Being in a charter school, the academic school day is much different than in a public school. My CT, has to have her lesson plan turned in and
approved at least 2 weeks prior to the lesson. There is no room for error, let alone the students not understanding any lesson. If a lesson is taught on a
Monday, the classroom will be moving on to the next lesson on Tuesday, regardless if the students understand the lesson or not. There is also no

When it comes to differentiated instruction, there is none. When it comes to the student whose L1 is not English, she is stuck guessing on many of
their assessments. Many times, the language of the test is content–specific academic language, which is much more difficult for the individual to
understand. This could easily be adjusted by, making sure the student is taught the specific language throughout the lesson and unit. Another course of

Department of Psychology and Institution for Social and Policy Analysis at Yale University, is a plea to educators and legislators alike to thoroughly
consider the possible effects of creating and funding charter schools. Sarason's background in the field, at the time of publication, spanned over fifty

Seymour B. Sarason makes some excellent points and makes sure to instill a sense of agency and urgency within the reader, as to why they should
care and how they can go about being effective in working with these new organizations. However, I chose not to use this piece in my final project.
The reason for this choice is simple: The information was not relevant in the context of my argument. While this book is by all means a reputable
source of information, the book was published in 1998, almost twenty years prior to my presentation, making the source out of date. Though many of
the claims were accurate for the time, not all are accurate for today. Charter Schools was a good read, but the information I need for my presentation
looks at a more recent scope of the subject and how it affects students today and how it may affect future students. Sarason's text would have been

High test scores equal improved academic success and charter schools use segregation as a method of controlling the results of these standardized
tests. One way that charter schools use segregation to manipulate the outcome of test scores is by implementing a lottery system for admission. This

The Florida Department of Education describes charter schools as public schools of choice. Due to their rising popularity, charter schools are some

Every parent wants a good education for their child no matter if the school is a public school or a charter school. The passing of this ballot will
allow the approval of twelve new charter schools or enrollment to increase by 1% statewide in already existing charter schools by the state Board
of Elementary and Secondary Education each year. Hearing about charter schools expanding would gain the supporters of those who have a child
on a waiting list. There are those who already have a child in a public school and worries that passing this law will cause their school to lose many

$490–million dollar plan In California there is frequent debate over the performance of public schools throughout the state. It is known that many of
the state's public schools are poorly funded and lay in disrepair. It is also accompanied by bad test scores and underperforming students which is not
necessarily the schools fault. Article one discusses a possible solution with an ambitious $490–million plan to place half of Los Angeles students into
charter schools within the next eight years. Charter schools are publicly financed, independently run and are exempt from some of the rules that govern
other traditional campuses. Details of the plan have yet to be released but the major contributors include the locally based Eli and Edyth Broad
Foundation along with the Keck and Walton Family Foundations and other charter advocates. The proposed plan would create 260 new charter schools
and enroll at least 130,000 students (Blume 2015). The foundations have publicly declined to release important information on the policy but apparently
have a strategy in place for moving forward, including the recruitment and training of teachers and how to raise money. The plan has already

Next, I observed the standards, differentiated instruction, and the phonemic and phonics lessons in the class. The essential questions and standards are
listed in the front of the classroom but are never referred to. I think that differentiation is a big part of this class, especially because of the number of
students with individualized education plans. During lessons, the entire class will meet around the rug for instructions and introductions. After the class
