2. What is Emulsion ?
An emulsion is a mixture of two or more liquids that are normally immiscible (unmixable or
unblendable) owing to liquid-liquid phase separation.
Types of Emulsion
• Water in oil emulsion- Cold Cream
• Oil in water emulsion- Vanishing Cream
3. What is Cold cream ?
Cold cream is an emulsion of water and certain fats, usually including beeswax and various
scent agents, designed to smooth skin and remove makeup. Cold cream is an emulsion of
water in a larger amount of oil.

Aqueous Phase is uniformly dispersed in Oil Phase.

Liquid paraffin- 15%w/w
Methyl paraben- 0.1%w/w

5. 1.Take required quantity of liquid paraffin and beeswax in a beaker. Heat on water bath upto 75°C to
obtain molten mass (Phase A or Oily Phase).
2.In another beaker heat water upto 75°C and add borax (Aqueous Phase).
3. Pour aqueous phase to oil phase by rapid mixing, Cool at 40°C.
4.Add preservative
5.Mix well and allow contents to stand aside before filling.
6.Transfer the preparation into suitable wide mouth container label it properly, evaluate and submit.
