THINKING ABOUT JOINING US?
Welcome to the Bajans & Babies Club. We are pleased to have the opportunity to
launch such an initiative for the parents and children across our Island and visitors
alike.
New members and visitors will benefit from our activities
tremendously. Parent members will become a part of a phenomenal community
of parents where they will make new friends, share concerns, ideas, experiences and
learn from and support each other. While children will experience new play and art
opportunities with their parents and new friends and have fun whilst finding out more
about the world and other people.
Inside this issue of the Bajans & Babies Newsletter we have outlined
information about the Club, what we do, when we do it and where we do it. There are
also a number of other useful articles.
Do enjoy your read!

Why Join Our Parent Group?
When families join a parent group, they can meet other families with similar
needs and experiences. Parent groups can serve many purposes, but one of
their most important can be to introduce families to others like themselves.
When families with similar concerns meet, there is a sense of community and
understanding. You create a place where you can laugh about the same things,
discuss the same problems and can help each other. Where else can a parent
find out which local dentists are good with children who don’t sit still, where to
buy specialized clothes, toys, or equipment, how to help a teenager find a
summer or after-school job, or how to get your children ready for school?
The Bajans & Babies Club of course….
“THERE ARE
ACTIVITES
BOTH ADULTS
AND
CHILDREN
WILL ENJOY
TOGETHER.”

Bajans & Babies Newsletter Volume 1, Issue 2
Today I encourage you
to look within an
exercise these qualities
that are a part of who we
are.
WE ARE SPECIAL AND
BORN TO SUCCEED.
Removing those things
that make us forget who
we are - like self-doubt,
bad experiences and the
negative things others
say. Remove them by
declaring positive self-
affirmations daily, speak
well of yourself and the
outcomes of your future,
read motivational and
inspirational books,
From birth we are destined
to achieve great things.
WE ARE SPECIAL AND
BORN TO SUCCEED.
Being a stay-at-home mom
this fact has really become
clearer to me each day I
watch my son Joshua
grow. To achieve his many
milestones he displays and
exercises; Determination,
Persistence, Focus,
Resilience, Strength and
Patience. I am truly
amazed at how without
being taught these
qualities he is able to
naturally exercise them to
achieve what he wants to.
articles, quotations,
surround yourself with
positive speaking people
and images, love who you
are and do the things that
make you VERY HAPPY.
You will see that YOU
ARE SPECIAL AND
BORN TO SUCCEED -
Speak it, Think it, Live it
and YOU WILL BE IT...
Make your declaration:
I AM SPECIAL AND
BORN TO SUCCEED.
I WILL SUCCEED!

mission in life is to gain

dressing herself, let her.
Giving a child responsibility
is good for her self-esteem

5 Benefits of Arts and
Crafts
Bilateral Coordination–
Crafts such as coloring,
drawing, cutting, all require
your child to use both of
their hands together. This
skill is important in other
areas of their lives as they
continue to grow, such as
writing, tying shoes, typing
and so much more!
Fine Motor Coordination–
In order to draw shapes,
cut patterns, and hand
writing, your child is
required to use their fine
motor coordination. These
skills similarly translate to
other areas of their lives,
such as dressing, eating,
and in the academic
setting.
Self Regulation– Crafts
that require drying require
waiting! This is a great
lesson for your child to
demonstrate self control
and patience. Also, as
always things might not go
exactly as we hoped!
Crafts are a great way to
promote flexibility in your
child. There is no right or
wrong way in exploring
one’s own creativity!
Self-esteem booster–
Although we want to
challenge our children, it is
also important to initially
choose arts and crafts that
are at your child’s skill
level. Completing the crafts
successfully will give them
a great sense of
accomplishment and pride.
As you and your child
begin to explore more
crafts, you can add in more
and more challenges
Bonding and fun-
Your children will love
spending time with you and
c r e a t in g s o m e t h in g
together!
Craft Activity for the
Month
Hand Print Flowers
Tools Needed:
1 sheets of card
1 set of paints
1 popsicle stick
1 plastic plate
Scissors
Glue

Pour a bit of paint in the
plate. Dip both hands in the
paint and then stamp them
on the card.
Mummy and Daddy can
then cut out the hand prints
along with two leaves.
Paint your leaves and the
popsicle stick green.
When everything is all
dried well. Stick the hand-
prints on the top of your
popsicle stick and then add
the leaves.
You can make a number of
these flowers and put them

world and helping them to
become competent,
caring, and in control.
Healthy Eating—Superfoods
Eggs Each egg has 6
grams of protein but just
72 calories. Eating eggs
for breakfast (as part of
a low-cal diet) helps you
slim down.
Apples They contain
quercetin, an antioxidant
that may reduce your
risk of lung cancer.
Avocados Their healthy
fat keeps you satisfied
and helps you absorb
other nutrients.
Spinach A half-cup
provides more than five
times your daily dose of
vitamin K, which helps
blood clot and builds
strong bones.
Lentils A great source
of meat-free protein, a
half-cup of cooked lentils
also gives you nearly
half your daily folate, a B
vitamin that protects a
woman's unborn baby
from neural tube defects.
Bran flakes Their whole
grains keep your heart in
tip-top shape by
educing inflammation
and melting away belly
fat.
Bananas They're loaded
with several kinds of
good-for-you fiber,
including resistant starch
(which helps you slim
down).
 Good manners are
attractive. Other parents
and adults prefer kids
who are polite and so do
school teachers.
 Good manners make
others feel good. We all
benefit when the people
around us are more
caring, respectful and
compassionate to each
other.
Why Good Manners Are
Good for our Kids…
 G o od m a nn er s
impress people. Your
children will get positive
attention and respect.
 Good manners build
self-esteem. When you
respect others you
respect yourself and that
makes a person more
confident.
Good Manners Matter

Sardines 3 oz provide
more than 100% of your
daily vitamin D. Sardines
are also a top source of
omega-3 fats.
Barley A top source of
beta-glucan, a fiber that
lowers cholesterol and
helps control blood
sugar.
Oranges One orange
supplies more than
100% of the vitamin C
you need in a day.

When families join a parent group, they can meet other families with similar needs and experiences. Parent groups can serve many purposes, but one of their most important can be to introduce families to others like themselves. When families with similar concerns meet, there is a sense of community and understanding. You create a place where you can laugh about the same things, discuss the same problems and can help each other. Where else can a parent find out which local dentists are good with children who don’t sit still, where to buy specialized clothes, toys, or equipment, how to help a teenager find a summer or after-school job, or how to get your children ready for school? Removing those things that make us forget who we are - like self-doubt, bad experiences and the negative things others say. Remove them by declaring positive self- affirmations daily, speak well of yourself and the outcomes of your future, read motivational and inspirational books, From birth we are destined to achieve great things.
