Amber Heard Divorce Case Study
Amber Heard did not just decide to divorce Johnny Depp without having some proof to back up her
accusations. She apparently kept a journal of every incident that happened between Johnny and her.
Radar Online, June 1, 2016, reported that Amber has a pile of evidence to support her case that she
was living with a man who abused her. A source told Radar Online, "Amber has keep a secret
photographic portfolio of all injuries sustained at the hands of Johnny over their relationship. "
Apparently, Johnny Depp's character changed when he drank and the more he drank, the meaner he
became. The source went on to say that, Johnny "Physically abused her three to four times every
year." Amber Heard must have thought about divorce when the first incident happened because she

"Johnny has a long–held and widely–acknowledged public and private history of drug and alcohol
abuse," Amber claims that Johnny's quick temper paranoia caused her to fear for her life. Her friend,
Raquel rose Pennington also wrote to the courts claiming, "Many times over the past few years,
Amber has confided and complained to me about Johnny's abusing her, both physically and
verbally." Johnny Depp and Amber first met on the set of "The Rum Diary" in 2011, but they didn't
start dating until March 2013. They kept this off the public radar until July when their relationship
was announced during a press tour for The Lone Ranger. By January 2014, the two were engaged
and they became husband and wife in February 2015. A source told People magazine that Amber

Essay on The Amber Room

The Amber Room Three hundred years ago, there was a great treasure, which was built by human
hands. It is called the Amber Room. Art experts from Germany said it should be the 8th wonder of
world due to its beauty. History, when recorded, is evidence that shows that the past actually
happened. However, the Amber Room did not have the fate to stay in a physical form and became
one of the interesting mysteries of the century. Many researchers are interested to discover the
mystery of the Amber Room, however the mystery is still under the veil of mystery. It is because of
"misplacing" due to World War II. It has a huge contribution to the interesting mystery. Although,

The walls can cover a room that is 50 feet wide by 16 feet high. The Amber Room covered the 16
walls out of 20 walls of the Petersburg Winter Palace. Queen Zarin thought the Winter Palace was
too spacious for the Amber Room and therefore relocated the Amber Room to the Summer Palace.
The Summer Palace room was perfectly fit for the Amber Room because the Summer Palace Room
was smaller in size and would make the Amber Room stand out and look even more amazing. Now
the Summer Palace of Zar is also called The Catharine Palace in honor of Queen Catharine I. Later
Catharine II chose the Amber Room as her favorite place. Therefore she gave the order to the
architect, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and his team to do some additional pieces for the Amber
Room. Bartolomoe was born in Italy, and he was the major architect of the Russian Winter Palace
and Catherine Palace. Bartolomoe added 24 large mirrors that were placed between the 12 Amber
panels. The Amber Room originally came with 3 doors. Above the 2 main doors, there was a
wooden Supraportes, which is a decorative panel above the door and a horizontal format covered
with gold. The White doors of the Amber Room were decorated with wood and gold. The Amber
Room floor was covered with fine parquet materials that have an extraordinary painting. The floor
painting adds beautiful color to the Amber Room. The Amber Room's final form stayed from

Essay about Child Abduction in the United States
Child Abduction in the United States
It is every parent's worst nightmare. It could occur in your front yard, in front
of the school, in your house, in a store, or anywhere. Just imagine you're in your
favorite department store not but a mile away from your home and you lose sight of your
child. You look down the aisles, have your child paged, and check out at your car all to
no avail. This is exactly what happened with Reve Walsh, mother of young Adam
Walsh. This is her account of what happened from the book, Tears of Rage, written by
John Walsh and posted on the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
website.
Adam and his mother went to the store to shop for lamps. The store was ... Show more content on

Revé was positive that Adam
would not go out the west door. The toy department clerk said she had not seen Adam.
Revé started asking anyone she could find, but they all said the same things.
Oh, well, he probably just wandered off.
I'll bet he went looking for you.
Well you know how kids are, maybe he went off with the rest of the kids.
Revé kept insisting that her son did not wander off, and that something was
wrong. All around, clerks kept waiting on people as if nothing had happened. She asked a
clerk to page her son. "Adam Walsh, please meet your mother in the toy department."
Nothing. After going to her car twice to see if Adam had gone there and looking for him
on her own for two hours, someone finally called the police department.
The police later interviewed a security guard from the store who said that on the
day of Adam's disappearance, there had been four boys playing with the video game in
the toy department. They started causing a ruckus. She separated them and sent two boys
out the north entrance and two out the west entrance. If Adam had been put out the west
entrance, he would have been disoriented because he only knew the north entrance.
By the end of the first week, 150,000 fliers had been printed and 50,000 of them
distributed locally. Adam's photograph was on the poster. The photograph chosen had

Sanger Rainsford: The Realist
The most dangerous game began as a sport for one man. His name is Sanger Rainsford. In Richard
Connell's story "The Most Dangerous Game," Sanger Rainsford, an avid hunter, is lost at sea,
stranded on "Ship–Trap" Island–every sailor's worst nightmare. Rainsford goes through a series of
events that prove to be life–altering. Even though Sanger Rainsford went through many trials and
tribulations, he never lost his intelligence, composure, or his bravery.
Rainsford is an intelligent man. Early in the story, "Rainsford remembered the shots. They had come
from the right, and he doggedly swam in that direction" (34). Rainsford had just fallen in the water,

Rainsford answers, "Yes, that's so" (85). Rainsford could have taken a stand. Of course, it is not his
place, but he was calm and composed to sit back and let Zaroff open up. '"Don't be alarmed, I'm
Sanger Rainsford" (47). Rainsford has a pistol pointed at his heart and he is telling this huge
creation of a man that he is hungry. As much as he has been through in the past twenty–four hours,
this did not alarm Rainsford. He presented himself as lost and from New York.
Rainsford is certainly a brave character. '"Hunting, Good God, General Zaroff, what you speak of is
murder" (110). Rainsford is composed until he figures out that Zaroff's new species is human beings.
Rainsford has just met this man, doesn't know where he is or anything about those people but he still
puts his foot down. Rainsford knew it was murder, and so did Zaroff, but it was brave for Rainsford
to tell him he would not keep a secret of what Zaroff was doing and Rainsford demanded to be taken
home immediately. Rainsford was brave to tell Zaroff, straight forward, that he would not participate
in his game. '"Ivan," he said to Rainsford, "will supply you with hunting clothes, food, and a knife"'
(170). Rainsford was now in the game and had to participate. His bravery came out when a three day
duel was forced against his will.
General Zaroff was ultimately defeated. Zaroff was never a match for the intelligence, composure,

El-Ahrairah And The Burning Valley Chapter Summary
El–ahrairah and the Burning Valley When El–ahrairah and Rabscuttle decided to search out a land
for some rabbits wishing to start a warren, they had no idea what they were in for. With bad air,
columns of hot water shooting into the sky, and mysterious creatures, will they make it out of the
Burning Valley alive? Thunder broke on the downs, sending a group of feeding rabbits scurrying for
cover. Hazel watched them from the mouth of the Honeycomb, nodding to himself when everyone
seemed to be underground. "Whew!" said Bigwig, grooming himself with his paws. "It's going to be
pretty wild out there soon." "No silflay tonight," agreed Hazel. "I don't think this storm'll clear up
for quite a while." "How about a story while we're waiting?" asked Fiver. "Come on, Dandelion." ...

