Company Type:UAE Government and US Corporate partners –Military Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Centre for aircraft. Servicing of Military
Aircraft for Middle East customers The company are a niche business, supporting military aircraft activities within the Middle East. Employing
approx 2200 employees, made up predominantly of expat employees from a mix of 20 countries. The main features we need to look at when
determining the labour market trends are: Economic, Location, Scarcity of skills, Political, Technological Advances, Demographics. Economic: The
UAE GDP forecast for 2013 is around 4%, not dissimilar to the global market as a whole. There has been increased confidence and signs of recovery

Bangalore in India has been called the new 'Silicon Valley' with a technology and aerospace initiative as early as the late 1980's. This has resulted
in 2 things happening 1. Many Western technology development companies setting up offices to attract cheaper, but high calibre labour and 2.
Many western technology companies targeting recruitment campaigns at this location. This benefits the region and the employees who have
global opportunities. Demographics: We need to look at available talent both regionally, as well as globally to meet the demands. The UAE has a
relatively young Emirati population as a whole, with 40% of the population being under 25. However as a company we have nearly 10% reaching
retirement age in the next 3 years. We need to look at available talent both regionally, as well as globally to meet the demands. If we look at the UK
over the last 50 years there has been a huge increase in the number of jobs, which has been met by immigrants, more women working and the 'baby
boomers', but this is unlikely to continue much longer. So moving forward the labour market may well tighten coming out of the recession, with a lack
of available talent, which needs to be addressed by training or better reward programmes. Conclusion: We are meeting the demands of the business in

Designing A New Positioning Strategy Essay
There are two alternatives to LRNA's positioning problem. The first alternative is to maintain the dual positioning strategy as originally outlined by
the CEO. The dual positioning integrates the concept of "the definitive family 4X4" with "a logical evolution of the legendary Land Rover". This
tactic aims to tailor the model into a versatile family vehicle, targeting modern families in demand for a reliable and trustworthy SUV. It also
emphasizes on the evolution of Land Rover, subtly using the impact of the successful Land Rover to influence consumers' perception, and stressing the
word "evolution" to induce consumers' comprehension about the new Discovery, making consumers understand that Discovery was not only as good
as the Land Rover, but also updated and transformed to satisfy desires for creature comforts. The other alternative is designing a new positioning
strategy based on the model's competitiveness and target market. Taking into consideration the situation analysis above, this alternative can be cutting
off retail price and going for mainstream instead of the current niche strategy. There are also two alternatives to the company's retail strategy problem,
with the first one being switching to free–standing Centre stores, and the other one being holding on to dealership franchising. The decision criteria for
the alternatives are divided into financial, economic, operational and social impacts. So in the following discussion, alternatives will be evaluated on

Geographic market segmentation. There are a number of different factors to consider with regards to the geographic scope of the market. The major
retailers are national chains, whose pricing is generally determined on a national level. The larger cities and shopping centers, for example, will
generally sell a greater amount and a greater range of products. With the increasing use of the internet, consumers are able purchase products from a
wide number of competing sources, both on a national or possibly even international level. Consumer Markets. Sportswear can easily be the largest
individual market, but this includes purchasing of sportswear to use as leisurewear or casual clothing (e.g. multi–purpose trainers as casual shoes). It is
now impossible to distinguish between the `fashion or function ' markets. Functional items are extremely diverse, with some important niche markets
being running shoes, fleece tops for outdoor pursuits. The sportswear market is driven by strong branding and globalised manufacturing, led by two
giant brands which are Nike and Adidas. Competitor Analysis. Competitor analysis in marketing and strategic management is an assessment of the

Business & Management – Answer Book
Important message from the author
Dear Colleagues,
Thank you for purchasing my textbook and for the encouraging words that many of you have passed on from around the world.
In the final installment, I have put together answers/solutions to all 217 case studies. I hope you will find these solutions as a useful starting point. As
with all B&M mark schemes, the solutions in this Answer
Book should be used with caution and flexibility. Students who take an alternative approach to the suggested solutions should still be credited where
appropriate; teachers should use their professional judgment in such cases.
Since the Answer Book is 178 pages long, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Definition of conflict should be given. The possible solutions will depend on the cause(s) of conflict within the department. For instance:
Poor communication channels lead to misunderstandings; look into improving communications within the department, e.g. regular team briefings.
Lack of promotional opportunities; perhaps investigate the possibility of delegating responsibility to allow subordinates to gain valuable experiences.
Given the culture, the new HOD might be expected to be more democratic in his/her approach to conflict management, e.g. perhaps by using forms of
empowerment.
Conflict may also arise if the Principal uses external recruitment to appoint the new HOD.
Any conflict between subordinates will most likely to be dealt with by the HOD, i.e. conflict is resolved within the department.
The new HOD will therefore need to have good interpersonal and communications skills. S/he may also need to develop situational management styles
with clear goals and objectives for the
Department.
[5 – 6 marks]
There is a thorough examination of the various ways in which different sources of conflict can be handled by the Head of Department. Appropriate
terms are used with good application.

