Raising The Bar Analysis
So Jon Taffer, the guy who does the show Bar Rescue, wrote an extremely insightful book into what he thinks makes a successful bar and it's titled
"Raising the Bar" I picked it up a couple years ago but I decided to read it again and the very first chapter is titled "You Sell One Thing: Reactions"
So in this chapter, Jon goes on and talkes a lot about how the number one thing that business owners fail to realize is that it's not enough to just have a
business that's running, rather you need to have a business that leaves a good and positive impression on people to truly succeed. Here's a paragraph
from it that I really enjoy: "Think about this: Two people get dressed in the morning. One person throws on whatever clothes are available; the other
takes the time to select an outfit and make sure it's clean, pressed, and put together. WHo makes the better impression? The carefully dressed person is
thought of as calmer, more powerful, smarter, and more thoughtful than the sloppy one. In an experiment to test perceptions and appearance, teaching
assistants who wore formal clothes were perceived as more intelligent than those who dressed more casually. A Harvard study found that women who
wore makeup were considered more competent and likable than their barefaced counterparts."... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
You can see this with all sorts of companies and products, whether it be people flocking to Apple products even though competitors are better and
cheaper, people picking up game consoles even though they aren't as good as the other one, the whole facebook vs myspace thing was a great
example where even though myspace had a lot more features it just didn't leave a good taste in people's mouth, and the list goes

Kanye's Stronger Song Analysis
In June 2010, Kanye West, along with Roc–A–Fella Records LLC, and UMG Recordings INC were sued by Vincent Peters claiming that Kanye
copied parts of his song from 2006. Both songs are titled "Stronger". The lawsuit asked for Kanye to stop reproducing/selling/ distributing/ and
publicly performing the song. It also asked the court to force Kanye/Roc–A–Fella Records/UMG to destroy all copies of the song and give up all profits
from the record (damages sought were not specified). As an up and coming hip–hop artist trying to make it in the music industry, Peters wrote his

had played his song to the well–known producer John Monopoly, who happens to be a close friend and business manager of Kanye's and because it
was posted to his MySpace wall. Kanye and Vincent each have the copyrights to their own songs. The rights to the original copyrighted material is

You are listening to some hard rock or heavy metal and the lifelong question pops into your head. Who is the greatest rock or metal musician of all
time? There's Ozzy Osbourne, Kurt Cobain, Angus Young, Slash, Lemmy, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen, Axl Rose, Tony Iommi, et cetera. While
all those names and many others are all great, there can only be one "GOAT" (greatest of all time) and that one is James Hetfield. James Hetfield is
the greatest rockstar of all time because he is the frontman for Metallica, a highly awarded metal band. Metallica has won a total of eight grammys. No
other artist has won as many metal grammys as them, six. This proves that they dominate the metal genre. Not to mention the other two they won for

The Body Of The Ibanez Rg350dx
Ibanez, as a brand, is known for often being able to surpass many other lines in both quality and overall value. Since the company itself is founded
and based in Japan, there is often lower prices for manufacturing. With this advantage, Ibanez can produce some very high quality instruments at
prices that won 't break the bank. One example of these guitars is the Ibanez RG350DX. Let 's take a closer to see if it lives it up to Ibanez 's
trademark value. Features: The body of the Ibanez RG350DX is, like most of its mid range instruments, made of basswood. It is the same wood used
on many Fender products, and gives the guitar a comfortable contour and good sustain. There is one trademark finish available with this guitar, and
that is stark white with a matching white pickguard. It is nicely glossed, and is very attractive, even with somewhat stark contrast from the
hardware. The neck is bolted onto the body, and is made of maple wood. Additionally, the neck has a design termed Wizard II, a specialty of the
Ibanez brand. The fretboard, meanwhile, is made of rosewood. On it are twenty four jumbo frets and specially designed shark tooth inlays. The bridge
of the Ibanez RG350DX is the trademark tremolo. All of the hardware, including the tuning heads, bridge, and control knobs, is black painted metal. It
is certainly a stark contrast to the white glossed finish, but manages to work nicely. Electronically, the Ibanez RG350DX is pretty unique. It has three

MUS211 – Final Paper
Norwegian Black Metal
The Oxford dictionary's definition of Black Metal is "a subset of heavy metal music having lyrics that deal with Satanism and the supernatural" . Fans
of black metal, or any other music that deals with the occult, are usually considered outcasts, and some would find it difficult to regard this genre of
music, as 'Popular', but the growing number of fanatics all over the world, mainly in the Scandinavian countries, would refute that.
The image in the cover page, is a picture of the three founding members of Mayhem, Per "Dead" Ohlin, Oystein "Euronymous" Aarseth and Jan
"Helhammer" Blomberg. Widely considered as the pioneers of Norwegian Black Metal, Mayhem will be a focal point of the following paper. The three
founding members are usually regarded as the forefathers of Black Metal. From this image, several important aspects of Black Metal spring to mind
immediately, the leather outfits, spike and bullet accessories and face paint (also called 'Corpse Paint') make up a big portion of what defines a Black
Metal artist or fan.
History and Influences of Norwegian Black Metal In order to delve into the basic intricacies of Black Metal, we must first consider the history
surrounding Black Metal. Why is it that artists and fans alike of this genre, feel so strongly against Religion, Christianity in particular? Thinking back
almost 1000 years, to the 9th Century, Vikings ruled the Scandinavian countries,

