โข High thermal and Electrical conductivity.
โข Uses : electrical wires, pipes and metals, automobile radiators.
โข Combined with zinc to produce Brass and tin to produce
Bronze.
4. PRODUCTION IN INDIA:
โข Total metal ore insitu : 712.5 million tonnes.
โข Deposits are located in Jharkand, MP, Rajasthan.
โข In addition small deposits in Gujarat,
Karnataka,UP,AP,Meghalaya, Maharashtra,Sikkim, West Bengal.
โข Gradual increase of production betweean 1950-51 and 1970-71
and it stood at a record high of 5,255 thousand tonnes in 1990-91.
โข The production fell to 3,896 thousand tonnes in 1996-97. There
was a drastic fall in production in 1997-98 when it was 223
thousand tonnes only. Since 1997-98, the production remained at
a very low level and stood at 153 thousand tonnes only in 2002-03.
9. RECYCLING CHAMPION
โข Total of around 9 million tonnes of copper per
year come from the recycling of โoldโ scrap.
โข Approx. 24 million tonnes of copper were used
globally in 2010 ; 35 percent of this was sourced
through recycling.
11. INDIAN COPPER SLIPS
โข Copper ended the session on 29 Nov 2016 at INR 392.95 per
kg. The prices tested a high of INR 397.95 per kg and a low of
INR 389.10 per kg. Indian Copper slipped in a single session
as sentiments turned down on Tuesday. The prices breached
Rs 400 which was an active psychological zone. This means
that prices can move lower until some positives reemerge.
