Essay about Germany
Germany is the fourth largest country in area in
Europe, with a total area of 356,970 square
kilometers (137,827 square miles). The country has
a varied terrain that ranges from low–lying coastal
flats along the North and Baltic seas, to a central
area of rolling hills and river valleys, to heavily
forested mountains and snow–covered Alps in the
south. Germany has a long, complex history and rich
culture, but it did not become a unified nation until
1871. Before that time, Germany had been a
confederacy (1815–1867).
The country has a total of 82,071,765 people (1997
estimate). Germany is overwhelmingly urban, and
most people lead a prosperous, comfortable lifestyle,
with adequate leisure time and comprehensive

Stretching from the Baltic and North seas to the Alps,
Germany measures about 800 kilometers (about 500
miles) from north to south; the country extends about
600 km (about 400 miles) from west to east. In
addition to coastline and mountains, the varied
terrain includes forests, hills, plains, and river valleys.
Several navigable rivers traverse the uplands, and
canals connect the river systems of the Elbe, Rhine,
and Danube rivers and link the North Sea with the
Baltic.
Germany has a mostly moderate climate,
characterized by cool winters and warm summers.
River valleys, such the Rhine, tend to be humid and
somewhat warmer in both winter and summer,
whereas mountain areas can be much colder.
Precipitation on the average is much heavier in the
south, especially along the Alpine slopes, which force
incoming weather fronts to rise and let off moisture in
the form of rain and snow.
Germany does not have large pockets of poverty or
great economic disparity. Crime levels are
substantially lower than those in the United States,
and the possession of guns is controlled. However,
there are substantial numbers of homeless people
and problems of violence, alcoholism, and drug
abuse. Nonviolent crimes, such as theft and burglary
in urban areas, have increased since the 1970s.
They occur often enough to make law and order a

HIV and AIDS Essay
HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS. A member of a group of viruses
called retroviruses, HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by those
cells to grow and reproduce. AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is a disease in which the
body's immune system breaks down and is unable to fight off certain infections, known as
"opportunistic infections," and other illnesses that take advantage of a weakened immune system.
When a person is infected with HIV, the virus enters the body and lives and multiplies primarily in
the white blood cells. These are the immune cells that normally protect us from disease.
The hallmark of HIV infection is the progressive loss of a specific...show more content...
Most of them do not know they carry HIV and may be spreading the virus to others. Here in the
U.S., nearly one million people have HIV infection or AIDS, or roughly one out of every 250
people. At least 40,000 Americans become newly infected with HIV each year, and it is estimated
that half of all people with HIV in the U.S. have not been tested and do not know they are carrying
the virus.
Since the beginning of the epidemic, AIDS has killed more than 30 million people worldwide,
including more than 500,000 Americans. AIDS has replaced malaria and tuberculosis as the
world's deadliest infectious disease among adults and is the fourth leading cause of death
worldwide. Over 13 million children have been orphaned by the epidemic. A person who is
HIV–infected carries the virus in certain body fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and
breast milk. The virus can be transmitted only if such HIV–infected fluids enter the bloodstream of
another person. This kind of direct entry can occur (1) through the linings of the vagina, rectum,
mouth, and the opening at the tip of the penis; (2) through intravenous injection with a syringe; or
(3) through a break in the skin, such as a cut or sore. Usually, HIV is transmitted through:
Unprotected sexual intercourse (either vaginal or anal) with someone who is HIV infected.
Women are at greater risk of HIV infection through vaginal sex than men, although

Essay on Writing Experience
My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the
basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things
like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the
future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers,
documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I
predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in
kindergarten. My teacher taught me how to write my name over and over until I could write it with
no errors. All through elementary my teachers taught me...show more content...
I need to learn to quit thinking as much on what I want to write about and how to write about a topic
and just starting jotting stuff down in outline form as it comes to mind. Run–ons and fragments I
need to be able to spot and fix right away or I really need to not have any in my papers at all. My
goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or
have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge
to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays,
and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in
my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to
do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex
education if I want to be a course instructor. Researching information on all of those topics I will
have to make sure I do an excellent job on and collect accurate information and statistics so that I
can compare to other sources. Dictating to the doctor means that I will need to write properly so
that he understands what I am saying. Other nurses will have to be able to understand what I am
talking about by my writing skills when doing shift changes. I will have to be very precise so that
other nurses will not