Essay On Rock And Roll
We all know of rock and roll; ACDC, The Beatles, Duffy. The absolute rockstars, literally, of rock. But do we know anything before, or after the
golden ages? Do we understand what has happened to rock and why it is so valuable today? Who started rock and roll? Well, that's easy. Chuck
Berry introduced something never heard before, the song named "Maybellene". Chuck decided to have a nice electric guitar solo, as well as
comforting tones that ran over the music with a small valve amplifier. Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Little Richard were major pioneers in this area
of music. They coaxed Rockabilly to become a thing. This all happened in the 1950s. Thank you, Elvis! Moving into the 1950s. The solid–body guitar
was introduced (and sold) in this time period. This was the ultimate sprout of rock and roll. R&B, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Boogie, you name it, Rock and
Roll most likely had it. In 1953, Bill Haley and the Comets song "Crazy Man Crazy" hit #12 on the charts. At this point, African American rock artists
were extremely popular, and making it to the top. The Orioles made it to the top as well with "Crying in the Chapel". Many mothers did not want their
children to listen to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As disco and light rock fell out of the ordinary, hard rock and pop were picking up more and more revenue by the day. During 1981, the band Tears
for Fears was created and began showing the world bigger and better ways of producing music. With their hit, "Everybody Wants to Rule the
World," musicians started using more drums and more bass guitar to hit more crucial and emotional parts of the song. Tears for Fears were not the
only ones changing music in the 80s, though. Metallica, Michael Jackson, Asia, Prince, Madonna, and the Rolling Stones became huge hits during
the 1980s. Each with their own songs, and own ways of giving a message. Guns N' Roses was a game changer for music with their heavy guitar solos,
and "edgy" lyrics, as some called

Heavy metal became popular in the early 1980s with famous bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth for their epic headbangs and guitar
riffs in live concerts. Although, lyrics can definitely taint heavy metal as dark. For instance, breathtaking composer, Marilyn Manson is known for
horrifying the audience for having provocative outfits and different color eyes. Despite being peculiar, Manson "reached number three on the
Billboard albums chart...sold 1.4 million copies from Antichrist Superstar" (McConnell 2). As scary Marilyn Manson appears on pictures, credit
must be given to him because he quickly achieved fame. In fact, one of the famous songs is "The Beautiful People" which criticizes the privileged.
Manson and Twain had similarities because both are known for a specific composition piece and receive critics of their works. Once again,
censorship appears to cover work because heavy metal "promoted or condoned illegal drugs" (Censoring 5). A generalization is clearly made by
ignorant individuals that do not give an opportunity to listen to music. Music is about expressing ideas or even protesting about injustice in society. If
people want to be judgemental about Twain, heavy metal or anything that is out of the box, the realization that diversity is

Analysis Of ' Songs Of Rebellion '
Matthew Caruso Beverly Mitchell Arts & Culture II April 6, 2017 Songs of Rebellion Smashing anything from pumpkins to instruments, Rock &
Roll is a form of art with flare. Generations of people from the 50's to modern day have enjoyed a little bit of rebellion in their life. But while the
rebels continue to rage against the machine of society, that society is constantly changing. Different issues become highlighted and more relevant as
others fall to the wayside, but Rock music does not stand by jovially. With constant adapting and innovating, Rock & Roll always finds something to

By the end of the decade, however Rock was taken over by big business, and what used to be a provocative sound turned into songs about
teen–appropriate issues such as school, parents, young love, etc. By the end of the 50's and beginning of the 60's rock had somewhat died down and
become tamer. many thought it was dead until the mid 60's. Rock & Roll had a resurgence, known as "The British Invasion". While things had settled
down in the US, England had been inspired. Groups from Britain like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles brought a fresh style, infusing British Rhythm
and Blues and Jazz into what they played. This revival propelled the genre down two different paths. Many groups came onto the scene and continued
to make more of the same teen–appropriate pop–style music. others pushed boundaries in an industry heavily influenced by drugs, spawning the
phrase, "Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll". The Beatles were at the center of it all, experimenting with different sounds and instruments. Their
experimentations became part of a larger movement, known as psychedelic rock, which included the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd
was one of the first bands to use laser lights in their concerts. What's more psychedelic than that? Hendrix even took it a step further, creating what

Megadeth is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. The group was formed in 1983 by guitarist Dave Mustaine and bassist
David Ellefson, shortly after Mustaine's dismissal from Metallica. A pioneer of the American thrash metal scene, the band is credited as one of the

