2. •A business major in Loyola University Chicago’s pre-med program, Raihan Sayeed has
always had a passion for leadership.
In addition to his work as vice president of his high school’s Future Business Leaders of
America program, Ray Sayeed also served as a senator for his university’s Unified
Student Government Association.

3. •During his time in leadership positions, Raihan Sayeed has learned that there are a
few tips for successful leaders to know:
Set an example. Whether leading a school group or a large organization, a leader
should work to raise the bar for the rest of the team.
Not only will this encourage everyone to focus on the goal, but also the other workers
are more likely to engage when the leader demonstrates that everyone should
contribute.

4. •Communication is key. Clear communication can help ensure everyone stays on task
and understands what is expected of him or her.
Communication goes both ways, however, and an effective leader should always be
sure to listen to questions, comments, and concerns.
Listening shows teammates and employees that they are valuable, and it may lead to
innovative ideas that would not have otherwise been presented.
