2. WHAT IS TUBERCULOSIS
 TB is a bacterial infection that mainly affects the
lungs and can also any affect any part of the
body.
 The bacteria usually attack the lungs ,but TB
bacteria bacteria can attack any part of the body
such as the kidney,spine,and brain .not everyone
infected with TB bacteria becomes sick .

4. WHAT CAUSES TUBERCULOSIS ?
 TB is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium
tuberculosis. The germs are spread through the
air and usually infect the lungs ,but can also
infect other parts of the body .TB is infection ,it
does not spread easily . You usually have to spend
a lot of time in contact with someone who is
contagious in order to catch it .

5. WHAT ARE THE SINGH
AND SYMPTOMS OF
TUBERCULOSIS?
People with inactive TB do not
exhibit symptoms . However
,they may have a positive skin
reaction test or blood test .
• Those with active TB can show
any the following symptoms:
• Bad cough
• Pain in your chest
• Weight loss
• Chills.
• Fever.
• Night sweats.

6. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO PREVENT
SPREADING TUBERCULOSIS
You usually have to be in contact with someone with active TB for a long
time before becoming infected.
It helps to follow infection prevention guidelines like:
 Washing your hands thoroughly and often .
 Making sure you take all of your medication correctly .
 Avoiding close contact with other people.
In the hospital ,the most important measure to stop the spread of TB are having
proper ventilation and using the correct types of personals protective equiqment.

7. HOW SOON AFTER STARTING TREATMENT
FOR ACTIVE TB WILL I FEEL BETER?
 It will probably take weeks before you start having more energy and fewer
days with symptoms. However, it will take longer than that to complete your
treatment. You will need to take your medication for at least six to nine
months.

9. COMPLICATION /SIDE EFFECTS OF
TREATMENT
Some people have side effect from the drugs used to treat TB that may include:
 Skin rashes and other reaction.
 Itchy skin.
 Dark urine.
 Yellow skin or eyes.