Poetry Is Not A Luxury, In 'Fahrenheit 451'
Audre Lorde: "For women, then, poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence."
Pieces of a Pie: Reading Between the Lines
Forms of literature and storytelling have existed since the beginning of time, allowing people to gain
knowledge, share ideas, and further advance society. Reading stimulates the intellectual thought that
is necessary for both individual and societal growth, leaving one to question the implications that
would occur if literature could not exist. The book Fahrenheit 451 explores a society where
literature is banned, thus causing priorities to revolve around materialism and meaningless,
superficial interaction. This book is a warning: it shows the reader how empty our lives could be
without literature (Bradbury). All forms of literature have the power to advance an individual's
mind, as well as that of the entire society. The exploration of how progress is made is compelling; it
can be analyzed through a variety of lenses. Progress begins with an idea, and ideas are often
expressed in writing. How can literature, specifically poetry, play a role in progression?
"Poetry is Not a Luxury," written by Audre Lorde in 1985, explores the ways in which poetry
inspires freedom and change amongst women and people of color who do not have a voice. Lorde
describes herself as a "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet" (Poetry Foundation), an experienced
outsider to society, therefore the goal of her writing is to empower those who feel powerless. Lorde

Techniques Used by Kidnappers to Control Their Victims Essay
Many kidnappings that have happened around the United States mainly connect with children
wanting to leave with a stranger even though they know that it is wrong. How is it that adults are
capable of luring children into coming with them even though they are complete strangers?
Furthermore, do not parents teach their kids not to go with strangers and if it does happen that they
should scream for help? Sure, yet children still willingly go with strangers. Perhaps something about
them kidnapers convinces children that it is okay. Statistics show that ninety–eight percent of
abducted children do not survive beyond the first 30 days (Smart 4). Some tactics that kidnappers
use on their kidnap children are brainwashing, hypnosis, and physical ... Show more content on

Brian used references that resonated with the scriptures that Elizabeth learned in Primary classes.
Changing her name and dressing her in white robes were acts that mirrored sacred Mormon
practices. For members of this church would wear long, white robes in the temple, and they are
given new names when they wed. He made Elizabeth believe that he was "not only her savior, but
her spiritual leader, husband, father and lover" (Christenson 2). Because Elizabeth was an obedient

true beliefs and identify from the distorted, destructive ones Mitchell imposed on her (Christenson

questionable statements sound convincing. When victims are held captive they are forced to listen to

Why Is Curriculum Important
Exam #1
1. What is curriculum and why is it important?
Curriculum is a difficult topic to define. There are many variations of curriculum types and ways in
which it can be defined. Curriculum can be defined as a sequence of steps laid out in order to create
a plan for achieving goals, particularly in education. Saylor, Alexander, and Lewis define curriculum
as a plan for providing sets of learning opportunities for how individuals can become educated
(Ornstein & Hunkins P. 8). Wiles and Bondi view curriculum as a development process where the
philosophy becomes identified, the students ability is assessed, methods for possible instruction are
considered, strategies are implemented, assessment devices are chosen, and this process is one that
is continually adjusted (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 8).
Curriculum can also be defined as dealing with learner's experiences meaning that anything planned
in or out of school is part of the curriculum. This is the definition that humanistic curricularists
follow (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 9). Individuals who discuss curriculum in theoretical terms as
opposed to practical terms tend define curriculum as a field of study. However, most U.S. school
districts tend to define curriculum in terms of subject matter. Subject matter and content can be
discussed in terms of the subject itself as well as the content regarding grade levels.
Curriculum is important to the health and development of schools and society (Ornstein & Hunkins
P. 1). Curriculum is

The Dallas Amber Plan was started in 1997 to help safely recover missing children police believed
to have been abducted. Since then, the program has successfully recovered eight children (State of
Indiana Amber Alert Plan, 2010). Although the Amber Alert plan is named after Amber Hagerman,
this national program is now dedicated to all children nationwide who have been abducted (State of
Indiana Amber Alert Plan, 2010). According to the United States Department of Justice, up to 4,600
children are abducted by strangers every year, (about 12 children everyday), (State of Indiana Amber
Alert Plan). The Indiana Amber Alert Plan was not instituted until October 1, 2002 (State of Indiana
Amber Alert Plan, 2010). This statewide program was put in effect to locate abducted and
endangered children within the first twenty–four hours following the crime. Each city and state
Amber Alert program is administered differently, but all have to be in compliance with the national
Emergency Alert System, sometimes called the Emergency Broadcast System; whose procedures are
approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Each program establishes its own Amber

Child Abduction: Missing Without a Trace
Child Abduction: Missing without a Trace Today, we are all here gathered for Eli Davis, a charming,
charismatic little boy with a smile that would brighten anyone's day. His laugh was loud, but loved
many, his eyes were big and bright, but we cannot say the same about his future because he never
got the chance. No one saw it coming, but it came, and if we could turn back the hands of time to
work in Elis favor it would be handled with the snap of a finger. If only we were more caring,
careful, cautious then maybe we could have saved a young life. Little Eli was abducted from his
own home by a sick, twisted psychopath in the middle of the night and found in 3 different locations
because his body parts were separated. Today we are gathered here to burry what is left of Eli Davis.
Eli is not the only innocent child who has fell victim to one of these horrible abductions, there are a
countless number of children who have suffered the same fate. With this being said, America should
take action to expunge these horrid child abductions because they are killing our innocent children,
traumatizing our loved ones, and killing our population/future. Child abduction is the unauthorized
removal of a minor from the custody of the child's natural parents or legally appointed guardians.

800,000 children are reported missing every year. There are some families who are blessed because

Amber Hagerman's Case

This paper was prepared for Criminal Law, Section 2,
Instructed by Stacey Callaway.
In 1996, a 9 year old girl, Amber Hagerman was riding her bike around the neighborhood when a
neighbor heard her scream. The neighbor witnessed the little girl being pulled off her bike, by a
man, and thrown into a pickup truck. The neighbor called the police, and Amber's brother went
home and notified their parents. After contacting a man who had a similar event happen to his
daughter, the family began contacting the media and the FBI. Neighbors, friends and family began
searching for Amber, and after the media aired information about her case, most in Arlington, Texas

Amber Hagerman's case is unsolved, to date. In February 2011 the police was lead into a child
pornography and trafficking network resulting in the police questioning a man, Bill Fry. In 1996 Fry,
who has been living in Arizona, had an apartment in Texas not far from the location Amber was
abducted. By August the police raided Fry's home. While the police found child pornography, Fry
was dismissed by the police from being a suspect in the Hagerman's case (The Tarrant County
Observer, 2011). Because there has been no arrest, no trial, and the case is still open and being
investigated, the case information is unattainable.
While the court may not have made a decision which began the legislative process changing a law,
the Amber Hagerman case is still a landmark case because it is responsible for The Amber Alert
system. Because the idea to quickly find Amber via the media and broadcast agencies was
successful, the idea of using the media to locate a child became more routine. It is designed to locate
and retrieve a child who has been kidnapped and or missing and in possible danger. The word
Amber became an acronym for America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response.
After Texas began using the Amber Alert system more routinely, more states began adopting the
Amber Alert as well. 3 years later, the White House held a conference to discuss Missing and

AMBER Alerts are issued after law enforcement determines that there has been abduction. Law
enforcement must believe that the missing child is in danger of harm. An Alert can only be issued by
law enforcement. Abductions by strangers are the most dangerous and are the primary mission of the
Alert. AMBER Alerts are issued for children under the age of seventeen. Each state has its own age
limits, but the majority uses seventeen as the cut off. Descriptive information is given of the missing
child, the abductor, and the abductor's vehicle used in the abduction. The missing child's name is
placed into the National Crisis Information Center (NCIC) system. Not only is the AMBER Alert
named after Amber Hagerman, but AMBER also stands for America's Missing Broadcast
Emergency Response (Child Abduction, AMBER Alert, and Crime Control Theater). About 250 to

America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response or Amber Alert Plan, as many know it, is a way
of alerting the citizens of Texas, and the United States as a whole of when a child has been abducted.
The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 in the Dallas Fort Worth area when a broadcasting team
collaborated with the local police to make an early warning system to warn people to be on the
lookout for abducted children. This idea was conceived as a legacy to Amber Hagerman, a nine year

The AMBER alert system is very well run and has saved a lot of children from possibly life altering
situations. The only change that I would make is one of informational prevention. What I mean by
that is we must inform the public, not only when an AMBER alert is emitted but before so we can
prevent a possible situation. I believe this starts within the home, as parents they must monitor their
children's time online to ensure they are not talking to people who they are not supposed to be
talking to. While the Internet is a great tool it is also a great medium for possible predators to begin
to stalk your children. Parents must be aware of who their children are speaking to online to prevent
the possibility of an abduction in the future. Other precautions are very simple as well, such as being
aware of where they are and setting boundaries and rules of where they could be at certain times.
Another precaution could be as simple as ensuring the child has an up to date Identification card. In
the home, parents should also warn the children of possible dangers from strangers and possible
situations that if they are found in a difficult situation how they should react. Parents must also be
informed of the truth about abductions. According to kidshealth.org most children who are reported
missing have run away or are just lost. Those who are truly abducted, most are taken by a family
member or someone well trusted; the other 25% are taken by strangers. Lastly, the website informs
us that most kids are in their teens when they are abducted. This information is crucial to helping
prevent the possible abduction and should be readily available to all families in order to prevent
situations like that of Amber

