Most of the products
that exist today
existed in one form or
the other
The process of making
changes in something
established, especially
by introducing new
methods or ideas is
called innovation
Take a Car as
an example
A car is a product of continuous
innovation. It is a product that has
seen many changes that solves pain
points of the previous versions
How do you build
products that
continuously gets
better through
continuous Innovation
Coming up with
hypothesis of products
you think solves a
problem for the user
and the user is willing
to pay for it
Looking at existing products
and finding possible ways of
solving the pain-points
experienced by the users
Talking to potential users or
current users of similar
products to see how they
use similar products and the
pain points that they have
using the product
You should also try to find out
how much the potential users
will be willing to pay for the
new product which fixes the
pain point they have identified
with the old product.
Asking for price will allow you
to know how painful the pain
point you are solving is and
how much the product will be
worth once developed.
Come up with metrics you will
track to validate that the pain
points you have solved are
really solved. Your metrics
should be used to validate
your hypothesis
Build the product
Measuring the success of your
products by tracking your
metrics and seeing how your
users respond.
Example
If you had an hypothesis that says
“Shoppers prefers paper bags to nylon
bags and will pay $5 to get a paper bag
in the store”, your metric for this
hypothesis can be `5 shoppers should
buy at least 1 paper bag each at $5 in
one week. Meeting this metric will
validate that your hypothesis with
Paper bags is worth pursuing else you
might have to make a decision of
either pivoting or persevering
Learning from
your metrics
Learning from your metrics involves 3
actions. When your product meets
your metrics it means your hypothesis
has been validated successfully and
the initial assumption of the product
can be pursued.
If your metric isn’t met, you will need
to either pivot or persevere. Learning
will give you new ideas / hypothesis

  • 7. Most of the products that exist today existed in one form or the other
  • 8. The process of making changes in something established, especially by introducing new methods or ideas is called innovation
  • 9. Take a Car as an example A car is a product of continuous innovation. It is a product that has seen many changes that solves pain points of the previous versions
  • 10. How do you build products that continuously gets better through continuous Innovation
  • 11. Coming up with hypothesis of products you think solves a problem for the user and the user is willing to pay for it
  • 12. Looking at existing products and finding possible ways of solving the pain-points experienced by the users
  • 13. Talking to potential users or current users of similar products to see how they use similar products and the pain points that they have using the product
  • 14. You should also try to find out how much the potential users will be willing to pay for the new product which fixes the pain point they have identified with the old product.
  • 15. Asking for price will allow you to know how painful the pain point you are solving is and how much the product will be worth once developed.
  • 16. Come up with metrics you will track to validate that the pain points you have solved are really solved. Your metrics should be used to validate your hypothesis
  • 18. Measuring the success of your products by tracking your metrics and seeing how your users respond.
  • 19. Example If you had an hypothesis that says “Shoppers prefers paper bags to nylon bags and will pay $5 to get a paper bag in the store”, your metric for this hypothesis can be `5 shoppers should buy at least 1 paper bag each at $5 in one week. Meeting this metric will validate that your hypothesis with Paper bags is worth pursuing else you might have to make a decision of either pivoting or persevering
  • 20. Learning from your metrics Learning from your metrics involves 3 actions. When your product meets your metrics it means your hypothesis has been validated successfully and the initial assumption of the product can be pursued. If your metric isn’t met, you will need to either pivot or persevere. Learning will give you new ideas / hypothesis
