1. Skyline- Tells the reader about what is
happening within the other sections of
the newspaper, a way of tempting the
reader to look inside.
Masthead- So the reader knows
which company has written it, as
well as having its own logo.
Price anddate-It costs £1.00 on
weekdays and £1.90 on
Saturdays, it covers 50% of the
cost of the newsprint, the rest
from adverts
Headline- AKA ‘main
splash.’ This is the serious
story, and main story with
no jokes and laughter.
Use of colour- All pages in the
Guardian has colour, although
some picture are still appeared
as black and white.
Stand first- Used to add
detail that wasn’t included
in theheadline
Byline- Often the writer’s job title
and where they are writing from.
Body text- it’s the ‘main’ body
of the story, often the part
written by thereporter.
Turn- For readers that want
to read on, and to get the
rest of the information.
Caption-gives a
brief description of
the photograph.
Edition stars
