An information system is a work system whose internal functions are limited to processing information by performing six
types of operations: capturing, transmitting, storing, retrieving, manipulating, and displaying information. (Alter, 2000)
“An information system can be defined technically as a set of interrelated components that collect (or retrieve) process,
store and distribute information to support decision making and control in an organization.” [Lauden, K. and Lauden, J.,
pg. 14] (M. Artz, 2017)
A system of functions concerning the acquisition and transfer of information, the carriers of which can be biological,
personal, social or technical units. An information system is dedicated to a certain kind of information (topic), even if this
may be a very broad one. It has always the purpose of providing information to a user or a group of users. In most cases,a
storage device is part of an information system. (Mattia, 2003)
I chose the information systems major because I love learning information systems, the wide-ranging information systems
can be managed by individuals, can be used by work groups or organizational departments. Information systems also play
a role in various businesses (J. Power & Hadidi, 2018)
Other than that I am interested in information systems because information systems are related to information technology
that is used by faithful people in everyday life even in work groups, organizations, and information technology societies
that have a profound impact on the flow of work mobility in the globalization era such as recently (Lee,1996)
from learning information systems, I hope that when I graduate, I can become a competent and professional person in his
field because information systems require hardware, software, and certainly those who use them to share information
within a company organization. (Al-Mamary, et al., 2014)
