5. What is Blood.?
Blood is a body fluid in humans and other
animals that delivers necessary substances such
as nutrients & oxygen to the cells and also
transports metabolic wastes products away
from the same cell.
Blood is composed of cells, cell fragments and
an aqueous solution called plasma.
It makes up about 8% of the human body
weight.

A malignant progressive disease in which the
bone marrow and other blood-forming
organs produce increased numbers of
immature or abnormal leucocytes. These
suppress the production of normal blood
cells, leading to Anaemia and other
symptoms.

• CML is characterized by an uncontrolled clonal
proliferation of Myeloid cells.
• It accounts for 15% of Leukemia.
• It is a myeloproliferative disorder having
features in common with these diseases e.g
Splenomegaly.
• It occurs most often between 40-60yrs, with a
slight male predominance, and is rare in
childhood.
