Executive Summary
1.  There are multiple types of intelligence
2.  Different roles in life and different types of jobs demand
varying levels of each type of intelligence

Multiple Intelligences
•  Howard Gardner opened the door to discussion of
“multiple intelligences” with his book Frames of Mind in
1983. He listed seven different types of intelligences in
that book:

world of behaviors, habits and attitudes.

•  Ego as described in spiritual literature
–  Self-interest is narrow, focused on “me” and “my
goals” (low empathy, low wisdom)
–  Tendency to drama, negative thinking
–  Equals earlier stages of development and less healthy
expressions of the stages
•  Higher Self
–  Expanded sense of who I am, sees interconnections,
sees systems, sees context
–  Wiser, calmer, transformational decisions possible

Quad 1 Skill 5: Awareness of Ego self /
Higher Self
1 I have a basic understanding of that an ego self exists and that how it
reacts to things is a result of my personal experiences since birth,
including the influence of my family and my culture.

2 I can observe my own Ego in operation. I understand there is a
difference between the desires of my Ego and of my Higher Self.

3 I can recognize the situations and types of people that trigger my Ego
self to want to take charge. I recognize the signals my body gives me
when my Ego has been triggered.

4 I can consistently hear the voice of my Higher Self. This may be a “felt
sense” in the body, or an auditory or visual experience, or a combination.
I may not hear it often, but I know it when I do. I am learning to listen
to it. I understand how my thoughts and beliefs are creating the anger or
fear I feel.

5 The voice of my Higher Self is now the principal voice I hear. Ego is now
in joyful service to Spirit. I no longer feel a “tug of war” between these
two parts of my self.

•  Higher SQ is very highly correlated with
Higher STAGES
•  We need PQ, IQ, EQ and SQ to move to
Higher STAGES
•  SQ is a crucial skill set for world leaders
and evolved voters and citizens to develop
