33. 2. SPRING SHOP
IN SPRING SHOP SPRINGS ARE MANUFACTURE ON SPRING COILLING MACHINE
a machine used to produce springs, spring washers, and collar springs from wire and r
ods. There are both automatic andsemiautomatic machines. Helical, cylindrical, conic
al, and contoured springs are made by either hot or cold coiling on spring-
coiling machines.
The major units of a spring-
coiling machine include the drive, which is usually electric, the straightening and coilin
g units, andthe pitch and cutting mechanisms. Cold coiling on automatic spring-
coiling machines is most commonly found.Thesemachines are characterized by disco
ntinuous wire feed from two or three pairs of rollers driven by a gear sector or engage
dby a friction clutch. The springs are cut off when the rollers stop. There are also sprin
g-
coiling machines with continuous wirefeed in which the springs are cut without stoppi
ng the rollers, which results in an increased output.

Tinning:- is the process of thinly coating sheets of wrought iron or steel with tin, and
the resulting product is known as tinplate. It is most often used to prevent rust, but is also
commonly applied to the ends of stranded wire used as electrical conductors to
prevent oxidation (which increases electrical resistance),

POWDER COATING:-The coating is typically applied electrostatically and
is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin". ...Powder
coating is mainly used for coating of metals.
