings and parties at no cost. A free parking lot with good lighting tells civilians that there is nothing restricting their access to the space. This space is known as public due it's ease of entry and the way the park invites civilians in with pathways and block–free attractions. Therefore, "Happy Hollow Park" represents public space as an area that invites every civilian to explore and go as they please. Private space is popular in Iowa City due to the amount of residential housing. The housing in Iowa City ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 19. Importance Of Deserving My Education I am deserving of this award due to how I have faced the challenges in my life to continue and improve my education. Throughout my life I've made sacrifices that most of my peers would not do willingly. From childhood I knew that achieving the best grades and challenging myself in academics would allow me to pursue what I wanted later in life, and I knew it wouldn't be easy. I have sacrificed uncountable amounts of hours that I could have spent with friends or doing other fun activities, to study for my classes. As an example, my mom's side of the family has had many funerals in the recent past. I have chose to miss some of these funerals to stay in school. I do not do this because I don't love my relatives. I miss the funerals because I know how important school is, and that my relatives would want me to succeed in getting a great education and achieving my goals. Making major sacrifices like this allowed me to keep a 4.0 G.P.A. throughout my educational career, and deepen my knowledge of world around me. Not only have I been able to make the sacrifices needed to keep myself ahead of game, but I've also managed to master my time management skills. I have always loved soccer, and I have push myself time and time again to work at becoming the best I can be. So, when I came into high school and the load of school work and time dedicated to soccer increased, and I knew had to find a way to balance both. Some schools have even already changed their start times to be later in the morning. I believe that school start times should stay the same way that they are, because of weaknesses that could be avoided that go with later start times. I will present reasons that the same start times schools use now are fine for students today. One reason to keep start times in the morning for school the same, is that the later start times had not reduced the amount of tardies very much. If the tardy amount for early starts is only a few more than later start times, then there is really no reason to change it. Gregg Shoultz, principal of Iowa ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A school to get into Stuyvesant is around 600. I was getting around the 430's. I always said to myself. "It's too early to quit. Keep trying." However, ever time I tried, I did much worse than I expected. Every time I took a practice test during the summer, I always think about the people I told my dream to and then I think what would happen if I didn't get in. I had a poor mentality at the time, and I couldn't handle all of this uncertainty. Then I questioned to myself, "Why are you taking this exam?" The feelings I experienced beforehand were both excitement and anxiety. I felt nervous about being a guest at a high school and interviewing a seasoned counselor. However, I was thrilled about learning from a veteran in the field and having the freedom to ask the questions that I wanted to know. The School Counselor that I interviewed was Ben Fraga of Iowa City High School. Similar to me, Fraga had received his College degree in psychology before pursuing a career in School Counseling. He had received his degree from the University of Iowa (near his hometown) before traveling to Arizona State for a Masters degree in School Counseling. After graduating and completing his internship, he applied to many school counseling positions in the midwest region. He ended up receiving a position at Lane Tech High School near chicago (close to where I grew up). Fraga spent nine years as a school counselor at Lane Tech before getting a position at City High and moving back to where he grew up in Iowa city. Ben has now been a School Counselor for fourteen years. For the first five years of his tenure as a counselor Ben was able to manage being a school counselor in addition to being a coach for high school baseball. Ben ultimately retired as a coach as he began establishing a family. The City High Professional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A few years later, my other sister, Heather, moved to Dubuque, Iowa and attended the University of Dubuque for one semester then transferred to the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. All of my siblings went to college, and I would follow suit and also attend college. When I first started thinking about going to college I never considered going to a big school. The questions I had been asking for the past week would now be answered. My parents, my sister, and I piled into our two vehicles and headed down to Iowa City. The two–and–a–half–hour car ride was incredibly quiet except for the occasional sniffle from my mom. The move in process went incredibly smoothly. My family and Josie's family helped in every way they could to set up our room, soothing my anxiety. After everything was set up my family went to dinner. Then it was time to say goodbye. I knew how it was going to go, my mom and my sister would start crying when they hugged me, and my dad would give me a fist bump and say good luck. In less than five minutes, I went from being a dependent of my parents to an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Most people don't find it until high school, maybe even a little later, but I found mine in fifth grade. From the point I first picked up the flute, until now, I have loved band and wanted to learn everything I can about it. I think about marching band now, and it's hard to think what band would be like a couple years ago, let alone before I was born. So I started thinking. • 38. Nursing School Admission Essay My journey to get through nursing school has been nothing short of difficult and I have learned so much about myself over the past four years. After graduating from high school, I attended the University of Iowa where I was originally majoring in athletic training to fulfill prerequisites for medical school and ultimately become a physician. I wanted to major in athletic training because I enjoyed being a student athletic trainer in high school and because it would unique and stand out when applying for medical school. Over the summer before I started college I realized that I only desired to be a physician because I wanted to be smarter than my mother who is an advanced practice nurse. I knew I wanted to go into the medical field, but I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do anymore. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to advocate for patients, perform skills, and administer medications. During my orientation at the University of Iowa I switched my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The nurses provided opportunities for me to observe procedures such as a fetal blood transfusion.