Essay about Timeless Work: an Analysis of Marvin Gaye
Timeless Work: An Analysis of Marvin Gaye Marvin Gaye grew up surrounded by the art of music.
Born in the nations capital on April 2, 1939, Gaye's ageless sounds and intriguing vocals still
influence the world today. Gaye's father, a minister in the Apostolic Church, played a foremost role
in Marvin's musical education. In fact, most of Marvin's inspiration for religious topics came from
the church music he grew up singing. Through the art of song, musical icon Marvin Gaye uses
pathos, symbolism, and imagery with an objective to connect to listeners on tremendously personal
levels. Marvin Gaye's first hit "What's Going On?" makes use of symbolism in his general topic

It also pleads to let the people have their outlooks and views with out concern of being quieted or
attacked. In the song "Mercy, Mercy Me", imagery and symbolism exist as two key archetypes that
draw out the elements of pathos in Gaye's lyrics. The 1960's environmentalist, also known as
Hippies, opened America's eyes and revealed the gruesome lack of respect they exhibited towards
the Earth. Ignorant Americans used the planet as a dumping ground, unaware of the catastrophic
outcomes. Gaye wrote "Mercy, Mercy Me" from an environmentalists perspective and depicts a
devastating portrayal of mans unconstructive impact on the Earth using imagery. The imagery used
in "Mercy, Mercy Me" makes the mind ponder on how Gaye attempts to convince listeners to take a
more philosophical approach to life that emphasizes respect for others and the earth. He illustrates
the contamination of oceans and murder of marine life that remains a result of man's carelessness. A
decade before, these issues were not relevant to the Earth "Oh things ain't what they used to be", as
Gaye points out in "Mercy, Mercy Me". For example, in the 1960's countries began to industrialize
rapidly, which only meant additional factories and buildings resulting in excessive pollution in the
atmosphere. Gaye also uses the archetype symbolism in this quote: "Animals and birds who live
nearby are dying."(Gaye)

of my faith even in the dark moments and when I feel like I'm failing. It portrays my desire to be a

The actors do not talk, they mouth the lyrics and use actions and facials to tell a story. Around

would hope that my actions would point others to someone who could give them that. I'm not doing
so well in it myself, but I know I can do better. I also believe this shirt portrays my crazy side
through the font on the front. It's something not common, it stands out. My team came up with the
name. I honestly don't remember who thought of Jive 2 Thrive and I'm kind of surprised the guys in
the group didn't say anything. Anyway, the only time I wore the shirt was when I was around my
team and I see that I only step out of my comfort zone is when I'm around my friends.

Summary Of The Poem Before I Got My Eye Put Out
In both of Emily Dickinson's poem she refers to her sight. In the poem, "Before I Got My Eye Put
Out," it's about her lost of sight, but throughout the poem she has many metaphors about her lost of
sight. Like in the first stanza she's talking about how she liked and enjoyed her sight when it was
good but didn't appreciate it as much when she had it. Then in her other poem, "We Grow
Accustomed to the Dark," it's saying how her sight is bad but she's getting used to the dark and can
get around much easier towards the end of the poem. In stanza four she is saying how the brave
stumbles in the dark but learns to walk properly. Finally the attitude of the poem, "Before I got my
eye put out," is kind of regretful because she wasn't grateful for her sight when she had it but now
regrets that. In the poem, "We grow accustomed to the dark," the speaker shows perseverance when
she talks about trying and trying to get used to the dark and adjust to it. In this poem, "Before I got
my eye put out," the speaker is talking about how she misses her sight in the first stanza saying,
"Before I got my eye put out – I liked as well to see..." this shows that she liked her vision. Then
says, "...And know no other way," I think this means that she knows no other way to see like she
used to before. This means that she regrets not appreciating her eyes as much and realizes that when
she loses her sight. Then in stanza four she says, "The motions of the dipping birds – the morning's
Amber road – for mine – to look at when I liked..." In this part the speaker is saying how she used to
see the dipping birds and amber roads but now that her sights isn't as good she misses all of that.
After all of the images she misses seeing she says, "The news would strike me dead," she was
shocked and very sad about the news. Then in the poem, "We grow accustomed to the dark," the
speaker talks about how she's slowly getting used to the dark. At first she's talking how she need the
neighbors lamp light to help her find her way. Then explains how the first steps she was uncertain of
and her vision will adjust to the dark and help her walk straighter. Then in stanza four she says, "The
bravest – grope a little – and sometimes

York; Oxford: Oxford University Press; 2016.
Abina Mansah: An Overlooked History Abina Mansah, like many other women in her time, was a
young Akan woman who was wrongfully enslaved by her captors. Although slavery was made
illegal in 1875, many "important men" continued to seize youthful slaves – female ones in
particular, because they were less likely to run away and seek liberation. Despite this, Abina refused
to be a slave under the authority of her master, Quamina Eddoo. With the help of court interpreter
James Davis, she attempted to force the court system to hear her voice. Young enslaved women like
Abina are often talked about in history, but never the ones to write historical documents themselves.
Their voices are hidden beneath the voices of important men, and this left women like Abina
frustrated and angry. As a student of the history of gender, Abina's story and her initiative to
challenge the authority others had over her shows us the importance of being heard, and how young
women's expressions are often disregarded and deemed less significant than those of important men.
The first element of Abina's story that depicts Abina's desire to be heard and how her voice was
buried under an Important Man's was the case in court. Quamina Eddoo, Abina's master who had
purchased her from Yaw Awoah, was a powerful and

REVIEW OF LITERATURE
HISTORY OF THE AMBER ALERT
January 13, 1996, AMBER Hagerman was riding her bike in Arlington, TX with her little brother.
She rode a short distance farther than she was supposed to and her brother turned around and went
back home. In that short span of time, a driver of a black truck pulled up, picked up AMBER and
drove away. Luckily a neighbor watched the incident and called the police immediately with a
description of the truck. Unfortunately, her body was found 4 days later with her throat cut. She had
been alive for 2 days before her death. Her death sparked an outcry from parents across the nation.
Radio stations in the Dallas area were the first to answer that outcry. They teamed up with local law
enforcement to help launch the first AMBER alert system. It was named in honor of AMBER
Hagerman. The official name for an AMBER alert now is also America's Missing Broadcast
Emergency Response System. It wasn't until 2009 that every state, District of Columbia, Puerto
Rico and the Virgin Islands had an AMBER alert plan in place. Every state follows a set of
suggested guidelines handed down from the Department of Justice. The first is to confirm the
abduction. The second is to establish the risk of serious injury or bodily harm. In the case of stranger
abduction, this is already established without further investigation. Third there must

Explain factors that may influence communication & interpersonal interactions in health and
social care environments.
I will be explaining the barrier which may have influenced the case study of Mr and Mrs Singh's
meeting with the MDT and how environmental factors influenced the interaction within the meeting.
I am going to be looking at environmental factors such as, noise, setting, seating, lighting, space and
time.
Case Study
Mrs Singh has recently had major surgery and the meeting is aimed at organising a discharge
package for Mrs Singh.
Mrs Singh would most probably not feel 100% and may feel unwell and unable to give her full
attention and feel like her decisions could be the wrong one.

