When asked which industries offer a young person the best opportunities for a satisfying career,
only Health Services exceed Computer Software, Computer Hardware, and the Internet
The American public, perhaps focused on the unprecedented economic events of the last year, do not
consider the ICT sector to be as critical as some other industries to the economy and to reducing
unemployment.
There are clear opportunities to raise the profile of the ICT sector as socially responsible, green
friendly and as global leaders and to raise the profile of the Internet as trustworthy.
Among a group of issues and challenges that have ICT sector focus, respondents indicate that the
environment, cybersecurity, and health IT are most personally important and that the environment
and health IT are the most important to find answers to.
Health IT and Cybersecurity are inextricably bound together in the minds of these respondents as
privacy concerns are the largest hesitation in embracing health IT.
STEM education initiatives are embraced among respondents.
