1. Evaluation Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt from it to the full product?
2. Throughout the process of this project, I have expanded my knowledge of technology, techniques and conventions of music magazines. Firstly, just by comparing my two magazines, I can see that I have added a wide range of techniques to key elements of the magazine, such as, the title having a more interesting and eye caching font. This is due to techniques called drop shadow and outer glow which I developed after creating my student mag. Along with the masthead comparison, the headlines have also improved drastically through the use of quirky backgrounds/text boxes. The ones featured on my music magazine were created by using large letters of textured fonts, which is something that has been added to my knowledge of adobe in-design. Changing the size of some letters in a series of text is also a new technique that I have picked up whilst constructing this product in order to make it more aesthetically pleasing. Music Magazine and Student Magazine covers.
3. The main element of technical knowledge that I have gained from my contents page is the layout and angular positioning of text and images. On my student magazine, there was a very simple, organised structure that isn’t very alluring to viewers compared to the more complex column styled text pattern. This not only allowed me to fit in more text, but to also give it a more professional look, something that I wasn’t able to do at the start of the project. Music and Student Magazines contents pages. The last technique that I used when creating my final product was angular placement of images and text boxes in order to create an ‘edge’ within the design. This method of positioning was brought through from the front cover and has been developed along with my understanding of how to present certain information on a page, in a creative way.