This would give of the impression that she is an aggressive person at the least and give the
impression of not being bothered about Mrs. Singh's situation. For her having to raise her voice to
be heard over the environmental noise it is most obvious that the setting in which they are in is a bad
one and it must be very loud and busy. As the MDT begin to discuss Mrs Singh. Alot of medical
terminology is used. This is Jargon and Mrs And Mrs singh will be confused and unsure of what is
being spoke about them also, they both speak minimal English which would be even more difficult
for them to comprehend and convert into what they would recognize.
On a positive note the MDT would get their own points over quicker to one another because they
would all understand what is being said and decided. Although Mr. and Mrs Singh have no say and
wouldn't understand because of the language and Jargon used. They would no longer feel part of the
meeting and feel to agree on everything that has been spoken and decided for them. Time is very
limited and the doctors need to leave very shortly, they would no longer understand what is being
said and they would not be able to ask any questions as they would of felt rushed. They would not
understand the decision and outcome made for them.
This then led to Mrs Singh being uninterested due to all of them environmental factors which have
confused her. They both nod their heads intermittently, this suggests

A Short Story : A Story?
He trudged deliberately slow, his steps hesitant and afraid. The girl behind him was silent. She ought
to be, he thought bitterly. She was the one who caused this in the first place. He tried to form any
other thoughts but the one idea that circled his head was of his utter demise. He squared his
shoulders, awkwardly pushing out his lanky chest. The sound of wooden wheels clattering against
the ground made him turn in anger. He brought his foot harshly and kicked her. She screamed,
tumbling to the dirt. He smirked, some of his annoyance sent elsewhere. He continued to walk,
listening to her small grunts of pain as she, he assumed, was trying to get back on her plank. When
they made it to the oversized mansion, he snapped his fingers at her. She blinked, looking down
immediately. "Do not enter unless I order you to do so." He opened the door and entered the house,
almost bumping into servants scurrying with dishes and plates in their hands. He cursed, wiping the
inevitable sweat from his forehead. The plan he had forged in his head was briskly disintegrating.
He passed the long hall and stopped at the largest room. He swallowed and brought his hand to the
door. Knocked twice. "Come in." A deep voice answered. He sauntered inside. It was not a grand
room for a wealthy nobleman but for some strange reason, the man favored it. "What have you

Music In A Streetcar Named Desire
I personally identify with Blanche. She knows she is going crazy and she tries to hide her mental
state with more lies piled on. After Blanche goes through the traumatic experiences of living and
losing Belle Reve, she refuses to admit anything is wrong. She continues living her life the way she
always did, and I fear because I know I would take a similar route. I know I will never admit when
anything is wrong, and I will try to fix a problem before it starts. Blanche's problem is she has
finally lost everything; her solution is moving away and acting as if the problem never happened.
Reading through "A Streetcar Named Desire" made me understand how similar I am to Blanche
DeBois. If it was not for how the play was written, I am sure I would not have these feelings
towards Blanche. Tennessee Williams, the writer of the play, uses music, objects, and sound or
dialogue to further explain drama in "Streetcar Named Desire". Using music helps the audience
distinguish relationships between characters. Blanche hears the Varsouviana Polka whenever she
thinks of Alan, and the only thing that can stop her music is the gunshot that ended Alan's life. Since
the music she hears is in her head, no one else can hear the gunshot. The last time Blanche can hear
the music the gunshot can be heard, yet the music does not stop. This has started her mental break
because in her mind everything is going fine, yet in the world the characters start understanding who
Blanche is and how she does not

Reflection About Sports
My life has consisted of many sports. Sports has been a part of my life for a while now every since I
can remember. The sports I played throughout the years has been baseball, football, soccer, and I ran
track. Throughout the years I played these sports has been some challenging times and injuries that
have happened to me.
Injuries and challenges always have an impact on a athletes abilities and there physical and mental
wanting to keep on playing. One challenge I had playing some of these sports is the coaches. Some
coaches you have through your high school or athletic career will help you and assist you. One
coach I had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize
everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn't
help us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some
tips for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the
ways she coaches. She didn't respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said
something. She learned that I didn't like how she was coaching and that's how I resolved my
situation with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated
for many reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have
heard throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren't
going to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are
mean. Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the
only way they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and
most coaches I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in
sports or physical activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just
working out that's going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and
getting that result you want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure
you are eating right. Ways that

Child Abduction
Child Abduction
Statistics say that the most recent study published by the Department of Justice, from 2002, reported
that of the 797,500 children reported missing in a one–year period, 203,900 were abducted by
family members and 58,200 were abducted by non–relatives. One–hundred and fifteen were
classified as being taken by a stranger. (http://www.cnn.com/missing–children–fast–facts/) .
In the town of South Lake Tahoe, where it's just like any other town everyone knows everyone and
it's a safe place for children to grow up. Crime ratings were close to zero in this town and the people
of South Lake Tahoe had normal everyday lives just like anybody else. The town's "child–friendly"
environment, the Dugard family called this place home (Hawkins) and a place they thought was
safe. However, on June 10, 1991, a terrible nightmare exploded into reality for their family and
especially for eleven year–old Jaycee Dugard. One day just like any other day where Jaycee got

A. What if it took one little girl's death to save the life's of hundreds of children. Amber Hagerman
murder was part of the system of what we know now as AMBER Alerts.
B. A child being kidnapped is a parent's worst nightmare. This happens to thousands of parents each
year. For this, we have a system called, AMBER (America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency
Response). This system has been around for almost twenty one years, saving hundreds of lives.
C. I will be discussing the story behind AMBER Alerts, how it started, and finally how it has saved
lives and the controversy surrounding it.
I. AMBER Alert is a tribute to a girl named Amber Hagerman from Arlington, Texas.
A. In January of 1996 had to be the worst time for Amber's family.
1. Amber was just nine years old when she was kidnapped, then later killed.
2. Amber along with her little brother, Ricky, went riding around their neighborhood on their bikes.
B. Amber decided to go a little further than she was supposed to because she saw a ramp where
other children would go.
1. Minutes later, she was snatched off her bicycle in a parking lot of a loyal grocery store.
2. Later a nearby neighbor said he heard screaming and saw her be put in a dark blue pickup truck.
C. 5 days later, a man walking his dog found a little girl's body floating in a creek just miles away
from the grocery store, it was Amber Hagerman.
1. She was found naked except for one sock, her throat had been slit.

Now, people are talking about installing facial recognition software in the police officer's body

Red Dog Film Analysis
"The world is a funny place, no? Sometimes you pick your dog. Sometimes your dog picks you."
Good morning ladies and gentlemen for the AFC, and the quote you have just heard is from the
Australian film "Red dog" and is stated to be one of the most powerful quotes in Australian theatre.
Australian film has been around for many years and of those years there have been many examples
of what some might like to call a masterpiece. Some of these films include the Mad Max series,
Gallipoli, Crocodile Dundee but of these films, the film that stands out the most to audiences is the
movie Red dog. Red dog is directed by Australian producer Kriv Stenders and was made in 2011.
The story takes place during the 1970's so one would expect to view various counts of racism and
sexism but there was no evidense of these themes ever showing as the dialogue had been written for
a G rating. It was as if the whole production has had its mouth washed out with soap by there
mother for cursing. The reason this film was successful to most was because of the message it
portrayed as the movie was based around a young Australian Kelpie named Red dog and how he
united a fractured community while searching for his master. The movie is highly regarded today as
of the best Australian films as it brings all Australian values to the table. The main reason for the
audiences love for this film is because of its portrayal of a character's loyalty, mateship and the
Australian Landscape and this is what occurs throughout the film.
Mateship is a big part of Australian culture as us as Australians live and breathe the words of
friendship and that is why this film is so successful, because it brought an un unlikely hero and
made the character bond with an entire town. As Australians, we love a good animal story and due to
the bond between the main character John and his companion Red dog was so strong it was as if the
pair were inseparable. The Australian notion of mateships is portrayed in the film when the character
Joko is talking about the type of man that should have a statue for all to admire as he states "It
should be somebody who lives and breathes desolation, somebody that has red dust stuck up their
nose and in their eyes and in their ears