In 1985, the band released its debut album on the independent label Combat Records. The album's moderate commercial success caught the attention of

Born on August 3, 1963, in Downey, California, to a truck driver and light opera singer(1), both believers of Christian Science, James Alan Hetfield
must have had a strange childhood. At the age of 9, Hetfield began taking piano lessons. Not long afterwards he began playing on his brother's drums,
and at the age of fourteen he finally picked up a guitar and learned how to play.

concerned.(2)
Back in Downey, back with McGoveny, Hetfield started the band Leather Charm.(2) Mulligan and Tanner were there with him, essentially combining
the two previous bands he created into one. This time, though, Hetfield lost the guitar and focused solely on his role as the lead vocalist. One of the

As Leather Charm began to fall apart, Hetfield saw an advertisement in the newspaper by Lars Ulrich, which Hetfield responded to, not knowing
exactly what would come from this. Lars had been offered to record for a demo compilation album being produced by Metal Blade Records.(2)
Hetfield joined, playing guitar and providing vocals for the album. In doing this, Hetfield wrote the famous song "Hit the Lights", which debuted on

violent rap lyrics and the death of 3 of the most profound artists to grace the hip hop scene have graced the cover of newspapers and made

local bar would hold every week. Tremonti and Stapp would recognize each other while there and begin to kindle up a close friendship and
understanding for what they each wanted from their respective music careers. The two would meet repeatedly to have jam sessions in Stapp's
dorm room before they would eventually decide to have auditions to form a band. After two months of searching, they would finally have their
band that would consist of Tremonti playing lead guitar, Scott Stapp taking front and center as the lead vocalist, Brian Marshall as their bassist,
and Scott Phillips on the drums. "We ran through a couple different names for the band, one being Naked Toddler which as you could imagine
didn't go over well in the public eye before we actually narrowed it down and decided on Creed," said Tremonti in an interview with Cryptic Rock
News. The success that followed for the next twelve years was something that caught the eye of everyone, including the "right" people. Soon after
Creed began to tour and play live shows, they were recognized by many different record labels and signed with one that helped them release their first
official and professionally mixed album in 1997, My Own Prison. The band soared and grew to amazing heights in the next seven years, releasing

The Bass Player 's Role
In a band context, every member of the band has a different role. It is the vocalist 's job to deliver the lyrics to the audience, it is the drummer who
conveys the rhythm, and it is the lead guitarist who gets all the chicks. What does the bass player do? What is the Bass Player 's Role? The role of
the bass player is determined based on the type of band that you are in. Depending on who else is playing, their skill level, and what type of music
you are playing, the bass player 's role can change dramatically. Take, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass player, Flea, is a
dominant part of the band. His line is often the most recognizable part of a song, and he drives the rhythm and melody. His role is to help lead the
band. In contrast, look at the bass player for the backup band for Jessica Simpson, or Britney Spears. Who are they? Nobody knows, and that is the
role of the bass player. You will very rarely hear them deviate from a backup role, something that is just there to provide some low end to the
overall mix. So what role do you play in a band? For most bass players, it is going to be a mix between leading and supporting. Most of the time,
you are going to be playing a supporting role, as that is typically the stereotypical role of the bass player. It is your job to support the other members
of the band so that they can sound even better. How do you do that? The bass player supports the band by not getting in the way of what others are
playing, while

Megadeth Persuasive Speech
Guitarist Chris Broderick and drummer Shawn Drover announced their departure from Megadeth today within hours of each other. First, Shawn
Drover released a statement saying that he was leaving Megadeth "to pursue his own musical interests," and hours later, Broderick announced that he
too would be leaving the band due to "artistic and musical differences."
Shawn Drover released an official statement detailing his departure from the bands and the reason for it– "After 10 years, I have decided to quit
Megadeth to pursue my own musical interests. I want to thank Dave Mustaine and the entire Megadeth family, as well as thanking all the amazing
Megadeth fans around the world!!! I truly appreciate all of you. Stay tuned for info on my next musical journey." He had initially joined the band in
2004 on the recommendation of his brother Glen Drover, who was Megadeth's lead guitarist at the time. He joined the band after the release of The

Summary Of Devils Child By Jucida Priest
Devils Child– Juda Priest Devils child by Juda Priest is about a relationship in which one of the people is seen as a devil by the other. In "Where are
you going, where have you been?", Connie a young teenager meets a boy who later on the reader realizes is seen as the devil. In the song it says, "I
believe you're the devil, I believe you're the devil's child" (Halford 15–16). This closely relates to everyone seeing Arnold as the devil in the story. At
one point in the story Arnold gives Connie a hint to his real identity when he says, "Now, theses numbers are a secret code, honey" (Oates 318). It
then goes on to when he reads to numbers out loud to her 33,19,17. When you take a closer look at these numbers three plus three is six, nine upside
is six and seven minus one is six, equally 666, the devil's numbers. The Devil in Her Heart– The Beatles In the story, Arnold tries to get Connie to
come to the dark side and she eventually does. Connie was innocent before she met Arnold... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the song it says, "When I jumped out on that road, I got no love, no love you'd call real, Ain't got nobody waiting at home, Runnin' with the devil"
(Roth 9–12). In the story Connie knows that once she steps outside her house with Arnold there is no turning back, she is now on the dark side.
Arnold tries to convince Connie to go with him by saying, "I'll have my arms tight around you so you won't need to try and get away and I'll show
you what love is like" (Oates 325). Once Connie does leave with him she notices the vast amount of land behind him that she had never seen before.
This represents the unknown in her life that comes with running away with Arnold. Connie knows that now he is in her house, she thought "I'm not
going to see my mother again" (Oates 325). If she leaves she won't have her family anymore and this song relates to that because it says, "Ain't got

