System and method for intelligent decoding of pixels and macroblocks
1. SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR INTELLIGENT DECODING OF PIXELS
AND MACROBLOCKS
Solution: An… redacted…that monitors for receiver manufacturers (OEMs) a
set of specific video formats listed in any…redacted… The…redacted…will
verify that OEMs devices make acceptable video with any video format.
The…redacted emanating from the results of a…redacted…can allow a
broadcaster to emit other video formats (within any bounds) without being
out of compliance with any optional or required standard. OEMs can agree
they would be expected to make some kind of display with whatever video
format delivered, but the quality might perhaps be suboptimal or something
might get cropped. To achieve interoperability on any device, the video
formats must be properly specified.
It is also desirable to have a decoder process anything with a lower rate of
pixels or macroblocks per second. The point of this is to have the capability of
signaling the capabilities required for proper reception/decode/presentation
of a service (or event), in a way that is extensible forward in time -- in a way
that capable receivers know what to do, and incapable receivers know to skip.
Problem: As not all consumer devices are capable of decoding all possible
video formats (i.e., mobile devices likely cannot decode ultra high definition
(UHD)), it is desirable to interchange video formats dependent of what an OEM
device receives.