Analyzing Multinational Enterprises
MULTINATIONAL ENTERPRISES (MNE's)
A MNE is an enterprise, which has its services and assets in more than one country. MNE's have offices and production unit in different countries
known as host countries with a head office in the home country where all global management decisions are coordinated. E.G.: Coca–Cola, Toshiba, and
Honda. MNE's play a very important role in globalization.
STRUCTURE OF MULTINATIONAL ENTERPRISES
MNE's have three different and unique structures (transnational corporations,2011)
Horizontally integrated MNE's: Horizontal integration is a plan where a company manages its production units in different countries to manufacture
identical products. The soft drink company is the best example for horizontal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Trade barriers:
The company would decide to go to a the overseas market with its operations, if the tariff and non–tariff barriers are not favourable for the company.
Regulations:
If the government in which a company exists has a lot of restriction, the company would want to move to location with fewer regulations.
Customer demands:
The company would go global if it realises that the overseas market has potential demand for the product.
2.Proactive/aggressive:
Cost savings & access to resources:
The main reason to go overseas can be cost saving and access to resources. By going global a company would have access to thousands of suppliers
through the company would the best product at the best price.
Access to large market of buyers:
When a company goes global, it has access to thousands of buyers leading to profit maximization and create a better brand image.

Pros And Cons Of Mars Colonization
Mars, one of Earth's neighboring planets, has been studied since the beginning of mankind. More recently, however, the United States of America has
been considering the human colonization of Mars. A manned mission to Mars is something humans need to pursue, regardless the price. A human
colonization on Mars could provide the research to create another civilization outside of Earth, could show us what might happen to Earth in the future,
and could provide itself as a space station/planet–to–planet trading port to launch rockets off of. A manned mission to Mars is a controversial subject;
however, it should be pursued due to the evidence from past missions, the current evidence being found, and the pros outnumbering the cons. Ever since

Justin O' Neil says, "A more practical concern is the cost. The price of a mission to Mars could approach $1 trillion" (Would You Go To Mars?).
This is a very true and relevant concern for the start of building a ship and planning. Many civilians make the argument that instead of "wasting" all
of that money on a rocket, they should give it to the poor instead. This does bring up a valid point, however, would you rather save a few thousand
people from poverty for a shortened amount of time, or would you rather possibly save the entire human race once the Earth is destroyed? The
answer to this question is again obvious. The entire human race has to be valued over the few in comparison that are in poverty. There is a direct
relationship between weight and fuel, and a direct relationship between fuel and cost (Would You Go To Mars?). Any resource you bring on the ship
to Mars costs money. However, it costs money in two ways. The first is the actual cost of building/buying the item, and the second is the amount of
extra dual you now need due to the slight weight addition. As long as all major countries are in agreement with the idea of a manned mission to Mars,
money would not be a problem at

Or have BMW spent the ninety years of their existence building a solid reputation based on quality? This dissertation will aim to investigate these
questions by exploring the different and maybe in some cases, unknown elements of BMW. I will be touching upon the history of the company and

Should Cars Be Safer Cars?
Cars have been around for many years. The first car to move off its own power was in 1769, and 1989 the average weight of a car was about 3,000
pounds. Overtime, cars have been through many changes and improvements. Car makers are constantly in search of improving cars to be better than
the last. Can lighter cars be safer? Can the fuel economy benefit if the production of lighter cars were to increase? And lastly, what are alternative
composites car makers can invest in? Making cars lighter will not only make them safer, but they will also greatly benefit the fuel economy. Even
though we may have the technology to build lighter and safer cars, the cost affects puts this change on hold. Changing a cars build will increase the
price on cars... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why is this? Well, the largervehicle has more mass, and this gives it greater momentum compared to a smaller vehicle. So when the lighter and
heavier vehicle crash into each other, the heavier vehicle only slows down during impact and the lighter vehicle comes to an abrupt stop. The
occupants in the smaller car are being jerked around within seconds. To break it down even further, let's look at Newton's first law. Newton's first
law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless an outside force stops or unbalances it. If you are driving
down the highway going 65 miles per hour, your body is moving at that exact matched speed. Until an outside force, such as a pickup truck suddenly
hits you. Now imagine your body in motion at 65 miles per hour within a metal carriage, coming to an abrupt stop by a half–ton truck. This is why
wearing a seatbelt is crucial; if not the only thing stopping you is the stirring wheel or the windshield. And this is why America should increase the
build of lighter cars. If lighter cars were to outnumber heavier cars, the roads would be much safer. Car accidents are inevitable, but if we have the
technology to decrease the number of car fatalities, then it is worth the investment. Everyone can buy heavier cars and spend more on gas, and others
can buy lighter cars, save on gas, and increase their chances of death. Or, America can start investing in alternative composites to keep us safer and

My Experience At Bmw 's Playground Essay
This summer we had the chance to spend some time in Europe. One of our stopping points was Munich. Needless to say we relished in the
opportunity to play in BMW 's playground. As you will read below, we are massive car enthusiasts, so you can imagine our excitement in visiting
BMW 's heartland! We were like kids in a candy shop ogling and drooling at the new toys, new cars, and the latest and greatest.
For those that don 't know, let me give you a brief history lesson on both myself and Chris. I have ALWAYS had a passion for cars. There is just
something so sexy about cars, the lines, the power, the way they make you feel...if you are a car person, you know what I mean and how I am
feeling even typing this. Let 's put it this way, when my family went to buy a car, they took me, the little cute little blonde versus one of my 3
brothers. I knew more about the cars than the sales person. Chris has been around the car world his entire life. His father had a dealership, and Chris
followed suit. He worked at a Ford dealership; then shortly was recruited to run a Cadillac store. From there, he was once again pursued open and own
his own Infiniti dealership. Pretty much, we love nice luxurious cars!
As I stated in our very 1st meeting, I NEVER want anyone to be that person that is simply nodding along and having absolutely no idea what is going
on and all kinds of confused, I want to start with the basics of BMW and then dive into why they are so successful. I think we all can

