4. MAST HEAD
The mast head is the most prominent
feature of a magazine cover. The mast
head tells us the brand name of a
certain magazine, book newspaper and
other forms of similar media. The mast
head for this popular magazine,
cosmopolitan, is a bright blue colour
with a simple white background which
helps the mast head to stand out.The
mast head is at the top most part of the
page. In certain magazines the mast
head is hidden behind the main image
due to its extreme popularity because
majority of the audience is familiar with
the magazine.
5. TAGLINE
Taglines, also referred to as selling lines are situated near
the mast head. They are catchy phrases and their purpose
is to advertise the magazine. Taglines usually give a bit of
an in site on what the magazine is about.
6. PUFFS
Puffs or pugs give information or sneak peaks on the
stories inside the magazine. They are used to highlight
promotional offers. Puffs or pugs are given this name
because they are small in size but are one of the most
vital features of a magazine.
7. BARCODES
Barcodes are parallel lines of varying widths and they display the price of
the magazine and the issue date as well as differentiate magazines from
each other.
8. MODEL CREDITS
Credits are given to models
advertising for a particular
magazine. The credits tell a bit
about the model on the cover and
it might even give a bit of an in
site on their private lives. For
example the last last image tells
the consumer about Angelinas
affair with Brad Pitt.
