1. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
2. It could be argued my teaser trailer conforms to the stereotypical
conventions and forms of existing romantic films. Yet, in saying this
my film is not fixed on heterosexual but on two female lovers. This
could be seen as conventions been broken.
3. LIGHTING:
Due to my production being based on love, the use of my lighting was
based on a romantic atmosphere. I shot my production in a park in
broad day light. The use of bright light(s) embeds the fantasy of
what love is to be. It also highlights the courtship that is being
made.
4. Dear John
The two images show how lighting is used to reinforce a particular
feeling. Through the film the lighting of the movie has mainly been
based around a summery feel, which conforms to the conventions
and forms of a romance genre themed movie.
6. EDITING:
The editing style for most romance based movies are similar. It’s a slow
paced editing with a few fast paced editing when showing (usually) the
lovers bonding. In addition, pitiful and nostalgia music is usually played
in the background when a tragic situation has occurred. I have
followed this same convention. I have a slow song playing in the
background to show the audience that this is a film that is due to take
them on a ride of many emotions.
7. CAMERA SHOTS:
When shooting my production I mainly used close ups - to show
emotion, wide shots - to ensure every aspect of what needs to be in
the scene. I also used shot reverse shot, as it creates emphasises on
the characters, in addition to this it also gives the audience a closer
connection with the actors and their feelings.
8. SOUND:
I can say I have followed convention in terms of sound. I’ve used a
lamentable and moving musical piece as it accentuates on the idea of
love and pain.