Free College Essays-The Notorious Metallica
The Notorious Metallica The band Metallica was officially formed on the 15th of October in 1981 by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich (Metworld).
Metallica's genre is mainly heavy metal and thrash metal. The band came straight from Los Angeles California. The current members include James
Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, Robert Trujillo. Older members included Dave Mustaine (founder of Megadeth), Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted,
Rob McGovney, and Lloyd Grant. All but three of the members were born in California (Metworld). The other three were from Jamaica (Grant),
Michigan (Newsted), and Denmark (Ulrich). By far my all time favorite member of the band has to be their guitarist James Hetfield. He is their lead
guitarist, and I find his skills on the guitar to be amazing. Hetfield started out playing piano when he was about nine, and did not pick up a guitar until
his pre–teen years. This band in general is one of a group called the Big Four which includes Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax. This group is

So while playing what they wanted in the way they loved they introduced something new and became highly successful for it. To me it is amazing
to achieve that level in something you love. I love just watching them play because when you watch their hands you will see them moving all over
the frets and so fast that the level of skill they mastered just blows my mind. I just find them as a dominate group in the way they play and how
they are perceived by other groups. Most rock bands these days will cite Metallica as one of their greatest influences into music and so many have
done so to the point that Metallica was named the most influential rock band of all time. Kirk has also been listed in the top 100 guitarist of all time

Metal Heads : The Pioneers Of What We Now Call Thrash...
Metal music has been around for several years. It dates back to the early 1980's. Bands like Venom, Celtic Frost and Kreators are the pioneers of
what we now call Thrash Metal. When these fathers of the genre emerged, so did a name that would label them for years to come. The term 'Metal
Head' has been rumored to have been created by the Vikings back in the 5th century who wore a cap with two metal horns on their heads. Metal
Heads receive a lot of negative backlash and go through a lot of turmoil when it comes to lifestyle and music choice. Metal heads in today's culture
are perceived and looked at as drug addicts and alcoholics. That they all ride Harley Davidson's and attend wild riot worthy parties. The critics say
that all metal heads are satanic devil worshippers and racists who listen to the music for a message to spread hate and violence amongst other
cultures and the youth. In this article, I will be explaining to the audience that metal heads come in all shapes and sizes and should not be judged for
how they express themselves. That not all stereotypes are true and can be hurtful. A perfect example of the inconceivable stereotype is my boss. Her
name is Jennifer Mica and she is a hard–core death metal fan. What makes her completely opposite from the accusations is her small stature. She
stands at 4'11 and does not bear a full beard like the stereotypical metal head. Very blonde and petite she is a possessor of gnarly arm tattoos that are
covered by her work

Red Seal Pros And Cons
The red seal certification program was created after the first National Conference on Apprenticeship in Trades and Industries, in 1952. The idea was
to have an interprovincial partnership in support of developing a certified, highly skilled and mobile trades workforce in Canada. Red seal certification
is not a requirement to perform work in the trades. Obtaining certification does have plenty of benefits. These include increased pay, job opportunities
and having a competitive advantage in the job market.
A red seal certified trades worker has an opportunity to earn a larger salary. The Red Seal provides reassurance and absolute certainty that the
tradesman is qualified to a standard of knowledge and competency that has been defined by Industry,

My Culture In America
Many people like to think of America as a melting pot of all sorts of cultures, all sorts of ideas, music, political views, and ways of life all brought
into one. The people of America aren't all the same at all. Most of the people living here were once immigrants. Today most of those immigrants have
married together to make one melting of cultures that are all living among each other, and this is where I fall in place. My cultural identity is one that
is oddly confusing, one that if you saw it, you would scratch your head. Unlike most teenagers I am not concentrated with wanting to be in the "it"
crowd. I would rather be doing something that makes me feel satisfied than following the pack.

