As part of my Interaction Design project, I created a humanized digital/mobile app- "The Checkmate" that will act as your very own companion, helping you skim through daily tasks, monthly targets, set reminders, send personalized wishes, indulge in regular physical workouts and spiritual wellness, and more! The presentation includes an overview about user workflow charts, user personas, target audience segmentation, content strategy, user interface design and supporting deliverables that together ensure a seamless experience for every checkmate user.
3. Many of the fastest growing apps are services that improve existing real-world behaviors, such as
hailing cabs, exercising, organizing schedules, socializing, sorting their pictures/videos, etc.
5. Projectoverview
User as a
“Person”
Process to be
“Humanized”
Technology in the form of
“Multi-use digital app”
The “Checkmate” app
lies at the
confluence of
humanizing the
digital technology to
fulfill certain basic
needs of our end user,
“who is a person with
inherent emotions and
positive feelings”.
6. Goals
Strike a personalized
emotional connection
Organize user
priorities &
schedules
Balance physical
and digital
connectivity
Allow for an
iterative feedback
loop system
15. Uxdesign/contentstrategytechniques:
★ Consistency in typeface, colour schemes, icons usage
★ Simple UI language with easy navigation points
★ Effective taxonomy & ‘call to action’ buttons on all pages
★ Benefits/Rewards to act as trigger points
★ Useful, usable and traceable app tasks/activities
23. Goaltrackingmechanismforanaverageuser
★ Each of the three categories- Wellness, Goals &
Connectivity will have its own metrics and
analytic tools that will help gauge and track
user performance of app tasks on an ongoing basis.
★ The goal tracking system will consist of a “line
graph” analysis to show gradual goal progress & a
“pie chart” to show different types of tasks and
nature of activities performed within the app.
★ The goal scenario will manually update itself on a
daily basis, and create a push-notification for
every change that occurs. If the user’s
performance is low, then the graph will give
recommendations (‘app’ tips) to better utilize the
tasks platform and if the user’s performance is
high, then it will redirect to the rewards table.
24. REwards/benefitssystem
POSITIVITY METER: For a
relatively older user who
wouldn’t compete too much with
other app users, the positivity
meter will be the main
rewarding benefit that will
take into account how quickly &
calmly they finish their task &
will automatically change based
on certain behavioural
attitudes exhibited while
performing. This would
incentivize them to spend
longer time with all of the app
activities and goal sheets to
improve their meter results.
STAR RATING: For the
average millennial user,
the star ratings would be
great because of the
competing tendency with
other checkmaters. They
will give good ratings back
to their friends who rate
them well. The more number
of tasks/activities the
user performs, the more
number of stars they will
get on their rate card &
they can compare results at
the end of every week with
other similar users.
GOAL TRACKING: For an
experienced level user, the
rewards scenario will extend
beyond the ratings and
largely be based on how much,
how well and how fast they
progress on their goal
sheets, work schedules,
daily checklists & wellness
targets in relation to other
similar users. Tracking
periodically to increase
task performance will result
in rewarding the user and
making him share his success
on social media with others.
