3. PHOTOSHOP
I used Photoshop to produce my front cover. I
had to learn and develop my photoshop skills to
develop a quality front cover. A tool that I used
when producing my front cover was the elipse
tool. I used the elipse tool to make my puff which I
would later put the price of the magazine on in
text, using the elipse tool allowed me to make a
round circular shape appropriate to fit for the front
cover and price. I also used the elipse tool to add
a second puff which would state an article in the
magazine.
Another tool I used on photoshop was the rectangle tool, I used this to make
my banner and skyline. I made a thick black rectangle shape on the top and
bottom to make the skyline and the banner. I also used the rectangle tool to
make bullet points on the banner and to make a white line in between the
text saying ‘Plus!’ and the bullet pointed features.
A skill I learnt and developed on photoshop was my
image editing skills. I edited the image that I had by
adjusting the levels of the image. This would done
by Image>Adjustments>levels and then adjusting
the input and output levels. This was to make the
dark colours darker and the bright colours brighter
in the image. I feel this really improved my image
and really brought out the colours of spray paint out
and made the coverstar stand out in the midst of it.
A skill I used with photoshop was the stroke effect
when writing my coverlines, masthead, headline
and issue number an coverdate. This skill gives
text a thicker outline and makes it stand out. I feel I
used it for this purpose but also to make coverlines,
issue number and the coverdate look better. I feel I
used this skill to great effect.
4. QUARK XPRESS
I used the picture content tool for all my images
in quark. Using this tool involves making the
image fit into a certain sized box so it can be put
into the project the correct size as demonstrated
to by the images.
I also used technologies with Quark, I used Quark to
design my contents page and double page spread.
I also used the rectangle box tool in
quark, I used this tool to add shapes to
one side of my double page spread. This
involved making the rectangles the same
size and positioning them in a pattern to
make the page more lively and look better
as it was quite bland.

This is where the line tool
was used
Another tool that I used was the line tool. I
used this to separate parts of my contents
page. Below would feature the article
names and above in bold the name of the
magazine. This was simply part of my
design and the line tool was important to
make things look bolder and more stood
out. I also used the line tool to separate my
article columns.
These were my final designs
that were produced on Quark.
