The document discusses the script construction process for a news broadcast. It outlines ensuring scripts followed established news theories and targeting the audience. Multiple drafts were created and reviewed by peers and teachers. Language used in the scripts was formal and concise to engage viewers. Tasks were divided equally between two group members, with the script length designed to fill a required 5 minute time slot. Coherent scripts assisted with smooth recording and editing.
2. When we wrote our scripts for our news broadcasts we ensured that they all followed the news
theories which I have discussed earlier on my research and planning page. The purposed of doing
this was so that we would be able to target our audience easily and meet their needs as well as
producing stories which consisted of continuity.
3. Firstly, we researched and looked at existing news stories and then used
these to incorporate into our own broadcast; at the same time we ensured
that we were original with all of our script writing. We produced multiple
drafts of our scripts for the soft, hard and weather forecast as we were
constantly given feedback by our peers and our teachers as improvement was
needed. Once we made the changes required; we were then able to record
our actual news broadcast.
4. Processes
We ensured that the language used in the script was formal and concise. This was
because we wanted to keep the attention of the viewers and if we used big words
which they didn’t understand; it would deter them from continuing to watch. We
looked at existing news broadcasts and replicated the type of language they used in
order to engage and keep the attention of our user.
Due to the fact that there was only 2 of us in our group, Hasan and I divided the
tasks equally between us, I was the main anchor in the studio and Hasan was the field
correspondent. It was required of us to create an Ancillary task which lasted a total
of 5 minutes. Due to this, we made sure that our script wasn’t too long nor to short
as we needed to fill this time. Finally, in order to assist us when filming; we made
sure that all our scripts were coherent so that when it came to recording we did not
find it difficult presenting and saying out loud what was written on the script. This
saved us time and enabled us to spend more time editing.