Persuasive Essay On Respect In Society
"And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for
your country. My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what,
together, we can do for the freedom of man", states the revered and sound late President Kennedy, a
man who truly believed in the cruciality of respect within and for the nation one inhabits. A society
is not only the making up a community, but it is a factor reflecting the ideals of justice, morality, and
the overall character of every individual within the given society. Without respect, without
consideration for the greater good, there is simply no reasonable possibility of a prospering and
flourishing society ever emerging. In this current world one experiences day in and day out, the
slaughtering of the innocent, the unrelenting violence, the angst between races, and the lack of
integrity all influence the declining of our once thriving nation, therefore causing a termination to
the aspects of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Within the last year, if one were to access
any form of news media, more than half of the material displayed would include one of the three
following topics: terrorism, massacre, death. In correlation to the definition of respect, a feeling of
deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements,
those three topics do not seem to elicit one's pride and devotion to bettering

It's highly unlikely, regardless of how good you are as a key account manager, that you will never
face the prospect of an unhappy customer in one of your key accounts. Issues happen. There are
always aspects that are out of your personal control, so being prepared to deal with one of your key
customer's unhappiness ahead of time is well advised. In the heat of the moment is not when you

When working in an environment where the select few make up your largest profit, as in key

Know the difference between hearing and listening. Hearing is simply acknowledging a sound, but
listening is an active choice and requires concentration. If you are already thinking about how you
will respond to their statement, you are not listening. Paraphrase what you heard them say,
especially when it seems like a sticking point. As they are talking, write down what they are saying.
This does a couple of things. It not only shows that you are listening to what they are saying, but it
will also help you later when you are away from the meeting and analyzing what went wrong.
Listening does not only involve words; active listening is paying attention to their non–verbals to
see if you can pick up any additional clues as to the root of the problem. It's important not to

Walmart Vs. Macy : A Different Shopping Experience
Walmart vs Macy: A Different Shopping Experience We all know that both Walmart and Macys are
two of the most popular stores, they both have different concepts of the customer experience have

Walmart has more relaxed and price friendly appeal to those of who are in the middle or even low

there are shoppers that gathers shop for the quality of Macys. Is just a matter of asking shoppers a
question: Why Walmart vs Macys? What is more important quality or quantity for the shopper's
money? Depending at their answer could change the future of each store, and maybe each store
could change their perspective towers their shoppers. The customers at the Walmart store are
average shoppers, they are shoppers that are looking for the right price. The Walmart located in
Ceres is mainly catered to a Hispanic market, so as usual the chatter or comment are often common

Analysis Of Salt To The Sea By Ruta Sepetys
Many historical fiction novels recall well–known tragedies, but there is one novel in particular that
tells the story of a covered catastrophe. Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys focuses on telling the
unknown story of "the greatest maritime disaster in history," the sinking of a German ship, the
Wilhelm Gustoff, during World War II. Throughout telling the story, Sepetys portrays the theme of
perseverance, as the characters face many challenges, but never give up. Despite the growing
popularity of this novel, Sepetys did not gain her reputation from Salt to the Sea. Rather, she became
the author she is today from her previously published novels, Between Shades of Grey and Out of
the Easy. Septeys was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, but she is part Lithuanian. Growing up
in the United States allowed Septeys the ability to attend Hillsdale College, where she received a
bachelor's degree in international finance. Like many others, I learned of Septeys' work through her
other novels. I have read both Between Shades of Grey and Out of the Easy, and thoroughly enjoyed
them. Because I enjoyed her other works in a great deal, Salt to the Sea immediately made my "to–
read" list. For this project, I knew I wanted to read a novel I would enjoy, and Salt to the Sea was
sure to not disappoint. Septeys' third novel begins when an injured Prussian solider, named Florian,
protects a young polish girl, Emilia, from an attacker. The pair travel along the East Prussian road,

Insect Preservation In Amber
Insect preservation in Amber
Tree resin has helped entomologist piece together the history of insects. First occurring during the
Triassic, coniferous trees produced tremendous amounts of resin to protect against attack by pests
and other parasites. The sticky sap like substance would trap organisms that came in contact and
eventually engulf them. Over time, the tree resin fossilized and became amber, preserving the
trapped life form inside. The encasing of the organism allowed for its preservation (Penny et al.
2013). Pieces of amber show a moment frozen in time and let entomologist witness ancient insects
and give a screenshot of their behavior. Therefore, entomology has been able to utilize the amber to

After her eggs had hatched, she continued to carry her young in a brood chamber on the underside
of her belly. The chamber is made by horizontal projection coming off her thoracic legs, and her
young would have stayed there until they could fend for themselves (Boucot & Poinar 2010). Today,
isopods demonstrate the same maternal care, but without the preservation of amber, the similar
behavior would not have been known. Money grasshoppers are another example of a similar
behavior caught in amber. These specimens are among the rarest insects to be found in amber. This
grasshopper is mobile in the treetop region of a forest but tends to rest in small patches of sunlight
down in the shrub. When resting in the bushes, the grasshoppers cross their hind legs. This is a way
for the grasshoppers to avoid predators. The hind legs resemble two crossing stems, allowing the
grasshoppers to blend in amongst the shrubs. Some grasshoppers have been found preserved in this
position (Poinar & Poinar 1999). Grasshoppers have been using their hind legs for camouflage for
millions of years. Which implies, the technique must help them avoid predation. Isopods continue to
take care of their young and have yet to become extinct. These methods have been successful and
will probably still be successful until something drastically and suddenly

The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adichie
A single stories' "power is the ability not to just tell the story of another person, but to make it the
definitive story of that person" found in the speech "The Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda
Adichie. Adichie tells of single stories she has witnessed against others and herself throughout her
life, being from Nigeria, coming to a university in America, and traveling throughout her life. Brent
Staples' personal essay "Just Walk on By" provide examples from his own personal experience, of
single stories that have been raised against him as an African–American male. Both express how
believing in only things heard can demolish truths that have not yet been proven. Single stories may
cause not only empowerment, but also a negative stigma to a person, group, or a place. There are
many possible dangers that come along with a single story pertaining to the start or continuation of a
story heard as well as the act of believing in it. Everyone has been in the same place as Adichie and
Staples; been a victim or believed in the oppressors Stereotypes of people, places, or things leave a
large gap between the truth and what is known as the truth. In the speech "The Danger of a Single

use of her past experiences as evidence to explain the damage these stories can cause, both to the

Who Is Marvin Gaye What's Going On
MARVIN GAYE "WHAT'S GOING ON"
Marvin Gaye's Style of Music:
Marvin Gaye was a musical genius and inspiration to individuals like myself. According to the
website Marvin Gaye (2015), Marvin Gaye was a Motown soul singer–songwriter from the 1960s to
the 1970s, who often addressed themes of controversy. The genre of music Mr. Gaye created was
Protest R&B, for example his song "What's Going On."
Characteristics that sets Marvin Gaye Apart from Popular Recordings:
What set Mr. Gaye apart from other popular recordings of the time was that his controversial style
pays off big with his song "What's Going On." Mr. Gaye was inspired by the politics and violence of
the Vietnam War, which he and Motown did not see eye to eye, however the single was released in
1971 and became a hit (Marvin Gaye, 2015). Proving that Mr. Gaye did not fear to take risks, to
speak out and be heard. Furthermore, Mr. Gaye wrote his lyrics and produced on the album, which
also opens himself up to a new audience ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hearing the genuine power in his voice whether on simple ballets or protest songs was more than
just words, it was a voice to those who could not stand up for themselves or who were scared. A lot
of record companies as mentioned before such as Motown would clash with Mr. Gaye and the
creative direction of a song.