Honda Rover : Crafting an Alliance Essay
The British Aerospace wanted to get rid of its noncore and loss making business – the automobile subsidiary – Rover. Rover was operating in a
collaborative relationship with Honda. BL was in urgent need of a midsized car that would help improve its image, quality, efficiency, boost its capital
and expertise to enable it to continue,
Honda was identified as the partner who would provide and would fit in the political environment. Also, a Japanese firm did not appear threatening to
the British competitors. Honda wanted to expand internationally. As benefits Honda was looking at using Rover's design studios, and selling engines to

Also, the excess capacity utilization for engines was effectively utilized.
Despite all the contributions and gains that ensued from this deal, this deal appeared to be more profitable for Rover than for Honda. There was also
considerable friction in the effort for the following reasons:
Difference in way of operations: While Rover management wanted immediate responses or product alterations, Honda was slow careful and calculated
with all its deals and commitments
Difference in Management Style : While Rover employer employee relationship was contractual in nature, Honda relationships were more nurturing
Honda was the bigger partner with more bargaining power. Rover had no design say, paid substantial fees plus royalty. Almost all Rover cars were
dependent on Honda design. Honda also controlled the marketing rights
There were cultural and communication gaps along with some amount of xenophobia toward the Japanese
Quality image was not associated to Rover but to Honda's engines. These reasons along with Honda being a giver and less of taker, made Honda more
reluctant to raise its stake in Rover.
At this point, BMW showed interest in acquiring Rover. BMW was as cash rich. It wanted to double its market share and achieve economies of scale
in production of parts, purchasing, logistics and sales. Rover series would complement BMW's product line and no additional R&D required. BMW
would be able to move into sport utility segment and compete with

Why Chinese Car Brands are Stuck in First Gear
Quality & Tech Gaps The luxury segment may be off–limits, but some Chinese companies have been able to move somewhat up–market. SAIC
successfully entered the high–end market in the last few years with the release of "Roewe," a brand based on intellectual property acquired when
British car maker MG Rover went bankrupt in 2005. Geely, a private car maker that acquired Swedish brand Volvo in 2010, has also won market share
by gathering its high–end products together under one nameplate, "Emgrand." Overall, however, few Chinese carmakers have been able to establish a
reputation for quality and comfort. Sometimes this is merely a matter of lagging consumer perception, but often there are still quality and technology
gaps between foreign and Chinese brands. Analysts said many Chinese companies also tend to face operational challenges. Even if a company has

The Tata Group: Business Overview
Background The Tata Group founded its roots in Indian history almost a hundred years prior to its independence from England. It was established
in 1868 as a trading firm by Jamsetji Tata in Bombay. (Tata, 2012). A single textile mill marked the journey of business prosperity for the Tata
generations in 1874 during the time of the British Raj. Even till today, the Parsi group has always retained ownership. With its ancestral roots in the
Zoroastrian community, Tata Group has been the creator of entire industries in India. Before the arrival of independence in the Indian realm, the Tata
brand was synonymous to being a pioneer across a spectrum of versatile and diverse market segments. From the first luxury hotel (1903), first airline
(1932), the first private steel company (1907), and the first national software entity (1968), the Tata name is one revered in Indian society. Through
the formation of its two promoter companies, Tata Sons and Tata Industries; it aimed to give back to society and make charitable contributions.
(Crainer, 2010). The founder of the Tata business group had had a vision. He had a dream where a sanctuary was available for the average Indian to
come and stimulate his mind through the magic of science. Jamsetji Tata wanted to create a haven of education where Indians could explore their
potential. Seven years after his death, the Indian Institute for Science in Bangalore was incorporated in 1911. This would be the first amongst a faction

Bmw, The German Automobile, Motorcycle, And Engine...
Bayerische Motoren Werke, modernly known as BMW, is the German automobile, motorcycle, and engine manufacturing company that was
established March 7, 1916. BMW is headquartered in Munich, Bavaria, Germany and is also the parent company of Rolls Royce Motor Cars
("History of BMW", 2015). BMW's flourishing success has included the company in the "German Big 3" luxury automakers. The "Big 3" includes
BMW, Audi, and Mercedes–Benz as the best–selling luxury automakers in the world ("History of BMW", 2015). BMW's technological innovation has
been a leading cause to their success. Ultimately, the development and history of their innovation have been foundational to their growth and
development. Interestingly, BMW did not originate as an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
BMW's aircraft engine plant was then forced to close, being that their only product at the time was the IIIa aero–engine ("History of BMW", 2015).
Upper management quickly began seeking other alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin–based company
called Knorr–Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin manufacturing brake systems as a response to survive the cessation of
aircraft engine production. The contract was over a ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with employment and profit until 1930 ("History
of BMW", 2015). This directional shift resulted in great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power was allocated to BMW from Knorr–Bremse AG
because they could not handle the demand they were receiving for manufacturing in their own factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for
governmental bodies to pursue contracted agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian government
contracted with BMW permitting them to be the official Knorr brake producers of Bavaria because BMW was located in the homeland ("History of
BMW", 2015). Furthermore, these conditions caused the company to pursue greater avenues which lead to the manufacturing of motorcycle engines.
In 1921 BMW created the first motorized bicycle

Globalisation and Government Regulation in Uk
Introduction В‘Think global ', В‘Act local ' is a common phrase used by executives, companies in the UK have been heavily impacted by
globalisation due to the benefits of attractive cheap labour available overseas, establish subsidiaries to overcome exportation, producing globally
standardised products to achieve economies of scale and gaining a market share in local/region of a country. This is the age of globalisation, a term
which has numerous definition (Dunning, 1997), but generally refers to a process of "tighter international linkages on a world–wide scale" (De Wit
and Meyer, 1998). On the other hand, UK has also become a major host country for foreign multinational investment. Corporate interests shed light on