When I say the word metal, what comes to mind? In the 1970s it was associated with
Satan worshiping cults, and Led Zeppelin. In the 1980s it was the over the hill style, wild partying, hair metal bands that dressed like girls to get girls.
Today metal is associated with the overdone metal core genre that does everything the same as the next band. To me, metalculture
is more than this. I list to metal that is a balls to the wall music. It holds no bar, takes no prisoner and doesn't bluntly give a crap what you or the next
critic thinks. The bands my dad showed to me as a kid were the fast speed metal bands of Anthrax, Metallica and Megadeth.
These bands will always kick ass. Their music to me will never go out of style because they sang and wrote about the topics of war, religion,
politics, addiction, and ones inner self. The metal music that has always made it to more of a mainstream culture was and always be associated with
girls. In the 1980s it was all about trying to get a party girl, and in today's era it's about how they broke up with you. For me that's not real metal. I've
always been fascinated with thrash metal and new wave of British heavy metal mainly. Thrash metal was what I

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Smartphones
Are You As Smart as A Cell Phone? Did you know, in 2011, a boy from Norway used his cell phone to play a heavy metal song by Megadeth to
escape from wolves? This strange story demonstrates the many unexplored uses for cell phones. Although there are many advantages to using a cell
phone for social, entertainment and safety purposes, there are equally as many disadvantages. To start, there are a multitude of social advantages in
owning a smartphone. In past years, teenagers had to share landlines with the rest of the family, so phone calls were infrequent and carefully
monitored. Today, smartphones are either always in a tweens' hand or lap. And whether beeping some strange noise or vibrating, the youth is in
constant touch with their peers. Group texts, snapchat, and Instagram are just a few of the methods that these children stay hooked into each other's
lives. Of course, the disadvantages are that if one has no friends, it will make one feel terrible and isolated not to be included in the virtual
conversations. Another problem is that research shows that a lack of practice hampers many teenagers' face–to–face social skills such as recognizing
body language or having an effective conversation. Correspondingly, communication by texts can be so brief that misunderstandings occur, which is
why the development of emojis has been so successful. A psychologist whose focus is the effect of technology on people says, "Digital communication
has a tendency to be impersonal. Emoji

Summary Of ' Let The Celebrating Begin '
Let the celebrating begin. This book is about a wonderful girl who briefly shared her life with us and was always ready to take chances. A girl who
valued friendships, relationships, and thought both should be fun and lasting. While she was attending school at Lipscomb University she fell in
love. Not the love she expected, the man that would win her love, but instead her heart was in missions. She may not have fully realized that yet but
her friends observed it. Here are two of the last posts she made to Facebook. Her mind was completely focused on missions. This first post is her
looking back on the mission to Australia. She went there twice while she was in school at Lipscomb. The second post is her look forward to her

So we had a series of conversations after I became her adviser for her senior year. I said to her that she had to promise me that she will go into
public relations, because you're a superstar, you've got to do this. Anastasia said, "Well you know Miss Ellis, I have a good job at Loveless and I
make a lot of money and I don't know if I can get a job right out of college making this kind of money." I had more talks with her because I had to
ensure that she knew just how good she really was. Who was Anastasia and why did she make everybody smile? The Journey Begins We all know
that life is a journey. The author C.S. Lewis tells us something about this; "There are far, far better things ahead than any we leave behind." and this
is how Anastasia must have viewed this journey. Going on the World Race was the next big adventure before she chained herself to work and
adulthood after successfully completing college. It was the next big challenge. She briefly flirted with a couple of other ideas, joining the military
or becoming a flight attendant. However, her biggest adventure was yet to come. Finding out what plans God had for her life became the priority.
What led her to put all of her trust and faith in Him? The Blind Date In the chilly morning of November 16, 1990, there I was wearing a fringed

An Argumentative Essay About Babymetal
cently, a new(–ish) band from Japan called Babymetal (or as they like to be called, BABYMETAL) has taken the music world by storm. Their rapid
rise to success has caught a lot of people's attention within and outside the metal community, culminating in a North American tour where they opened
for none other than Lady Gaga.
So who are these young teenage girls and what are they doing on stage with a metal band? Are they really into metal? What kind ofmusic do they play?
Are they good? What has the metal community's reaction been to them? Are they the "real deal"? Is life like a flat circle? Let us answer these
questions one by one.

Whatever your opinion may be about the kind of music that they play and perform, there is no denying that every member is a talented musician. The
3 girls are excellent vocalists overall. Even the backing band is full of top notch musicians. Guitarist Takayoshi Ohmura even plays for ex–Megadeth
guitarist Marty Friedman's band. Live, they are one of the most exciting acts to see with their high energy performances. Their live shows are well
staged events with choreographed dance routines, elaborate lighting, and heavy use of props. Unlike an average metal concert, their shows are not
only about the music, but also about the whole experience. This is not to say that their music is not good, because they really "bring it" on the stage.
What has the metal community's reaction been like? Polarising. Babymetal has faced a lot of backlash from "tr00" metal fans, the primary reasons
being their gimmicky style and that they are just a bunch of musicians who are paid to perform live, and whose music is dictated by record labels.
However some metal fans have accepted them with open arms, calling them "a breath of fresh air" in a genre struggling for relevancy. Their fans also
include young kids, crossover J–pop fans, and indie fans. Their following is extremely diverse as a result of their unconventional

