1. Introductions
Since we have just learned the …ל pronouns in the
last lesson, let’s spend a bit of time on how to introduce
yourself in Hebrew.
2. Introductions
In Hebrew the easiest way to introduce yourself is to
simply say “Hello, I am ….”. Remember that in Hebrew
there is no verb “to be”, so this sentence in Hebrew is
simply “… “אני where you would say your name after
ani. For example:
.דויד אני ,שלום (Hello. I am David.)
. שלום,אנירות (Hello, I am Ruth.)
You can end the introduction with נעיםמאוד na’im
me’od, which is a popular expression meaning “it’s nice
to meet you”.
3. Introductions
Another expression to use is to say “My name is
…” or “I am called …” is korim li לי .קוראים This is
more informal.
Both this expression and the expression on the
previous slide can be used to introduce others too.
Notice that קוראיםלי uses the …ל pronoun for 1st
person singular. You can replace the לי pronoun
with any of the …ל pronoun forms.
4. Introductions
Examples:
. לה קוראיםשרה ,שלום (shalom, qorim la sarah)
.שרה היא ,שלום (shalom, hee sarah)
Both of these expressions would be used to
introduce your friend Sarah to someone.
