1. WELCOME TO PSY201
Hello everyone, my name is Robyn Brunton and I am your subject
co-ordinator for this subject. I am looking forward to this session and I
hope you are too. I realise that the thought of learning statistics can be
a little daunting for some but please approach this subject with an
open mind – you may just surprise yourself!
This session we are all embarking on using Interact2 and I hope you will enjoy using
this new learning platform as much as I have. The following few pages will give you a
quick overview on how this site is setup.
2. The main areas you need to access for this subject are the Subject Outline, Content, Resources and
Discussions
Subject Outline – please this document as it contains important information on the roll out of the
subject.
Content contains all your learning material for each week. Each week a new topic will appear and
within each of these folders is your Weekly Learning Summary – this lists all your readings and
activities for the week. It also contains your tutorials. These are practical exercises mainly using SPSS.
These are invaluable as they give you hands on use of SPSS and also reinforce the concepts that you
learn each week. There are also other activities/ resources each week. These include links to You Tube
videos or other resources as detailed in the summary.
Resources contains additional information for this subject. This includes details on APA referencing,
access to Thin Client and other relevant information.
Discussions – this area contains your subject forums. There is the main subject forum and as the
session progresses other forums will appear such as an Assessment 2 forum where any questions or
information relative to that assignment should be placed. I would encourage everyone to not only
regularly check the forums but also participate regularly too.
3. One final word, SPSS is an integral part of this subject so its important to ensure you can readily
access it. For those who have chosen to connect using Thin Client I would encourage you to set this
up asap. In the past some students have left this till the last minute and it has caused them
unnecessary and avoidable stress when they have had some difficulties connecting. Please be
assured that these can always be sorted out relatively quickly but I would nonetheless encourage
everyone to set up your access now. Details on accessing Thin Client are located in the resources
section.
All the best everyone, I look forward to hearing from you via the forums.
