Editor's Notes
ThingLink Amber Wilson – waiting for her permission to show it
This side of the flyer has too much text – most people would just skim over it
Less text; visuals more prominent; easy to see the stark contrasts – message very clear and powerful
Ask Jordan Huffman to report on her LP using Canva to promote Media Literacy
Each TC explores the site to find photos that could enhance either the LP they just created or other lessons they will be teaching in their upcoming block (Task on next slide)
Ask Stephanie Hincks how she plans to use this
Links are on Sakai page for week 11. Each table group will receive a print statement of the Ethical Standards and a set of 4 posters, each representing one of the Ethical Standards (care; trust; respect; integrity). The titles have been removed. They will “read” the posters, looking for symbols and storylines that correspond best to one of the ethical standards. Will attach a post-it to each to record their guesses. Then they will go to the document with an artist’s statement about each and see how well their guesses aligned with the artist’s intentions. Points include the need to “read” multiple text forms and the recognition that Indigenous cultures have a sophisticated system of visual symbols to convey meaning. Must be appreciated along with written language.
