Advisement and Registration?

3. Who should I see for advisement?
Who’s my advisor??
1. Log into MyEGSC portal
2. Click on “Advisor Information” icon
3. Will identify either faculty member
or advisement staff
4. What course & pathway options do I have in
Augusta?
Associate of Arts (core curriculum)
• Coursework in Augusta toward an Associate of Arts degree
Early Transfer Option
• Complete all required Learning Support classes FIRST
• Remove all CPC (College Preparatory Credit) deficiencies
• Get 30 hours of CORE credit before transferring
• Maintain a 2.3 GPA (AU)
• Reverse Transfer: Take courses at w/EGSC & transfer to AU (USG
college/university; once hours for Associates degree are earned,
get A.A. from EGSC)
5. How many classes should I take?
Credit hour: a measure of academic credit
• Full Time Status requires a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester
• Most students take 12-15 credit hours each semester.
(Four to six classes will typically add up to 12 - 15 credit hours)
• One credit hour = 1 class hour a week for an academic semester
3 credit hour course = meets 3 days a week for 1 hour each day OR
3 credit hour course = meets 2 days a week for 1 hour 15 minutes both days
1 credit hour course = meets 1 day a week for 1 hour
4 credit hour course = meets 3 or 2 days a week for lecture &
has a 2-3 hour lab, 1 day a week
To graduate with an A.A. in 2 years…
Plan to take at least 15 hours each semester
6. What classes should I think about taking?

8. What if I want to make changes to my
classes after I have registered?
• Drop/Add and Schedule Adjustment
• First 3 days of the semester
• Drop/Add for semester First three days of classes.
• Change your schedule with no academic penalty
• Withdrawals
• “W” grades do not count towards your GPA/ they do count toward
attempted hours
• Deadline to withdraw without academic penalty
Later in semester
Must complete paperwork to withdraw
If you stop going to class, you have not withdrawn.
9. How do I build a schedule?
•Access table of available courses
•Be sure “SELECT TERM” states the term desired.
•Campus choice
•Don’t pick a class in RED
•Ensure you write down:
1. CRN – 5 digit number in 3rd column (Fall courses begin with 8; Summer begins w/ 5)
2. Course name (Example: MATH 1111)
3. Days of the week the class takes place (M/T/W/F = Mon., Tues., etc.. R= Thursday)
4. What times the classes are held (Example: 8:00-9:15 AM)
5. Class location (Building and room number)

•Access table of available courses
• Go to www.ega.edu
• Hover over “ACADEMICS” tab
• Select “COURSE SCHEDULE” in the second column