Traditional manufacturing countries mainly situated in the South–east Asia and Eastern Europe have gained corporate interests in attractive cheap
labour (Meffert and Bloch, 1991). The loss of jobs contributes to the already worsening problem of unemployment and harms regional economy. A
BBC report (Davis, 2003) shows that "Factory production fell by 4% in 2002, the largest annual slump since 1991" Corporate Insolvencies has
occurred because companies are unable to keep up with global integration. MG Rover went into administration on April 8, with the loss of over 5,000
jobs (Harwood, 2005) Similar threats are also emitted from the service industry where there seems to be a trend towards outsourcing services to low
labour cost countries e.g. call–centres to India. Such business voyage is encouraging as BT 's turnover increased by 11 percent in 2002 (Turner and
Gardiner, 2007). Again the argument is about job loss; in addition, the pressure to out–source may cause businesses to drive down В‘real pay ' levels in
order to compete more effectively (Blackwood, 2006). On the other hand, foreign investments have also created jobs in the UK. The amount of
opportunities created depends on В•Direct jobs: size of the foreign owned industry and the intensity of its production process. В•In direct jobs: referring
to the connections with local suppliers and their reputation. The UK government estimated that

Sepsis in the Emergency Department: Improvements in Rapid...
Abstract
Sepsis remains one of the most deadly diseases in the country. According to the literature, a majority of sepsis cases filter though the Emergency
department. The diagnosis and treatment of sepsis are complex and the barriers to improving these things are even more intricate but the fact remains
that improvement of sepsis care begins in the ED. Early recognition of sepsis using the SIRS criteria followed by multidisciplinary rapid response
diagnostic testing and treatment are the keys to improvement of sepsis care in the ED.
Introduction
Sepsis is defined by the Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) as "the presence (probable or documented) of infection together with systemic manifestations
of infection" (Dellinger et al., ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

8.Hyperbilirubinemia (plasma total bilirubin level > 4 mg/dL)

(Simpson & Pitts, 2010)
Management of Severe Sepsis:
More than 500,000 cases of severe sepsis are initially managed in the US emergency departments annually, with an average ED length of stay of 5
hours. The cornerstones of management of severe sepsis includes prompt diagnosis, timely administration of appropriate antibiotics, and aggressive
resuscitation.
Recognition of Sepsis in the ED. It is well known within health care professionals as well as the general public that, in the first hours of a
myocardial infarction or cerebral vascular accident, time is tissue. This is also the case in severe sepsis and because of this, early recognition of
sepsis is vital to improving outcomes. SIRS is the first line diagnostic for the recognition of sepsis. If the patient meets SIRS criteria, the next line of
diagnostics is to test the serum lactate. Lactate is believed to be due to decreased end–organ perfusion, leading to anaerobic glycolysis and lactate
production. Serum lactate is commonly used as a prognostic test for illness severity in ED patients with sepsis (Green et al., 2011).
Resuscitation in the ED. Rapid Quantitative resuscitation is recommended in all patients with tissue hypoperfusion. According to the SSC guidelines,
the goals of fluid resuscitation include a CVP of 8–12 mm Hg, a MAP > 65 mm Hg, urine

Cadbury Schweppes Takeover by Kraft
Cadbury Schweppes Takeover by Kraft
Currently, it is too early to speak of the recovery of American (and global) market of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The volume of mergers and
acquisitions fell by about 37% – to $ 1.75 trillion over the last year, and therefore fees of investment banks decreased (Zhang 2010). The deal between
Kraft and Cadbury is the biggest one since March 2009, when Roche Holding completed the purchase of Genentech for U.S. $ 44 billion These
transactions indicate the rehabilitation of selected major players and their optimistic assessment of their own investment prospects. Any M&A

In the case of accepting the terms of the transaction, Kraft intends to issue 265 million new shares, or 18% of the existing ones. Stockbroker Andrew
Wood believes that Kraft has every reason to pursue the acquisition of Cadbury, as this would allow the American company to expand its confectionery
business to more effectively compete with Mars. On the other hand, the head of an investment holding company Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett,
the largest shareholder of Kraft Foods, marked that he felt poor because of this purchase (Chu 2010). He considers the sum of $19.3 billion too high,
and the whole deal unsuccessful. Kraft Foods welcomed the entry of Cadbury staff into the family of employees of American companies. However,
Cadbury workers do not expect anything well from this merger. In London trade union representatives held a protest against the acquisition that can
lead to redundancies of British employees. Trade unions believe that the downsizing will be quite serious: Kraft's debt is estimated in ВЈ22 billion
('Cadbury agrees Kraft takeover bid' 2010). British Prime Minister Gordon Brown pled for the British confectionery. It goes not only about possible
job losses and transfer of production to other countries, but also in general about giving away the company, which for many British has become a
national treasure (House of Common 2010). Cadbury Board of Directors justifies its decision to accept the offer of Kraft

The Decision Of Diesel And Gas Motors
At the point when Land Rover outlined its exceptionally fruitful Range Rover Evoque premium minimized SUV in 2007–2008, it made 3–entryway

So when the organization 's Board chose in 2011 that such an apparently far–fetched alternative ought to be included, it was a genuine test for the