What Is Disco And Heavy Metal Genres?
In this essay, I am going to analyse and compare two different contrasting genres of music, and the social impacts that they have had on their specific
audiences. I will be using the Disco and Heavy Metal genres in this essay. First to go is Disco. Disco is a form of dance music containing bits of
funk, soul, and pop. It became popular during the mid–1970s. Its initial audiences in the U.S. were people who went to clubs that were from the Gay,
African American, Italian American, and Latino communities during the time. Disco is a reaction against both rock music and dance music during this
time, and it was popular a whole range of people, from many different backgrounds. Well–known disco pioneers include Donna Summer, the Bee Gees,
and Chic. Many non–disco artists recorded disco songs at the height of disco's popularity, and films such as Saturday Night Fever (1977) popularized
the genre to a mainstream audience. Disco was a worldwide... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another band of the time, called Motorhead, introduced a sort of punk rock sound, which inspired some other bands later such as Green Day, as
well as a bigger focus on the speed of the tracks, giving way to other bands such as Dragonforce. Beginning in the late 1970s, bands in the new
wave of British heavy metal such as Iron Maiden followed in a similar way. Heavy metal fans became known as "metalheads" or "headbangers"
following the genres rising success. During the 1980s, glam metal became popular with groups such as Motley Crue. Underground scenes produced a
different selection of more aggressive styles: thrash metal broke into the mainstream with bands such as Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, while other
darker subgenres of metal such as death metal remained relatively unknown compared to their friendly rivals. Since the mid–1990s popular styles have
further expanded the sound of the genre, with examples such as new metal (with bands such as Korn, Slipknot, and Linkin

History in the 80s
Describe entertainment and music from the 80s: The 80s had a very distinct personality to its pop culture phenomena. It was in the 80s that we
saw the first mass explosion of hysteria for new toys, with the 1983 winter shortage of Cabbage Patch Dolls. One of the biggest pop culture crazes
of its times, the individually named and crafted Cabbage Patch Dolls join the ranks of the dolls of each decade, reflecting the eternal power of the
doll. Trivial Pursuit, a response to a few decades of mass information and the development of world wide pop culture, also appeared in 1983 and

Many of the musicians during the 1980s have maintained staying power and are still popular today. Other artists enjoyed a modicum of success
during the decade and they are not even widely recognized today, save for the television programs that strive to reunite the bands and give
exposure to artists of the time. Following is some descriptions and explanations of the bands and interests that helped to change the face of music
in the 80s. MTV, or Music Television, may have been the single most influential entity in music industry during the 1980s . Premiering in 1981,
MTV gave bands and artists greater exposure for their music in a greater and more widely popular medium. The first video ever played on MTV
was aptly titled "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles. Duran Duran is one of the more popular 80s bands that enjoyed the exposure that
MTV gave them, too. Many experts have said that MTV is what made Duran Duran one of the most popular bands to come out of the 1980s era. New
Wave and Synthpop was another genre of music that came about during this era. This form held on to many of the attributes of the popular Punk Rock
genre coming out of the 1970s, but it had different characteristics. While the Punk Rock of the 1970s was a retaliation against the government and the
"establishment," the New Wave and Synthpop forms were meant to be anti–corporation in a more experimental sense, both

Metallica Research Paper
Metallica is considered one of the first metal bands of the early eighties. They are a part of the big four, the other three include Megadeth, Anthrax,
and Slayer. The metal genre is proven to have the biggest fan base over any other genre. In this article I will only be talking about their early years
and going up to their first four albums. Most diehard Metallica fans will argue that their first four albums are true Metallica and after that they went
mainstream to try and branch out to other audiences.
Metallica was formed in Los Angeles, in late 1981 when Danish–born drummer Lars Ulrich placed an advertisement in a Los Angeles newspaper The

In 1983, Metallica recorded their first album Kill 'em All. Metallica recorded its second studio album,Ride the Lightning, at Sweet Silence Studios
in Copenhagen, Denmark. It was released in August 1984 and reached number 100 on the Billboard 200. Although Mustaine was kicked out he still
received credit for writing "Ride the Lightning" and "The Call of Ktulu". Metallica's third album Master of Puppets was recorded in March of 1986
at the same studio. On September 27, 1986, during the European leg of Metallica's Damage, Inc. Tour, members drew cards to determine which bunks
on the tour bus they would sleep in. Burton won and chose to sleep in Hammett's bunk. At around sunrise near Dorarp, Sweden, the bus driver lost
control and skidded, which caused the bus to overturn several times. Ulrich, Hammett, and Hetfield sustained no serious injuries; however, bassist
Burton was pinned under the bus and died. Burtons death was unexpected and led the band to not know what to do. The same year they recruited
bassist Jason Newsted. Metallica's first studio album since Burton's death, And Justice for All, was released in 1988. In 1989, Metallica received its
first Grammy Award nomination for And Justice for All in the new Best Hard Rock/Metal Vocal or Instrument