Essay about Training and Development
Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations,
yet some still look at training as a problem or as something that is not taken seriously. Training and
development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of
its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that
training tends to be more closely focused and adapted towards short–term performance concerns,
while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual's skills for future
responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their
employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up to the...show more content...
Furthermore, spoiled work, damages, and accidents to equipment and machinery can be kept to a
minimum by well trained employees, continued training helps employees develop their ability to
learn by adapting themselves to new work methods, learning to use new kinds of equipment, and
adjusting to major changes in work relationships and job content, also, through training, new
employees learn to measure up to standards for performance, thereby satisfying their human need for
personal growth and increasing their value to the organisation (Pigors and Myers 1977).
Similarly, Longenecker and Fink (2005) assert that the benefits derived from training are manifold,
and these include; exposure to new and better practices and ideas for application, leads to reflection,
self–appraisal and retrospection, motivates employees to improve performance, encourages career
development planning, helps identify specific performance problems and challenges an employee to
think differently, to name a few. Other benefits are a more flexible workforce, improved
performance of existing employees, decreased supervision, higher skill levels and reduced learning
time, thus reducing learning costs, improved organisation morale, and to ensure for succession
(Molander 1989).

Grit Essay Examples
Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength
of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with
grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to
overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost
any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face.
However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to
obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective.
By doing this, one can focus on the task at hand...show more content...
I had no experience as a runner nor did I have the form. This did not phase me however. That year
I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times,
lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I
set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when
I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team
won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The
transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of
becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I
wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people
that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being
physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone
has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to
an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use
the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe
that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent
are just the starting point.

Andrew Wakefield
In 1998, the British medical journal called The Lancet published a controversial research paper
written by Andrew Wakefield. In the research paper "Ileal–lymphoid–nodular hyperplasia,
non–specific colitis, and pervasive developmental disorder in children, " Andrew Wakefield et al.
attempted to link MMR (Mumps, Measles, Rubella) vaccinations and autism. Nevertheless, the paper
seemed to successfully do that. However, this was not known was at the time was Wakefield had
tampered with the findings. Furthermore, this was brought to light in 2004 by British journalist
Brian Deer. In 2011, thirteen years after The Lancet published the paper, and seven years after Brian
Deer exposed the paper. The Lancet finally retracted the article. A common theory

Still, though, there are people that still believe MMR vaccinations cause autism. Andrew

Wakefield has been found guilty of fraud and dishonesty. Thus, causing him to lose his
credentials. Wakefield still denies that he was wrong and he denies the allegations of fraud
(Godlee et al., 2011). The GMC (General Medicine Counsel), the organization that removed
Wakefield's credentials; furthermore the GMC has asked him to either reproduce the results or
say he was wrong. Wakefield has neglected to do either. One of the worst things about this is five
years after being retracted one out of four Americans will not get their children vaccinated
because they believe that MMR vaccinations cause autism. Vaccination rates are higher than they
were ten years ago, but they are still not high enough. In the United States of America, MMR
vaccination rates are at 92% and in the UK they are at 90%. These percentages are pretty good
considering that in the UK rates dropped below 75% and below 58% in some areas (Kolodziejski,
2014. p.165), (Burgess et al,. 2006. p.3921). The numbers are improving, but it is still not high
enough it should be around

My Writing Essay
My Writing
In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others
having to choke out words to write down. In this memo I will describe my writing projects and
how they made me become a better writer, and how they will continue to help develop me into a
becoming a more prosperous writer.
What I Really Learned in English 100
Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he
said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair.
As an assignment I am told that I have to write what I learned in English 100 and how that it
prepared me for English 200. Well sincehonesty is the best way of...show more content...
Having taken many writing classes I have learned many things about writing. I enjoy writing and
can often write many pages about things that I am interested in. I know that I have more learning to
do about writing, and hopefully in the next couple weeks my knowledge of writing will have
expanded and my writing will have improved.
My Experience With Writing Arguments
I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research
paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for
weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough
information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but
when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course
such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much
information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to
the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and
keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to
become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had
written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in

Importance Of Writing Paper
Writing papers have not always been my favorite thing to do. The main reason why I detested
writing papers, was because I considered my English horrible. English is not my native language
and learning it was difficult in my opinion. Especially, when as a child the only place where you
could speak English was at school. Other than that, the only language I was allowed to speak at
home was Spanish. Throughout the years I eventually got the hang of it, and at the beginning of
fourth grade, I was placed in a regular English class instead of being in an English Language
Learning (ELL) class. But even after that, I still detested writing. After the struggle of learning a
new language, I was proud of myself for taking challenging classes that...show more content...
I would take hours staring at a piece of paper or computer screen thinking about what to write
about. I even remember sometimes not even getting the introduction paragraph done, causing me
to stress out. Just because I did not have one sentence written down. That was one of the main
reasons why I really hated writing with a passion, besides struggling; when we hate doing
something, we tend to not try our best. Also, I never understood why writing was so important
when I knew once I got to college, I would not major or do anything dealing with writing.
Thinking I would never have to write essays, papers etc., again. This year was different, I actually
did not struggle with any of my writing and I had most of them done before the due date. What
really helped me was, brain–storming my thoughts, which helped me analyze what I would want to
write for every paragraph and also let me know what my main point was going to be, leading me to
create a thesis without no complications. Another strategy that helped me was organization. If your
paper was not organized correctly and is all over the place, anything we would say would not have
made sense. Another strategy that helped me was, re–reading my paper. Re–reading the paper is a
very good strategy. It helps with catching any grammatical or punctuation errors we could have
missed. Even after reading it, it is always good to get someone else to read it. Because it helps us see
other people's opinions and as well any