"Despite the fact that the auto just looks as though the rooftop has been slashed off the Coupe, it wasn 't exactly that straightforward!" said Andy Wheel,
Land Rover 's Chief Exterior Designer.
It must be built to meet Land Rover 's abnormal state of auxiliary unbending nature and torsional solidness prerequisites and to give the same wide

Case Study Of The Rover Group Ltd.
The Rover Group Ltd. was once a leading car maker and exporter in Britain, boasting a production of over 500,000 cars per year, half of which were
exported abroad. Following the immense success, the company become the largest automaker in the United Kingdom, through a variety of mergers in
the 1960s. During the many merges, Rover Group Ltd. became the parent company of several famous brands including Mini, MG, Triumph, Riley, and
Austin. Engendering an alluring variety of top quality cars from hatchbacks to saloons to wagons and even sports cars. However, multiple problems
brought the company to bankruptcy by the late 1970s. The British government acquired the company in 1975 and sold it to British Aerospace in 1988.

Poor customer service and appalling workmanship in product quality due to poor quality control tarnished the reputation of Rover cars as a high
quality innovative manufacturer. Quality control involves inspection of materials, processes, end products as well as customer services guaranteeing
high standards. Unlike its competitors, Rover cars were poorly built and were prone to rust and its windows tend to leak within months of purchase. As
a result, the company was losing its winning factor, which is desirability among customers. As the company progressed, lack of employee discipline put
its reputation at stake as Rover cars became notoriously known as a car company with poor build quality and poor customer service as complaints from
customers were conveniently swept under the carpet. Overcoming the situation, I would adopt internal and external control as well as market control to
improve the control of the organisation. With market control, influence by competitors in terms of organisational behaviour would encourage
employees to cope with the competition by using similar quality materials to ensure longer durability and are less prone to rust. Also, implementation
of internal control promotes self–discipline among employees in fulfilling tasks expectations and responsibilities, especially in customer service. By
implementing external control strategy, managers must take immediate action against employees should there be a disciplinary problem among

Tata Motors : An Indian Based Automaker
3.4.1 Tata Motors
Tata Motors were traditionally positioned as an Indian based automaker that they had major market share in Indian's commercial truck and passenger
cars. However, when it goes overseas, it hardly has any competitive advantages compared with traditional international brands that consumers would
think of when they plan to purchase a car. Tata Motors were simply not on that list. Tata Motors were practically forced on the route of
internationalization by its tragic failure in domestic market in the late 1990s. Tata Motors made some mistakes by assuming it can just march into
mature international markets by partnering up with existing well–known brands, like what it did with Tata Tea. The partnership with MG Rover in an
attempt to enter advanced European markets proved to be a failure because European consumers are more comfortable with well–established, quality
guaranteed, and local based brands rather than a foreign company from a country that is not known for its performance in the motor vehicle industry.
The only viable approach for Tata Motors is to build its international business incrementally. The most important part of a preferable strategy is to
identify the needs of consumers and find ways to satisfy them, which Tata Motors successfully did by reducing the prices of its spare parts.
The experiences of Tata Motors proved that a company has to choose the correct strategies based on its current positions, the global market, and the

Across the globe today, more and more people are becoming drawn to living healthy lifestyles, and practicing healthy eating habits. With the
proliferation of diseases previously unheard of and the progression of already identified ones into more life–threatening strains, the adage "prevention

The natural products health industry is a very lucrative one. In 2008, it expanded by 8% to $270B despite the economic downturn that rocked many
industries. The industry is still on the rise throughout the world. As seen in the table below, it is expected to experience... Show more content on

The tropical fruit has emerged as a hot trend, with its nutritional components being promoted for health or fitness reasons. Coconut water is advertised
as a refreshing, electrolyte–rich beverage suitable for replacing sports drinks. Not to be confused with the far richer coconut milk, coconut water is a
clear liquid extracted from very young green coconuts. It's billed as "nature's sports drink" because like Gatorade and other energy drinks, it contains
water for rehydration, carbohydrates in the form of sugar for energy, and electrolytes to replace what's lost through sweat.
In most cases, the best way to restore your body's fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply with water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of
severe exertion or illness, however, a quick electrolyte boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added colors,
flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink and that is the coconut water.
Coconut water is found inside the cavity of a young, unripe coconut. The balance of electrolytes in coconut water is nearly the same as that in the
human blood.

By 1959 the automotive division of BMW was in financial difficulties and a shareholders meeting was held to decide whether to go into liquidation
or find a way of carrying on. It was decided to carry on and to try to cash in on the current economy car boom enjoyed so successfully by some of
Germany 's ex–aircraft manufacturers such as Messerschmitt and Heinkel. The rights to manufacture the Italian Iso Isetta were bought, the tiny cars
themselves were to be powered by a modified form of BMW 's own motorcycle engine. This was moderately successful and helped the company get
back on its feet. The controlling majority shareholder of the BMW Aktiengesellschaft since 1959 is the Quandt family, which owns about 46% of the
stock. The rest is in public float.
In 1992, BMW acquired a large stake in California based industrial design studio DesignworksUSA, which they fully acquired in 1995. In 1994,
BMW bought the British Rover Group(which at the time consisted of the Rover, Land Rover and MG brands as well as the rights to defunct
brands including Austin and Morris), and owned it for six years. By 2000, Rover was making huge losses and BMW decided to sell the combine.
The MG and Rover brands were sold to the Phoenix Consortium to form MG Rover, while Land Rover was taken over by Ford. BMW, meanwhile,
retained the rights to build the new MINI, which was launched in 2001.

