Lesson Plan – “Lenda dos Corvos” – José Soares - Portugal
Activity Description
With this lesson plan we intend to increase the fluency in the mother tongue and in a foreign
language with the oral and written exploration of the text "Legend of the Crows", using
innovative methods of oral narration. The combination of the Talking for Writing
methodology, the use of ICT, the use of Drama and the application of Reading Class guidelines
will contribute to a better understanding of the text, promote new word learning, improve
reading speed and increase reading comprehension and the motivation of the students.
Teaching Objectives:
Teaching Objectives:
- Read a text with correct articulation and intonation and an appropriate speed;
- Identify the theme or subject of the text;
- Register ideas related to the theme, organizing them;
- Identify the following types of sentences: declarative, interrogative and exclamative,
- Use ICT/Robotic in exploring a text / story;
- Develop creativity and develop collaborative work skills;
- Increase students' liking for reading and writing.
Learning Activities
Text Exploration "Legend of my city" following the guidelines of the Reading Class method:
Text exploration in perspective of a fortune teller, detective, reporter, cowboy and artist.
Reading group text combining Pie Corbett's Talking for Writing methodology and building a
Storymap. Construction of a digital book using the Storyjumper tool. Construction of a new
Storymap by changing one or several moments of history by creating a new version of the
story. Dramatization and narration of history through the use of images and video records.
Translation of the story into the English language and its narration. Use ICT to retell the story.
Analysis and evaluation
Assessment of student performance during the various phases of exploration of the Lesson
Plan by recording progress on an observation grid. Analysis of student student responses to
an online questionnaire about text and grammar. Evaluation of the work done by the
students (Digital Stories, Drama, ...)
