• If those who suffered
accidents could not return to
work, they were fired.
6. Tuberculosis
• It is a bacterial infection
caused by a germ that usually
attacks the lungs, but can also
damage other parts of the
body.
• It spreads through the air,
when a person with this
disease coughs, sneezes or
talks.
7. Cholera
• It is a potentially fatal acute
gastrointestinal infection,
caused by bacteria.
• It occurs in densely
populated places with poor
health conditions and sources
of non-potable water.
8. Alcoholism
Principal causes:
• Work stress
• Cheap entertainment
Consequences:
• Heart attacks
• They neglect to eat or do
not eat well
• They put aside work to drink
9. Work diseases
• Byssinosis: lung disease that
is caused by the inhalation of
cotton, linen, and other textile
fibers. It is a deadly and quite
common disease during the
Industrial Revolution.