Ethical Issues Of Ted Baker
Introduction
The purpose of this report is to discuss and analyze the UK business and economic market through 3 different newspaper articles. It further describes
the effects on firms which have undergone a change, affected by an external factor and an ethical issue.
The first article describes the continuous increase in profitability of Ted Baker Company in the competitive market of retail clothing. The company
succeeded through the development of product differentiation and adaptation to customers' needs and demands.
The second article illustrates the impact of government intervention in the tobacco industry and the legal confrontation contemplated by the major
tobacco companies.

I.The case: Companies can be affected by many aspects of government policy as they must comply with the law. Currently, the UK Government is
considering passing legislation preventing tobacco companies from displaying their brand names and logos on their packs, in an effort to reduce both
demand and consumption of tobacco. However, the tobacco companies of Imperial Tobacco, British American,Japan Tobacco and Philip Morris are
prepared to take every action necessary to protect their rights in order to maintain their branding on cigarette packaging.
II.Discussion, analysis and evaluation of the case: In case this legalisation is approved, the UK government would introduce plain packaging with
the aim to improve public health and curb the appeal of cigarettes to young people. This action could be viewed by some as with political interest
and accuse the government of electioneering. The UK parliament is expected to vote on regulations to ban branding on cigarette packs before it is

Servicing of Military Aircraft for Middle East customers The company are a niche business, supporting military aircraft activities within the Middle East. Employing approx 2200 employees, made up predominantly of expat employees from a mix of 20 countries. The main features we need to look at when determining the labour market trends are: Economic, Location, Scarcity of skills, Political, Technological Advances, Demographics. Economic: The UAE GDP forecast for 2013 is around 4%, not dissimilar to the global market as a whole. There has been increased confidence and signs of recovery for the housing market in the region,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Bangalore in India has been called the new 'Silicon Valley' with a technology and aerospace initiative as early as the late 1980's. This has resulted in 2 things happening 1. Many Western technology development companies setting up offices to attract cheaper, but high calibre labour and 2. Many western technology companies targeting recruitment campaigns at this location. This benefits the region and the employees who have global opportunities. Demographics: We need to look at available talent both regionally, as well as globally to meet the demands. The UAE has a relatively young Emirati population as a whole, with 40% of the population being under 25. However as a company we have nearly 10% reaching retirement age in the next 3 years. We need to look at available talent both regionally, as well as globally to meet the demands. If we look at the UK over the last 50 years there has been a huge increase in the number of jobs, which has been met by immigrants, more women working and the 'baby boomers', but this is unlikely to continue much longer. So moving forward the labour market may well tighten coming out of the recession, with a lack of available talent, which needs to be addressed by training or better reward programmes. Conclusion: We are meeting the demands of the business in terms of meeting ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Designing A New Positioning Strategy Essay There are two alternatives to LRNA's positioning problem. The first alternative is to maintain the dual positioning strategy as originally outlined by the CEO. The dual positioning integrates the concept of "the definitive family 4X4" with "a logical evolution of the legendary Land Rover". This tactic aims to tailor the model into a versatile family vehicle, targeting modern families in demand for a reliable and trustworthy SUV. It also emphasizes on the evolution of Land Rover, subtly using the impact of the successful Land Rover to influence consumers' perception, and stressing the word "evolution" to induce consumers' comprehension about the new Discovery, making consumers understand that Discovery was not only as good as the Land Rover, but also updated and transformed to satisfy desires for creature comforts. The other alternative is designing a new positioning strategy based on the model's competitiveness and target market. Taking into consideration the situation analysis above, this alternative can be cutting off retail price and going for mainstream instead of the current niche strategy. There are also two alternatives to the company's retail strategy problem, with the first one being switching to free–standing Centre stores, and the other one being holding on to dealership franchising. The decision criteria for the alternatives are divided into financial, economic, operational and social impacts. So in the following discussion, alternatives will be evaluated on ... In the final installment, I have put together answers/solutions to all 217 case studies. I hope you will find these solutions as a useful starting point. As with all B&M mark schemes, the solutions in this Answer Book should be used with caution and flexibility. There may be no distinction made between the influences on training and recruitment. © Paul Hoang and IBID Press 3 c) Definition of conflict should be given. The possible solutions will depend on the cause(s) of conflict within the department. For instance:
  • 6. Poor communication channels lead to misunderstandings; look into improving communications within the department, e.g. regular team briefings. Lack of promotional opportunities; perhaps investigate the possibility of delegating responsibility to allow subordinates to gain valuable experiences. Given the culture, the new HOD might be expected to be more democratic in his/her approach to conflict management, e.g. perhaps by using forms of empowerment. Conflict may also arise if the Principal uses external recruitment to appoint the new HOD. Any conflict between subordinates will most likely to be dealt with by the HOD, i.e. conflict is resolved within the department. The new HOD will therefore need to have good interpersonal and communications skills. S/he may also need to develop situational management styles with clear goals and objectives for the Department. [5 – 6 marks] There is a thorough examination of the various ways in which different sources of conflict can be handled by the Head of Department. Appropriate terms are used with good application. • 9. Pros And Cons Of Mars Colonization Mars, one of Earth's neighboring planets, has been studied since the beginning of mankind. More recently, however, the United States of America has been considering the human colonization of Mars. A manned mission to Mars is something humans need to pursue, regardless the price. A human colonization on Mars could provide the research to create another civilization outside of Earth, could show us what might happen to Earth in the future, and could provide itself as a space station/planet–to–planet trading port to launch rockets off of. A manned mission to Mars is a controversial subject; however, it should be pursued due to the evidence from past missions, the current evidence being found, and the pros outnumbering the cons. Ever since 1965, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Justin O' Neil says, "A more practical concern is the cost. The price of a mission to Mars could approach $1 trillion" (Would You Go To Mars?). This is a very true and relevant concern for the start of building a ship and planning. Many civilians make the argument that instead of "wasting" all of that money on a rocket, they should give it to the poor instead. This does bring up a valid point, however, would you rather save a few thousand people from poverty for a shortened amount of time, or would you rather possibly save the entire human race once the Earth is destroyed? The answer to this question is again obvious. The entire human race has to be valued over the few in comparison that are in poverty. There is a direct relationship between weight and fuel, and a direct relationship between fuel and cost (Would You Go To Mars?). Any resource you bring on the ship to Mars costs money. However, it costs money in two ways. The first is the actual cost of building/buying the item, and the second is the amount of extra dual you now need due to the slight weight addition. As long as all major countries are in agreement with the idea of a manned mission to Mars, money would not be a problem at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Should Cars Be Safer Cars? Cars have been around for many years. The first car to move off its own power was in 1769, and 1989 the average weight of a car was about 3,000 pounds. Overtime, cars have been through many changes and improvements. Car makers are constantly in search of improving cars to be better than the last. Can lighter cars be safer? Can the fuel economy benefit if the production of lighter cars were to increase? And lastly, what are alternative composites car makers can invest in? Making cars lighter will not only make them safer, but they will also greatly benefit the fuel economy. Even though we may have the technology to build lighter and safer cars, the cost affects puts this change on hold. Changing a cars build will increase the price on cars... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why is this? Well, the largervehicle has more mass, and this gives it greater momentum compared to a smaller vehicle. So when the lighter and heavier vehicle crash into each other, the heavier vehicle only slows down during impact and the lighter vehicle comes to an abrupt stop. The occupants in the smaller car are being jerked around within seconds. To break it down even further, let's look at Newton's first law. Newton's first law states that an object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion unless an outside force stops or unbalances it. If you are driving down the highway going 65 miles per hour, your body is moving at that exact matched speed. Until an outside force, such as a pickup truck suddenly hits you. Now imagine your body in motion at 65 miles per hour within a metal carriage, coming to an abrupt stop by a half–ton truck. This is why wearing a seatbelt is crucial; if not the only thing stopping you is the stirring wheel or the windshield. And this is why America should increase the build of lighter cars. If lighter cars were to outnumber heavier cars, the roads would be much safer. Car accidents are inevitable, but if we have the technology to decrease the number of car fatalities, then it is worth the investment. Everyone can buy heavier cars and spend more on gas, and others can buy lighter cars, save on gas, and increase their chances of death. Or, America can start investing in alternative composites to keep us safer and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Needless to say we relished in the opportunity to play in BMW 's playground. As you will read below, we are massive car enthusiasts, so you can imagine our excitement in visiting BMW 's heartland! We were like kids in a candy shop ogling and drooling at the new toys, new cars, and the latest and greatest. For those that don 't know, let me give you a brief history lesson on both myself and Chris. I have ALWAYS had a passion for cars. There is just something so sexy about cars, the lines, the power, the way they make you feel...if you are a car person, you know what I mean and how I am feeling even typing this. Let 's put it this way, when my family went to buy a car, they took me, the little cute little blonde versus one of my 3 brothers. I knew more about the cars than the sales person. Chris has been around the car world his entire life. His father had a dealership, and Chris followed suit. He worked at a Ford dealership; then shortly was recruited to run a Cadillac store. From there, he was once again pursued open and own his own Infiniti dealership. Pretty much, we love nice luxurious cars! As I stated in our very 1st meeting, I NEVER want anyone to be that person that is simply nodding along and having absolutely no idea what is going on and all kinds of confused, I want to start with the basics of BMW and then dive into why they are so successful. Honda also controlled the marketing rights There were cultural and communication gaps along with some amount of xenophobia toward the Japanese Quality image was not associated to Rover but to Honda's engines. • 32. The Tata Group: Business Overview Background The Tata Group founded its roots in Indian history almost a hundred years prior to its independence from England. It was established in 1868 as a trading firm by Jamsetji Tata in Bombay. (Tata, 2012). A single textile mill marked the journey of business prosperity for the Tata generations in 1874 during the time of the British Raj. Even till today, the Parsi group has always retained ownership. With its ancestral roots in the Zoroastrian community, Tata Group has been the creator of entire industries in India. Before the arrival of independence in the Indian realm, the Tata brand was synonymous to being a pioneer across a spectrum of versatile and diverse market segments. From the first luxury hotel (1903), first airline (1932), the first private steel company (1907), and the first national software entity (1968), the Tata name is one revered in Indian society. Through the formation of its two promoter companies, Tata Sons and Tata Industries; it aimed to give back to society and make charitable contributions. (Crainer, 2010). The founder of the Tata business group had had a vision. He had a dream where a sanctuary was available for the average Indian to come and stimulate his mind through the magic of science. BMW's aircraft engine plant was then forced to close, being that their only product at the time was the IIIa aero–engine ("History of BMW", 2015). Upper management quickly began seeking other alternatives which resulted in them obtaining a license with a very successful Berlin–based company called Knorr–Bremse AG. This partnership was pursued in effort to begin manufacturing brake systems as a response to survive the cessation of aircraft engine production. The contract was over a ten year span and was intended to provide BMW with employment and profit until 1930 ("History of BMW", 2015). This directional shift resulted in great advantage for BMW as manufacturing power was allocated to BMW from Knorr–Bremse AG because they could not handle the demand they were receiving for manufacturing in their own factories. This allowed BMW to be accessible for governmental bodies to pursue contracted agreements. Bavarian trains were then fit and prepared for Knorr brakes in which the Bavarian government contracted with BMW permitting them to be the official Knorr brake producers of Bavaria because BMW was located in the homeland ("History of BMW", 2015). Furthermore, these conditions caused the company to pursue greater avenues which lead to the manufacturing of motorcycle engines. In 1921 BMW created the first motorized bicycle ... This is the age of globalisation, a term which has numerous definition (Dunning, 1997), but generally refers to a process of "tighter international linkages on a world–wide scale" (De Wit and Meyer, 1998). Traditional manufacturing countries mainly situated in the South–east Asia and Eastern Europe have gained corporate interests in attractive cheap labour (Meffert and Bloch, 1991). The loss of jobs contributes to the already worsening problem of unemployment and harms regional economy. A BBC report (Davis, 2003) shows that "Factory production fell by 4% in 2002, the largest annual slump since 1991" Corporate Insolvencies has occurred because companies are unable to keep up with global integration. MG Rover went into administration on April 8, with the loss of over 5,000 jobs (Harwood, 2005) Similar threats are also emitted from the service industry where there seems to be a trend towards outsourcing services to low labour cost countries e.g. call–centres to India. Such business voyage is encouraging as BT 's turnover increased by 11 percent in 2002 (Turner and Gardiner, 2007). Again the argument is about job loss; in addition, the pressure to out–source may cause businesses to drive down В‘real pay ' levels in order to compete more effectively (Blackwood, 2006). On the other hand, foreign investments have also created jobs in the UK. The amount of opportunities created depends on В•Direct jobs: size of the foreign owned industry and the intensity of its production process. According to the literature, a majority of sepsis cases filter though the Emergency department. The diagnosis and treatment of sepsis are complex and the barriers to improving these things are even more intricate but the fact remains that improvement of sepsis care begins in the ED. Early recognition of sepsis using the SIRS criteria followed by multidisciplinary rapid response diagnostic testing and treatment are the keys to improvement of sepsis care in the ED. The cornerstones of management of severe sepsis includes prompt diagnosis, timely administration of appropriate antibiotics, and aggressive resuscitation. Recognition of Sepsis in the ED. It is well known within health care professionals as well as the general public that, in the first hours of a myocardial infarction or cerebral vascular accident, time is tissue. This is also the case in severe sepsis and because of this, early recognition of sepsis is vital to improving outcomes. SIRS is the first line diagnostic for the recognition of sepsis. If the patient meets SIRS criteria, the next line of diagnostics is to test the serum lactate. Lactate is believed to be due to decreased end–organ perfusion, leading to anaerobic glycolysis and lactate production. Serum lactate is commonly used as a prognostic test for illness severity in ED patients with sepsis (Green et al., 2011). Resuscitation in the ED. Rapid Quantitative resuscitation is recommended in all patients with tissue hypoperfusion. According to the SSC guidelines, the goals of fluid resuscitation include a CVP of 8–12 mm Hg, a MAP > 65 mm Hg, urine

