1. Looking back at your preliminarytask, what do you feel you
have learnt in the progressionfrom it to the full project?
I had developed quite a lot on my magazine production from the start to the end but in
ways I have also changed a lot with it because I haven’t either liked the idea of what I used
or how I went about doing it to get the section on the product that I don’t like, for example I
didn’t like the main image on my front cover because I felt like it didn’t either suit the page
itself with how it was presented or what it looked like with the rest of the magazine also the
graphic features I used towards the end of my final on my front cover I have edited them in
where as in the beginning I didn’t use any.
I have acquired a very large majority of skills over the past couple of months with using
Photoshop Cs6, QuarkXPress and other software programmes.
In Photoshop I have learnt how to use layer effects along with a higher more professional
standard of using the tools of Photoshop, with that as well QuarkXPress has taught me a lot
too in ways I never thought I would have learnt.
I have learnt how to create double page spreads properly along with a contents page as
well. With all three final products I have done a lot of work on them with changing how they
look also with how the layout is and the text, the little things mostly...the fonts, the size of
the text, the colour, placing...where I have chosen to place each section like the coverlines,
the headlines and just the general layout of my final pieces.
On the journey to creating my final pieces I have managed to learn new skills with things I
use everyday...for example camera skills, I have learnt so much in the time using a camera
for this production than I have with other things I have used a camera for.
Camera angles, all different types: High angle, Low angle, Mid-shot, Extreme long shot and
many more. My creative skills have improved vastly!
I am learning new things daily in the experience with my production because of being taught
types of ways to go about making a music magazine with getting the pictures to a
professional standard using different props with the character(s) being used in the front
cover or in the rest of the magazine depending if he magazine is having them feature in an
article or if a certain celebrity star gets their own page for each issue, also having the
text/fonts/colours and more being up to date with looking in top condition so the audience
is very pleased with their purchase to read/check out.
I am very pleased with the way my production has turned out because looking at how it
would of been if id of done this in the past it has surely turned out better now because of all
2. the things I have learned on trying to create a magazine that matches the codes and
conventions of a profession standard music magazine.
There were a few flaws for my final production which I looked into and changed.