Raising The Bar Analysis

  • 1. Raising The Bar Analysis So Jon Taffer, the guy who does the show Bar Rescue, wrote an extremely insightful book into what he thinks makes a successful bar and it's titled "Raising the Bar" I picked it up a couple years ago but I decided to read it again and the very first chapter is titled "You Sell One Thing: Reactions" So in this chapter, Jon goes on and talkes a lot about how the number one thing that business owners fail to realize is that it's not enough to just have a business that's running, rather you need to have a business that leaves a good and positive impression on people to truly succeed. Here's a paragraph from it that I really enjoy: "Think about this: Two people get dressed in the morning. One person throws on whatever clothes are available; the other takes the time to select an outfit and make sure it's clean, pressed, and put together. WHo makes the better impression? The carefully dressed person is thought of as calmer, more powerful, smarter, and more thoughtful than the sloppy one. In an experiment to test perceptions and appearance, teaching assistants who wore formal clothes were perceived as more intelligent than those who dressed more casually. A Harvard study found that women who wore makeup were considered more competent and likable than their barefaced counterparts."... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You can see this with all sorts of companies and products, whether it be people flocking to Apple products even though competitors are better and cheaper, people picking up game consoles even though they aren't as good as the other one, the whole facebook vs myspace thing was a great example where even though myspace had a lot more features it just didn't leave a good taste in people's mouth, and the list goes ... • 2. Kanye's Stronger Song Analysis In June 2010, Kanye West, along with Roc–A–Fella Records LLC, and UMG Recordings INC were sued by Vincent Peters claiming that Kanye copied parts of his song from 2006. Both songs are titled "Stronger". The lawsuit asked for Kanye to stop reproducing/selling/ distributing/ and publicly performing the song. It also asked the court to force Kanye/Roc–A–Fella Records/UMG to destroy all copies of the song and give up all profits from the record (damages sought were not specified). As an up and coming hip–hop artist trying to make it in the music industry, Peters wrote his "Stronger" and believed that it was his ticket to making it big in the industry. Hooray! NewSouth Books solved every time a person cringed to the "n–word". How will "slave" sound in a sentence? For instance, in chapter thirty–one, Huck cries after Jim being sold to the Phelps family, and Huck's nerves return that "I was stealing a poor old woman's n*****" (Twain 212). Replace n***** with "slave", and the sentence reads "I was stealing a poor old woman's slave". Let 's take a closer to see if it lives it up to Ibanez 's trademark value. Features: The body of the Ibanez RG350DX is, like most of its mid range instruments, made of basswood. It is the same wood used on many Fender products, and gives the guitar a comfortable contour and good sustain. There is one trademark finish available with this guitar, and that is stark white with a matching white pickguard. It is nicely glossed, and is very attractive, even with somewhat stark contrast from the hardware. The neck is bolted onto the body, and is made of maple wood. Additionally, the neck has a design termed Wizard II, a specialty of the Ibanez brand. The fretboard, meanwhile, is made of rosewood. On it are twenty four jumbo frets and specially designed shark tooth inlays. The bridge of the Ibanez RG350DX is the trademark tremolo. All of the hardware, including the tuning heads, bridge, and control knobs, is black painted metal. It is certainly a stark contrast to the white glossed finish, but manages to work nicely. A Brief Note On Norwegian Black Metal Ra'ad Rihani 999671886 MUS211 – Final Paper Norwegian Black Metal The Oxford dictionary's definition of Black Metal is "a subset of heavy metal music having lyrics that deal with Satanism and the supernatural" . Fans of black metal, or any other music that deals with the occult, are usually considered outcasts, and some would find it difficult to regard this genre of music, as 'Popular', but the growing number of fanatics all over the world, mainly in the Scandinavian countries, would refute that. The image in the cover page, is a picture of the three founding members of Mayhem, Per "Dead" Ohlin, Oystein "Euronymous" Aarseth and Jan "Helhammer" Blomberg. Do we understand what has happened to rock and why it is so valuable today? Who started rock and roll? Well, that's easy. Chuck Berry introduced something never heard before, the song named "Maybellene". Chuck decided to have a nice electric guitar solo, as well as comforting tones that ran over the music with a small valve amplifier. Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly and Little Richard were major pioneers in this area of music. They coaxed Rockabilly to become a thing. This all happened in the 1950s. Thank you, Elvis! Moving into the 1950s. The solid–body guitar was introduced (and sold) in this time period. This was the ultimate sprout of rock and roll. R&B, Blues, Jazz, Gospel, Boogie, you name it, Rock and Roll most likely had it. In 1953, Bill Haley and the Comets song "Crazy Man Crazy" hit #12 on the charts. Heavy metal became popular in the early 1980s with famous bands such as Iron Maiden, Metallica, Megadeth for their epic headbangs and guitar riffs in live concerts. Rock & Roll had a resurgence, known as "The British Invasion". While things had settled down in the US, England had been inspired. Groups from Britain like the Rolling Stones and the Beatles brought a fresh style, infusing British Rhythm and Blues and Jazz into what they played. This revival propelled the genre down two different paths. Many groups came onto the scene and continued to make more of the same teen–appropriate pop–style music. others pushed boundaries in an industry heavily