Polly's Abduction Case Study
Within thirty minutes of Polly's abduction, a description of the suspects information was
broadcasted through APB ( all points bulletin). Unfortunately, the broadcast only went out on
channel 1 of Sonoma County Sheriff's so other deputies around the area weren't aware of the
kidnapping that had occurred. When a babysitter returning home noted a suspicious looking vehicle
stuck in a ditch in her employer's private driveway, she quickly phoned the property owner Dana
Jaffe. The property owner left her home and drove to a service station where she phoned the police
and two deputies were dispatched to the call. The two dispatchers ( Rankin and Howard) found
Davis near his Pinto that was stuck in a ditch, drinking beer. Because of the open container

Mind Of My Mind By Octavia Butler
In many instances throughout history groups have made attempts at colonialism. A range of tactics
have been used with different degrees of success or failure and evaluations of these encounters along
with fiction novels showing encounters between groups have attempted to give us insight as to how
to be successful in these encounters. In her novel Mind of My Mind, Octavia Butler tries to convey
that fear tactics are not effective in contact between two groups but that love and respect are more
effective methods. She was successful in conveying this through her portrayal Doro's character and
his use of fear tactics and Mary's characters and her contrasting strategy and how they contributed to
the outcome of the novel. (reference other novels/articles) Mind of My Mind is a novel by Octavia
Butler that introduces the idea of right and wrong when dealing with other people. One of the main
characters in the story, Doro, spends his life trying to breed gifted people to hopefully produce an
"immortal" being like himself. The main character, Mary, turns out to be exactly what Doro was
trying to breed, an extremely powerful being with high potential to be immortal or at least have a
very long life. The story is told mostly from the viewpoint of Mary in her journey through Transition
as she gains her powers. Having Mary as the primary narrator causes the reader to empathize with
her and understand her actions that may seem "Bad" from an outside perspective. However, having

  • 1. Amber Heard Divorce Case Study Amber Heard did not just decide to divorce Johnny Depp without having some proof to back up her accusations. She apparently kept a journal of every incident that happened between Johnny and her. Radar Online, June 1, 2016, reported that Amber has a pile of evidence to support her case that she was living with a man who abused her. A source told Radar Online, "Amber has keep a secret photographic portfolio of all injuries sustained at the hands of Johnny over their relationship. " Apparently, Johnny Depp's character changed when he drank and the more he drank, the meaner he became. The source went on to say that, Johnny "Physically abused her three to four times every year." Johnny Depp and Amber first met on the set of "The Rum Diary" in 2011, but they didn't start dating until March 2013. They kept this off the public radar until July when their relationship was announced during a press tour for The Lone Ranger. The Summer Palace room was perfectly fit for the Amber Room because the Summer Palace Room was smaller in size and would make the Amber Room stand out and look even more amazing. Therefore she gave the order to the architect, Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, and his team to do some additional pieces for the Amber Room. Rainsford has a pistol pointed at his heart and he is telling this huge creation of a man that he is hungry. As much as he has been through in the past twenty–four hours, this did not alarm Rainsford. He presented himself as lost and from New York. Rainsford is certainly a brave character. • 26. Poetry Is Not A Luxury, In 'Fahrenheit 451' Audre Lorde: "For women, then, poetry is not a luxury. It is a vital necessity of our existence." Pieces of a Pie: Reading Between the Lines Forms of literature and storytelling have existed since the beginning of time, allowing people to gain knowledge, share ideas, and further advance society. Reading stimulates the intellectual thought that is necessary for both individual and societal growth, leaving one to question the implications that would occur if literature could not exist. The book Fahrenheit 451 explores a society where literature is banned, thus causing priorities to revolve around materialism and meaningless, superficial interaction. This book is a warning: it shows the reader how empty our lives could be without literature (Bradbury). All forms of literature have the power to advance an individual's mind, as well as that of the entire society. The exploration of how progress is made is compelling; it can be analyzed through a variety of lenses. Progress begins with an idea, and ideas are often expressed in writing. How can literature, specifically poetry, play a role in progression? "Poetry is Not a Luxury," written by Audre Lorde in 1985, explores the ways in which poetry inspires freedom and change amongst women and people of color who do not have a voice. Lorde describes herself as a "black, lesbian, mother, warrior, poet" (Poetry Foundation), an experienced outsider to society, therefore the goal of her writing is to empower those who feel powerless. Techniques Used by Kidnappers to Control Their Victims Essay Many kidnappings that have happened around the United States mainly connect with children wanting to leave with a stranger even though they know that it is wrong. How is it that adults are capable of luring children into coming with them even though they are complete strangers? Furthermore, do not parents teach their kids not to go with strangers and if it does happen that they should scream for help? Sure, yet children still willingly go with strangers. Perhaps something about them kidnapers convinces children that it is okay. Statistics show that ninety–eight percent of abducted children do not survive beyond the first 30 days (Smart 4). Elizabeth's a strong believer of the Mormon faith therefore she will cope with the understanding that Mitchell was just trying to test her faith in the Lord. • 38. Why Is Curriculum Important Exam #1 1. What is curriculum and why is it important? Curriculum is a difficult topic to define. There are many variations of curriculum types and ways in which it can be defined. Curriculum can be defined as a sequence of steps laid out in order to create a plan for achieving goals, particularly in education. Saylor, Alexander, and Lewis define curriculum as a plan for providing sets of learning opportunities for how individuals can become educated (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 8). Wiles and Bondi view curriculum as a development process where the philosophy becomes identified, the students ability is assessed, methods for possible instruction are considered, strategies are implemented, assessment devices are chosen, and this process is one that is continually adjusted (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 8). Curriculum can also be defined as dealing with learner's experiences meaning that anything planned in or out of school is part of the curriculum. This is the definition that humanistic curricularists follow (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 9). Individuals who discuss curriculum in theoretical terms as opposed to practical terms tend define curriculum as a field of study. However, most U.S. school districts tend to define curriculum in terms of subject matter. Subject matter and content can be discussed in terms of the subject itself as well as the content regarding grade levels. Curriculum is important to the health and development of schools and society (Ornstein & Hunkins P. 1). Curriculum is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the United States Department of Justice, up to 4,600 children are abducted by strangers every year, (about 12 children everyday), (State of Indiana Amber Alert Plan). The Indiana Amber Alert Plan was not instituted until October 1, 2002 (State of Indiana Amber Alert Plan, 2010). This statewide program was put in effect to locate abducted and endangered children within the first twenty–four hours following the crime. Each city and state Amber Alert program is administered differently, but all have to be in compliance with the national Emergency Alert System, sometimes called the Emergency Broadcast System; whose procedures are approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Child Abduction: Missing Without a Trace Child Abduction: Missing without a Trace Today, we are all here gathered for Eli Davis, a charming, charismatic little boy with a smile that would brighten anyone's day. His laugh was loud, but loved many, his eyes were big and bright, but we cannot say the same about his future because he never got the chance. No one saw it coming, but it came, and if we could turn back the hands of time to work in Elis favor it would be handled with the snap of a finger. If only we were more caring, careful, cautious then maybe we could have saved a young life. Little Eli was abducted from his own home by a sick, twisted psychopath in the middle of the night and found in 3 different locations because his body parts were separated. Today we are gathered here to burry what is left of Eli Davis. Eli is not the only innocent child who has fell victim to one of these horrible abductions, there are a countless number of children who have suffered the same fate. With this being said, America should take action to expunge these horrid child abductions because they are killing our innocent children, traumatizing our loved ones, and killing our population/future. Child abduction is the unauthorized removal of a minor from the custody of the child's natural parents or legally appointed guardians. According to the US National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, in the USA an estimated 800,000 children are reported missing every year. In 1996, a 9 year old girl, Amber Hagerman was riding her bike around the neighborhood when a neighbor heard her scream. The neighbor witnessed the little girl being pulled off her bike, by a man, and thrown into a pickup truck. The neighbor called the police, and Amber's brother went home and notified their parents. After contacting a man who had a similar event happen to his daughter, the family began contacting the media and the FBI. Amber Hagerman's case is unsolved, to date. In February 2011 the police was lead into a child pornography and trafficking network resulting in the police questioning a man, Bill Fry. In 1996 Fry, who has been living in Arizona, had an apartment in Texas not far from the location Amber was abducted. By August the police raided Fry's home. While the police found child pornography, Fry was dismissed by the police from being a suspect in the Hagerman's case (The Tarrant County Observer, 2011). Because there has been no arrest, no trial, and the case is still open and being investigated, the case information is unattainable. While the court may not have made a decision which began the legislative process changing a law, the Amber Hagerman case is still a landmark case because it is responsible for The Amber Alert system. Because the idea to quickly find Amber via the media and broadcast agencies was successful, the idea of using the media to locate a child became more routine. It is designed to locate and retrieve a child who has been kidnapped and or missing and in possible danger. The word Amber became an acronym for America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response. After Texas began using the Amber Alert system more routinely, more states began adopting the Amber Alert as well. 3 years later, the White House held a conference to discuss Missing and Exploited and runaway children, with the result of the President appointing the first ever ... Amober Alert Research Paper America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response or Amber Alert Plan, as many know it, is a way of alerting the citizens of Texas, and the United States as a whole of when a child has been abducted. The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 in the Dallas Fort Worth area when a broadcasting team collaborated with the local police to make an early warning system to warn people to be on the lookout for abducted children. This idea was conceived as a legacy to Amber Hagerman, a nine year old who was kidnaped in Arlington while riding her bike. The AMBER alert system is very well run and has saved a lot of children from possibly life altering situations. The only change that I would make is one of informational prevention. What I mean by that is we must inform the public, not only when an AMBER alert is emitted but before so we can prevent a possible situation. I believe this starts within the home, as parents they must monitor their children's time online to ensure they are not talking to people who they are not supposed to be talking to. While the Internet is a great tool it is also a great medium for possible predators to begin to stalk your children. Parents must be aware of who their children are speaking to online to prevent the possibility of an abduction in the future. Other precautions are very simple as well, such as being aware of where they are and setting boundaries and rules of where they could be at certain times. Another precaution could be as simple as ensuring the child has an up to date Identification card. In the home, parents should also warn the children of possible dangers from strangers and possible situations that if they are found in a difficult situation how they should react. Parents must also be informed of the truth about abductions. According to kidshealth.org most children who are reported missing have run away or are just lost. Those who are truly abducted, most are taken by a family member or someone well trusted; the other 25% are taken by strangers. Born in the nations capital on April 2, 1939, Gaye's ageless sounds and intriguing vocals still influence the world today. Gaye's father, a minister in the Apostolic Church, played a foremost role in Marvin's musical education. In fact, most of Marvin's inspiration for religious topics came from the church music he grew up singing. It also pleads to let the people have their outlooks and views with out concern of being quieted or attacked. In the song "Mercy, Mercy Me", imagery and symbolism exist as two key archetypes that draw out the elements of pathos in Gaye's lyrics. The 1960's environmentalist, also known as Hippies, opened America's eyes and revealed the gruesome lack of respect they exhibited towards the Earth. Ignorant Americans used the planet as a dumping ground, unaware of the catastrophic outcomes. Gaye wrote "Mercy, Mercy Me" from an environmentalists perspective and depicts a devastating portrayal of mans unconstructive impact on the Earth using imagery. The imagery used in "Mercy, Mercy Me" makes the mind ponder on how Gaye attempts to convince listeners to take a more philosophical approach to life that emphasizes respect for others and the earth. He illustrates the contamination of oceans and murder of marine life that remains a result of man's carelessness. A decade before, these issues were not relevant to the Earth "Oh things ain't what they used to be", as Gaye points out in "Mercy, Mercy Me". For example, in the 1960's countries began to industrialize rapidly, which only meant additional factories and buildings resulting in excessive pollution in the atmosphere. The shirt brings a lot of memories back for me. In my opinion, I think it portrays my personality, the quiet and crazy side, as well as how passionate I am. It is a reminder that I can do anything I set my mind to. It's a reminder of my faith even in the dark moments and when I feel like I'm failing. It portrays my desire to be a part of something big, and my desire to learn. I think it portrays my quiet personality because on my team, we did what were called human videos. Human videos are basically telling stories to a song. The actors do not talk, they mouth the lyrics and use actions and facials to tell a story. Around people I don't know, I don't say too much. I would hope that my life tells others a story of hope. I would hope that my actions would point others to someone who could give them that. I'm not doing so well in it myself, but I know I can do better. I also believe this shirt portrays my crazy side through the font on the front. It's something not common, it stands out. My team came up with the name. I honestly don't remember who thought of Jive 2 Thrive and I'm kind of surprised the guys in the group didn't say anything. • 74. Summary Of The Poem Before I Got My Eye Put Out In both of Emily Dickinson's poem she refers to her sight. In the poem, "Before I Got My Eye Put Out," it's about her lost of sight, but throughout the poem she has many metaphors about her lost of sight. Like in the first stanza she's talking about how she liked and enjoyed her sight when it was good but didn't appreciate it as much when she had it. Then in her other poem, "We Grow Accustomed to the Dark," it's saying how her sight is bad but she's getting used to the dark and can get around much easier towards the end of the poem. In stanza four she is saying how the brave stumbles in the dark but learns to walk properly. Finally the attitude of the poem, "Before I got my eye put out," is kind of regretful because she wasn't grateful for her sight when she had it but now regrets that. In the poem, "We grow accustomed to the dark," the speaker shows perseverance when she talks about trying and trying to get used to the dark and adjust to it. In this poem, "Before I got my eye put out," the speaker is talking about how she misses her sight in the first stanza saying, "Before I got my eye put out – I liked as well to see..." this shows that she liked her vision. Then says, "...And know no other way," I think this means that she knows no other way to see like she used to before. This means that she regrets not appreciating her eyes as much and realizes that when she loses her sight. Then in stanza four she says, "The motions of the dipping birds – the morning's Amber road – for mine – to look at when I liked..." In this part the speaker is saying how she used to see the dipping birds and amber roads but now that her sights isn't as good she misses all of that. After all of the images she misses seeing she says, "The news would strike me dead," she was shocked and very sad about the news. Then in the poem, "We grow accustomed to the dark," the speaker talks about how she's slowly getting used to the dark. At first she's talking how she need the neighbors lamp light to help her find her way. Then explains how the first steps she was uncertain of and her vision will adjust to the dark and help her walk straighter. Then in stanza four she says, "The bravest – grope a little – and sometimes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

