24. 8.2 How To Track The satellite
DD Free Dish signalscan be downloadedfrom GSAT- 15 at 93.5°E Satellite
Finding a Clear Line of Sight
Get yourself agood compass,the bestyoucan afford.Checkthe "Azimuth"and"Elevation"foryour
location
Locate at leastone site onyour propertythathas a clear view tothe satellite.
Do youhave at leastone clearviewtothe satellite?Remember, notrees, leaves, orbuildingscanbe
betweenthe dishandthe satellite.
If the answerisNO,your site maynot be suitable for installingthe satellite system.
25. LNBF Polarization Tilt (skew)
Your LNB ismarkedwitha label indicatingthe polarizationtilt.Yourlocal LNBpolarityoffset
informationvariesbylocation. If youare in Houston,TXyour LNB polarizationistobe setat 0 degrees.
But if youare on the CaliforniacoastyourLNB polarizationcouldbe asmuchas minus30 degrees
(clockwise rotation).Andif youare inMaine your LNB polarizationcouldbe asmuchas plus30 degree
26. (counter-clockwise rotation.Peakingthe dishandadjustingthe polarityof the LNBwill greatlyimprove
your Signal Qualityreading.
WhenadjustingyourLNBF,be sure you don'tleave thatLNBF holdingbracketloose.The LNBFwon't
pickup the satellite if the bracketisloose, andit'sslightlyoff. Finally, whenthinkingaboutdegrees,
rememberthat30 degreesisabout5 minutesona clock.Don't turn the LNB too much!
Angle Finder
Use Dish pointer (Satellite Finder / Dish Alignment Calculator) tofind the Lat/Long,
Azimuth/Elev for required satellite and location where exactly you are.
27. Set the Desired angle using compass.
For DD_Free Dishsetit 93.5 deg east
28. Set the elevation which is given in dish antenna as shown in fig
below.
Set the elevation according to your location
29. 1
After getting all the details of desired satellite Select a location with a direct line of
sight in the direction of the satellite.Generallyhighlocationssuchasa rooftopor balcony
are used.Usingan analogcompasswill make locatingthe angle easier.
30. 2
Secure the dish in the selected position. The dishmustbe fixedtightlyatthe mountingpointasit