How My Writing Has Changed Essay
My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will
explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved.
Aspects of My Writing during High School
During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple
journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and
procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term
paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped
me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper
finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content...
I do this so the information is true, and also in order from which events have occurred. When I
wrote my term paper my senior year I was well organized. I was required to write about an event
in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at
all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards
about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which
different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it
all flowed together.
How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing
I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For
my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was
different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me
a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will
definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years.
The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to
class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given
topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think

Essay about A Stroke
A stroke is a type of cardiovascular disease that affects the cerebral arteries, those blood vessels
that carry blood to the brain. A stroke occurs when one of those blood vessels in the brain is
obstructed or ruptures flooding the brain with blood. Depriving blood and oxygen to the brain
results in those immediate cells death, causing the brain not to function properly. Once parts of the
brain stop functioning, it can directly affect the areas of the body controlled (1). Astroke can be
generally be defined in two types of categories. The first and most common type of stroke is called
ischemic stroke. This occurs when a blood clot (cerebral thrombosis) blocks a blood vessel in the
brain. Blood flow beyond the blood clot is then...show more content...
They can cause blood to seep out of the brain and accumulate around it, resulting in increased
pressure in the brain. This build up of pressure within the brain can cause altered brain function
(1). In many cases, strokes can be diagnosed, prevented and treatable. Symptoms of a stroke can
occur quickly and may cause: sudden numbness, tingling, or weakness, or paralysis in your face,
arm, or leg, especially on one side of your body. Sudden: vision changes, trouble speaking (slurred
speech), confusion or trouble understanding simple statements, problems with walking or balance,
severe headache. It's recommended to call a doctor or 911 even if these symptoms last for a short
amount of time because a transient ischemic attack, or mini stroke may have occurred. The transient
ischemic attack may be a precursor to a stroke occurring soon. Catching these symptoms can
dramatically increase chances of prevention additional damage to the body (2). To have their
symptoms diagnosed, a person must first seek medical treatment. Only 20–25% of patients who are
admitted to the hospital with a stroke arrive in the emergency department within 3 hours of the
onset of symptoms (3). Once a doctor is able to determine what kind of stroke has occurred, it is
important the appropriate medicine be given. If the wrong medicine were given to treat a stroke
victim, it could result in death. Treatment for an ischemic stroke will focus mainly on restoring
blood flow

October 19, 2016 Reflection Paper
It's hard to believe that it's already time for Midterms in my English 101 class. The adventure has
been a lot easier than I at first anticipated. In any case, I am happy that I am taking the class and
learning from it. In the beginning it appeared somewhat hard however I was resolved to compel my
way through this class regardless of what difficulties I needed to persevere.
On the first day of my English 101 class I was apprehensive, I had no clue what's in store from the
class. As I discovered what the class would have been similar to, I let myself know I was going to
attempt to get an B or higher toward the end of the semester and put all the exertion I had into each

I have an unmistakable view in my head of what I am going to compose and what structures I have

things are done or on the chance that I don't understand how I should do what I am expected to do.
These aptitudes may empower me to enjoy additionally composing and not need to stress over
having a written assignment.
This course has helped me with many chances to figure out how to properly write papers. Prior to
this class, I had little experience with how to build a legitimate paper. It has taken experience, and
getting normal evaluations, to show me how to precisely write. Despite the fact that this course
required different papers to be turned in, I am appreciative to have possessed the capacity to gain
from my oversights and develop as a writer. I have constantly cherished written work, however now
I am ready to improve my writing as the semester