New York; Oxford: Oxford University Press; 2016. Abina Mansah: An Overlooked History Abina Mansah, like many other women in her time, was a young Akan woman who was wrongfully enslaved by her captors. Although slavery was made illegal in 1875, many "important men" continued to seize youthful slaves – female ones in particular, because they were less likely to run away and seek liberation. Despite this, Abina refused to be a slave under the authority of her master, Quamina Eddoo. With the help of court interpreter James Davis, she attempted to force the court system to hear her voice. Young enslaved women like Abina are often talked about in history, but never the ones to write historical documents themselves. Their voices are hidden beneath the voices of important men, and this left women like Abina frustrated and angry. As a student of the history of gender, Abina's story and her initiative to challenge the authority others had over her shows us the importance of being heard, and how young women's expressions are often disregarded and deemed less significant than those of important men. The first element of Abina's story that depicts Abina's desire to be heard and how her voice was buried under an Important Man's was the case in court. REVIEW OF LITERATURE HISTORY OF THE AMBER ALERT January 13, 1996, AMBER Hagerman was riding her bike in Arlington, TX with her little brother. She rode a short distance farther than she was supposed to and her brother turned around and went back home. In that short span of time, a driver of a black truck pulled up, picked up AMBER and drove away. Luckily a neighbor watched the incident and called the police immediately with a description of the truck. Unfortunately, her body was found 4 days later with her throat cut. She had been alive for 2 days before her death. Her death sparked an outcry from parents across the nation. Radio stations in the Dallas area were the first to answer that outcry. They teamed up with local law enforcement to help launch the first AMBER alert system. It was named in honor of AMBER Hagerman. The official name for an AMBER alert now is also America's Missing Broadcast Emergency Response System. It wasn't until 2009 that every state, District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands had an AMBER alert plan in place. She was the one who caused this in the first place. He tried to form any other thoughts but the one idea that circled his head was of his utter demise. He squared his shoulders, awkwardly pushing out his lanky chest. The sound of wooden wheels clattering against the ground made him turn in anger. He brought his foot harshly and kicked her. She screamed, tumbling to the dirt. He smirked, some of his annoyance sent elsewhere. I know I will never admit when anything is wrong, and I will try to fix a problem before it starts. Reading through "A Streetcar Named Desire" made me understand how similar I am to Blanche DeBois. If it was not for how the play was written, I am sure I would not have these feelings towards Blanche. Tennessee Williams, the writer of the play, uses music, objects, and sound or dialogue to further explain drama in "Streetcar Named Desire". One coach I had for track was the total opposite of that, instead of helping us, all she would do is criticize everything that a person would do wrong and ignore the team if they had questions. She wouldn't help us resolve our problem and I found that as a challenge for me because if I needed help on some tips for running, she would not help. How I responded to this situation is by talking to her about the ways she coaches. She didn't respond very well to what I had to say but at least I stood up and said something. She learned that I didn't like how she was coaching and that's how I resolved my situation with her. Many individuals tend to become uninterested, uncommitted, and unmotivated for many reasons. The reasons they have could be resolved very easily. Some of the reasons I have heard throughout the years is that the training is too hard. Training is supposed to be hard, you aren't going to be the best unless you train hard. Another complaint I have heard is that the coaches are mean. Some coaches are mean and some coaches are mean for a reason. Some coaches that is the only way they know. Pushing athletes to the wall has been a coaching thought for many years and most coaches I had, went by that mindset. The last reason I think people become uninterested in sports or physical activity is that there not getting any results. The fact of the matter is; it is not just working out that's going to get you the results. There are many factors that go into progressing and getting that result you want. Your diet has a lot to do with getting that result so you got to make sure you are eating right. Ways that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