As a result, the company was losing its winning factor, which is desirability among customers. Tata Motors : An Indian Based Automaker 3.4.1 Tata Motors Tata Motors were traditionally positioned as an Indian based automaker that they had major market share in Indian's commercial truck and passenger cars. However, when it goes overseas, it hardly has any competitive advantages compared with traditional international brands that consumers would think of when they plan to purchase a car. Tata Motors were simply not on that list. Tata Motors were practically forced on the route of internationalization by its tragic failure in domestic market in the late 1990s. Tata Motors made some mistakes by assuming it can just march into mature international markets by partnering up with existing well–known brands, like what it did with Tata Tea. The partnership with MG Rover in an attempt to enter advanced European markets proved to be a failure because European consumers are more comfortable with well–established, quality guaranteed, and local based brands rather than a foreign company from a country that is not known for its performance in the motor vehicle industry. The only viable approach for Tata Motors is to build its international business incrementally. The most important part of a preferable strategy is to identify the needs of consumers and find ways to satisfy them, which Tata Motors successfully did by reducing the prices of its spare parts. Review of Related Literature The tropical fruit has emerged as a hot trend, with its nutritional components being promoted for health or fitness reasons. Coconut water is advertised as a refreshing, electrolyte–rich beverage suitable for replacing sports drinks. Not to be confused with the far richer coconut milk, coconut water is a clear liquid extracted from very young green coconuts. It's billed as "nature's sports drink" because like Gatorade and other energy drinks, it contains water for rehydration, carbohydrates in the form of sugar for energy, and electrolytes to replace what's lost through sweat. In most cases, the best way to restore your body's fluids and electrolytes after exercise is simply with water and food, particularly fruit. In cases of severe exertion or illness, however, a quick electrolyte boost may be necessary. For those reluctant to consume sports drinks with all their added colors, flavors, sweeteners and preservatives, nature has provided the perfect rehydrating drink and that is the coconut water. Coconut water is found inside the cavity of a young, unripe coconut. The balance of electrolytes in coconut water is nearly the same as that in the human blood.

It was decided to carry on and to try to cash in on the current economy car boom enjoyed so successfully by some of Germany 's ex–aircraft manufacturers such as Messerschmitt and Heinkel. The rights to manufacture the Italian Iso Isetta were bought, the tiny cars themselves were to be powered by a modified form of BMW 's own motorcycle engine.
