PROCUREMENT OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCES AIID PAYMENT OF MSP TO
FARMERS

Will the Minister of CONSUMER AFFAIRS, FOOD AND PUBLIC DISTRIBUTION
be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Ministry has data on the total amount of agricultural produces procured by
Food Corporation of India (FCI) and private players, and if so, the details from 2015 till date,
year-wise;
(b) the total quantity of wheat and paddy procured by the FCI since March 2019, State-
Wise; and
(c) whether the Ministry has studied the total number of farmers who availed the Minimum
Support Price (MSI') and if so, the details thereofl
(a): Procurement of wheat and paddy is done by Centralized Procurement System and
Decentralized Procurement (DCP) System.
Under Centralized Procurement System, the procurement ofwheat and paddy in Central
Pool are undertaken either by FCI directly or through State Covemment agencies. Under
Decenralized Procurement (DCP) System, the State Govemment itself undertakes direct
purchase of paddy and wheat. Food Corporation of India (FCI) is the Central nodal agency for
procurement of wheat and Paddy. Total quantity of Wheat and Paddy procured by FCI from
Marketing Season 2014- l5 is as under:

Private plal/ers were engaged by FCI in Jharkhand, Uttar pradesh and West Bengal, in
order to increase the spread of Minimum support price (MSp) operations in eastem states ofthe
country during KMS 2015-16 to KMS 2017-18 i.e. lor three years.
Total procurement of Paddy by private players engaged by FCI under MSp operations
during KMS 2015-16 to KMS 2017-18 is as under:
