3. In this session...
• What is a Twalk?
• Why use a Twalk?
• Where can you use a Twalk?
• A micro-Twalk in action
5. What is a Twalk?
• Twalk, is ‘to walk while sending a tweet on
Twitter’ (Urban Dictionary, n.d.)
• Twalks have been organised that explore
the topics, where questions are asked at
regular intervals, just as with a tweet-chat
(or Twitter chat).
• There is a hashtag to follow such as
#ADAN21Twalk and questions to answer,
with A1, A2
• Brings social media and the space to create
very human-centred experiential learning.
7. Why Twalk?
• Used at events to enhance networking and
changing the dynamics through the use of
physical space.
• The act of walking, thinking, interacting
gets the blood and ideas flowing, great for
when energy levels are dwindling, i.e. after
lunch!
• Brings new perspectives to work, study and
social challenges.
• Get you away from a desk for a short time.
9. Setting up a Twalk
• You need an overarching theme – related to learning
outcomes or a weekly topic (if education focused). Could
be induction / orientation focused for students.
• Create up to 6 questions and choose 6 landmarks on your
route that you want the participants to follow.
• Local participants will need to produce a walking map.
• Create a short hashtag, such as #ADAN21Twalk
• Ask participants to take a photo to include in the Twitter
reply.
• Assign roles in the teams – Leader, Timekeeper and Scribe.

11. Let’s try a mini-
Twalk
• Q1 Find an object on your desk (or in the
room in you are in), how would you use it
on a desert island #ADAN21Twalk
• Q2 Find an object in another room in your
home that says something about you,
photograph it, saying what it is and why you
chose it. #ADAN21Twalk
• Q3 Go to a landmark and photograph it, or
think creatively to come up with a landmark
with household items, say what it is and
why you chose it. #ADAN21Twalk