"It is a silver Toyota Corolla, my son is 8 and I don't know which way the car went." "Ma'am, I know you're scared; I have officers on the way to you. What is your son's name?" "BROCK GUZMAN!" "How long were you in the house? I just need a time frame" "Maybe 2 minutes..." This situation is every parent's very worst night. It is mentioned that 1 in 2 Americans are already in the database. The question arises if this is legal or not, by going around scanning everybody with no probable cause to do so. However, not many would argue the use of facial recognition if it was used to find a missing person, especially an innocent child (Laperruque, 2016). • 119. Red Dog Film Analysis "The world is a funny place, no? Sometimes you pick your dog. Sometimes your dog picks you." Good morning ladies and gentlemen for the AFC, and the quote you have just heard is from the Australian film "Red dog" and is stated to be one of the most powerful quotes in Australian theatre. Australian film has been around for many years and of those years there have been many examples of what some might like to call a masterpiece. Some of these films include the Mad Max series, Gallipoli, Crocodile Dundee but of these films, the film that stands out the most to audiences is the movie Red dog. Red dog is directed by Australian producer Kriv Stenders and was made in 2011. The story takes place during the 1970's so one would expect to view various counts of racism and sexism but there was no evidense of these themes ever showing as the dialogue had been written for a G rating. It was as if the whole production has had its mouth washed out with soap by there mother for cursing. The reason this film was successful to most was because of the message it portrayed as the movie was based around a young Australian Kelpie named Red dog and how he united a fractured community while searching for his master. The movie is highly regarded today as of the best Australian films as it brings all Australian values to the table. The main reason for the audiences love for this film is because of its portrayal of a character's loyalty, mateship and the Australian Landscape and this is what occurs throughout the film. Mateship is a big part of Australian culture as us as Australians live and breathe the words of friendship and that is why this film is so successful, because it brought an un unlikely hero and made the character bond with an entire town. As Australians, we love a good animal story and due to the bond between the main character John and his companion Red dog was so strong it was as if the pair were inseparable. The Australian notion of mateships is portrayed in the film when the character Joko is talking about the type of man that should have a statue for all to admire as he states "It should be somebody who lives and breathes desolation, somebody that has red dust stuck up their nose and in their eyes and in their ears ... My fellow citizens of the world: ask not what America will do for you, but what, together, we can do for the freedom of man", states the revered and sound late President Kennedy, a man who truly believed in the cruciality of respect within and for the nation one inhabits. A society is not only the making up a community, but it is a factor reflecting the ideals of justice, morality, and the overall character of every individual within the given society. Without respect, without consideration for the greater good, there is simply no reasonable possibility of a prospering and flourishing society ever emerging. In this current world one experiences day in and day out, the slaughtering of the innocent, the unrelenting violence, the angst between races, and the lack of integrity all influence the declining of our once thriving nation, therefore causing a termination to the aspects of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Within the last year, if one were to access any form of news media, more than half of the material displayed would include one of the three following topics: terrorism, massacre, death. • 135. Analysis Of Salt To The Sea By Ruta Sepetys Many historical fiction novels recall well–known tragedies, but there is one novel in particular that tells the story of a covered catastrophe. Salt to the Sea, by Ruta Sepetys focuses on telling the unknown story of "the greatest maritime disaster in history," the sinking of a German ship, the Wilhelm Gustoff, during World War II. Throughout telling the story, Sepetys portrays the theme of perseverance, as the characters face many challenges, but never give up. Despite the growing popularity of this novel, Sepetys did not gain her reputation from Salt to the Sea. Rather, she became the author she is today from her previously published novels, Between Shades of Grey and Out of the Easy. Septeys was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, but she is part Lithuanian. Growing up in the United States allowed Septeys the ability to attend Hillsdale College, where she received a bachelor's degree in international finance. Like many others, I learned of Septeys' work through her other novels. I have read both Between Shades of Grey and Out of the Easy, and thoroughly enjoyed them. Because I enjoyed her other works in a great deal, Salt to the Sea immediately made my "to– read" list. For this project, I knew I wanted to read a novel I would enjoy, and Salt to the Sea was sure to not disappoint. Septeys' third novel begins when an injured Prussian solider, named Florian, protects a young polish girl, Emilia, from an attacker. The pair travel along the East Prussian road, eventually ... First occurring during the Triassic, coniferous trees produced tremendous amounts of resin to protect against attack by pests and other parasites. The sticky sap like substance would trap organisms that came in contact and eventually engulf them. Over time, the tree resin fossilized and became amber, preserving the trapped life form inside. The encasing of the organism allowed for its preservation (Penny et al. 2013). Pieces of amber show a moment frozen in time and let entomologist witness ancient insects and give a screenshot of their behavior. After her eggs had hatched, she continued to carry her young in a brood chamber on the underside of her belly. The chamber is made by horizontal projection coming off her thoracic legs, and her young would have stayed there until they could fend for themselves (Boucot & Poinar 2010). Today, isopods demonstrate the same maternal care, but without the preservation of amber, the similar behavior would not have been known. Money grasshoppers are another example of a similar behavior caught in amber. These specimens are among the rarest insects to be found in amber. This grasshopper is mobile in the treetop region of a forest but tends to rest in small patches of sunlight down in the shrub. When resting in the bushes, the grasshoppers cross their hind legs. This is a way for the grasshoppers to avoid predators. The hind legs resemble two crossing stems, allowing the grasshoppers to blend in amongst the shrubs. Some grasshoppers have been found preserved in this position (Poinar & Poinar 1999). Grasshoppers have been using their hind legs for camouflage for millions of years. Which implies, the technique must help them avoid predation. Isopods continue to take care of their young and have yet to become extinct. The Danger Of A Single Story By Chimamanda Adichie A single stories' "power is the ability not to just tell the story of another person, but to make it the definitive story of that person" found in the speech "The Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda Adichie. Adichie tells of single stories she has witnessed against others and herself throughout her life, being from Nigeria, coming to a university in America, and traveling throughout her life. Brent Staples' personal essay "Just Walk on By" provide examples from his own personal experience, of single stories that have been raised against him as an African–American male. Both express how believing in only things heard can demolish truths that have not yet been proven. Single stories may cause not only empowerment, but also a negative stigma to a person, group, or a place. There are many possible dangers that come along with a single story pertaining to the start or continuation of a story heard as well as the act of believing in it. Everyone has been in the same place as Adichie and Staples; been a victim or believed in the oppressors Stereotypes of people, places, or things leave a large gap between the truth and what is known as the truth. In the speech "The Danger of a Single Story" by Chimamanda Adichie, Adichie explains the dangers and importance of single stories. A range of tactics have been used with different degrees of success or failure and evaluations of these encounters along with fiction novels showing encounters between groups have attempted to give us insight as to how to be successful in these encounters. In her novel Mind of My Mind, Octavia Butler tries to convey that fear tactics are not effective in contact between two groups but that love and respect are more effective methods. She was successful in conveying this through her portrayal Doro's character and his use of fear tactics and Mary's characters and her contrasting strategy and how they contributed to the outcome of the novel.