influenced by drugs, spawning the phrase, "Sex, Drugs, and Rock & Roll". The Beatles were at the center of it all, experimenting with different sounds and instruments. Their experimentations became part of a larger movement, known as psychedelic rock, which included the likes of Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. Pink Floyd was one of the first bands to use laser lights in their concerts. What's more psychedelic than that? Hendrix even took it a step further, creating what many call Acid Rock. At the age of 9, Hetfield began taking piano lessons. Not long afterwards he began playing on his brother's drums, and at the age of fourteen he finally picked up a guitar and learned how to play. With such inspirations as Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, and Thin Lizzy, Hetfield quickly knew that he wanted to become a rock star. He started his first band, Obsession, with Jim Arnold on guitar,... This time, though, Hetfield lost the guitar and focused solely on his role as the lead vocalist. One of the covers that Leather Charm did was of Iron Maiden's 'Remember Tomorrow', according to Metallica.com.(2) As Leather Charm began to fall apart, Hetfield saw an advertisement in the newspaper by Lars Ulrich, which Hetfield responded to, not knowing exactly what would come from this. Lars had been offered to record for a demo compilation album being produced by Metal Blade Records.(2) Hetfield joined, playing guitar and providing vocals for the album. • 21. The Bass Player 's Role In a band context, every member of the band has a different role. It is the vocalist 's job to deliver the lyrics to the audience, it is the drummer who conveys the rhythm, and it is the lead guitarist who gets all the chicks. What does the bass player do? What is the Bass Player 's Role? The role of the bass player is determined based on the type of band that you are in. Depending on who else is playing, their skill level, and what type of music you are playing, the bass player 's role can change dramatically. Take, for example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Their bass player, Flea, is a dominant part of the band. His line is often the most recognizable part of a song, and he drives the rhythm and melody. His role is to help lead the band. In contrast, look at the bass player for the backup band for Jessica Simpson, or Britney Spears. Who are they? Nobody knows, and that is the role of the bass player. You will very rarely hear them deviate from a backup role, something that is just there to provide some low end to the overall mix. So what role do you play in a band? For most bass players, it is going to be a mix between leading and supporting. Most of the time, you are going to be playing a supporting role, as that is typically the stereotypical role of the bass player. It is your job to support the other members of the band so that they can sound even better. How do you do that? The bass player supports the band by not getting in the way of what others are playing, while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Bands like Venom, Celtic Frost and Kreators are the pioneers of what we now call Thrash Metal. When these fathers of the genre emerged, so did a name that would label them for years to come. The term 'Metal Head' has been rumored to have been created by the Vikings back in the 5th century who wore a cap with two metal horns on their heads. Metal Heads receive a lot of negative backlash and go through a lot of turmoil when it comes to lifestyle and music choice. Metal heads in today's culture are perceived and looked at as drug addicts and alcoholics. That they all ride Harley Davidson's and attend wild riot worthy parties. The critics say that all metal heads are satanic devil worshippers and racists who listen to the music for a message to spread hate and violence amongst other cultures and the youth. In this article, I will be explaining to the audience that metal heads come in all shapes and sizes and should not be judged for how they express themselves. Did you know, in 2011, a boy from Norway used his cell phone to play a heavy metal song by Megadeth to escape from wolves? This strange story demonstrates the many unexplored uses for cell phones. Although there are many advantages to using a cell phone for social, entertainment and safety purposes, there are equally as many disadvantages. To start, there are a multitude of social advantages in owning a smartphone. In past years, teenagers had to share landlines with the rest of the family, so phone calls were infrequent and carefully monitored. Today, smartphones are either always in a tweens' hand or lap. And whether beeping some strange noise or vibrating, the youth is in constant touch with their peers. Group texts, snapchat, and Instagram are just a few of the methods that these children stay hooked into each other's lives. Of course, the disadvantages are that if one has no friends, it will make one feel terrible and isolated not to be included in the virtual conversations. Another problem is that research shows that a lack of practice hampers many teenagers' face–to–face social skills such as recognizing body language or having an effective conversation. Correspondingly, communication by texts can be so brief that misunderstandings occur, which is why the development of emojis has been so successful. A psychologist whose focus is the effect of technology on people says, "Digital communication has a tendency to be impersonal. Emoji ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay, I am going to analyse and compare two different contrasting genres of music, and the social impacts that they have had on their specific audiences. Its initial audiences in the U.S. were people who went to clubs that were from the Gay, African American, Italian American, and Latino communities during the time. Disco is a reaction against both rock music and dance music during this time, and it was popular a whole range of people, from many different backgrounds. Well–known disco pioneers include Donna Summer, the Bee Gees, and Chic.