  • 1. Essay about Germany Germany is the fourth largest country in area in Europe, with a total area of 356,970 square kilometers (137,827 square miles). The country has a varied terrain that ranges from low–lying coastal flats along the North and Baltic seas, to a central area of rolling hills and river valleys, to heavily forested mountains and snow–covered Alps in the south. Germany has a long, complex history and rich culture, but it did not become a unified nation until 1871. Before that time, Germany had been a confederacy (1815–1867). The country has a total of 82,071,765 people (1997 estimate). Germany is overwhelmingly urban, and most people lead a prosperous, comfortable lifestyle, with adequate leisure time and comprehensive social...show more content... Several navigable rivers traverse the uplands, and canals connect the river systems of the Elbe, Rhine, and Danube rivers and link the North Sea with the Baltic. Germany has a mostly moderate climate, characterized by cool winters and warm summers. River valleys, such the Rhine, tend to be humid and somewhat warmer in both winter and summer, whereas mountain areas can be much colder. Precipitation on the average is much heavier in the south, especially along the Alpine slopes, which force incoming weather fronts to rise and let off moisture in the form of rain and snow. Germany does not have large pockets of poverty or great economic disparity. Crime levels are substantially lower than those in the United States, and the possession of guns is controlled. However, there are substantial numbers of homeless people and problems of violence, alcoholism, and drug abuse. Nonviolent crimes, such as theft and burglary in urban areas, have increased since the 1970s. They occur often enough to make law and order a recurrent

  • 4. HIV and AIDS Essay HIV is the human immunodeficiency virus that causes AIDS. A member of a group of viruses called retroviruses, HIV infects human cells and uses the energy and nutrients provided by those cells to grow and reproduce. AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is a disease in which the body's immune system breaks down and is unable to fight off certain infections, known as "opportunistic infections," and other illnesses that take advantage of a weakened immune system. When a person is infected with HIV, the virus enters the body and lives and multiplies primarily in the white blood cells. These are the immune cells that normally protect us from disease. The hallmark of HIV infection is the progressive loss of a specific...show more content... Most of them do not know they carry HIV and may be spreading the virus to others. Here in the U.S., nearly one million people have HIV infection or AIDS, or roughly one out of every 250 people. At least 40,000 Americans become newly infected with HIV each year, and it is estimated that half of all people with HIV in the U.S. have not been tested and do not know they are carrying the virus. Since the beginning of the epidemic, AIDS has killed more than 30 million people worldwide, including more than 500,000 Americans. AIDS has replaced malaria and tuberculosis as the world's deadliest infectious disease among adults and is the fourth leading cause of death worldwide. Over 13 million children have been orphaned by the epidemic. A person who is HIV–infected carries the virus in certain body fluids, including blood, semen, vaginal secretions, and breast milk. The virus can be transmitted only if such HIV–infected fluids enter the bloodstream of another person. This kind of direct entry can occur (1) through the linings of the vagina, rectum, mouth, and the opening at the tip of the penis; (2) through intravenous injection with a syringe; or (3) through a break in the skin, such as a cut or sore. Usually, HIV is transmitted through: Unprotected sexual intercourse (either vaginal or anal) with someone who is HIV infected. Women are at greater risk of HIV infection through vaginal sex than men, although Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Essay on Writing Experience My Writing Experiences My experiences in writing have been minimal. I have only learned the basics of writing, like putting together sentences, forming paragraphs with sentences, and things like that. Since I have been taking college English, I can tell my writing has improved a lot. In the future, I hope to be able to improve tremendously at writing essays, paragraphs, research papers, documents, and stories so that I have very little to no errors with drafting and final products. I predict I will be a well rounded writer when I graduate from college. Writing in the past started in kindergarten. My goals are to write papers and not have to reassure myself that maybe I need to do more research or have more data or even have to rethink my whole topic over. I would love to have the knowledge to be a tutor someday and teach other people how to properly write papers, paragraphs, essays, and maybe even books. To have excellent skills in writing will definitely be a great advantage in my nursing profession. In nursing, I will have to do lots of charting on my patients. I will have to do health presentations on various subjects such as exercising, how our society eats, and sex education if I want to be a course instructor. • 7. Essay about Training and Development Training and development has become increasingly essential to the success of modern organisations, yet some still look at training as a problem or as something that is not taken seriously. Training and development is one key approach used by organisations to improve and maintain the capabilities of its workforce. However, many experts distinguish between training and development, being that training tends to be more closely focused and adapted towards short–term performance concerns, while development tends to be adapted more towards expanding an individual's skills for future responsibilities (Snell and Bohlander 2007). The main reason that organisations train their employees is to bring their knowledge, skills and abilities up to the...show more content... Furthermore, spoiled work, damages, and accidents to equipment and machinery can be kept to a minimum by well trained employees, continued training helps employees develop their ability to learn by adapting themselves to new work methods, learning to use new kinds of equipment, and adjusting to major changes in work relationships and job content, also, through training, new employees learn to measure up to standards for performance, thereby satisfying their human need for personal growth and increasing their value to the organisation (Pigors and Myers 1977). Similarly, Longenecker and Fink (2005) assert that the benefits derived from training are manifold, and these include; exposure to new and better practices and ideas for application, leads to reflection, self–appraisal and retrospection, motivates employees to improve performance, encourages career development planning, helps identify specific performance problems and challenges an employee to think differently, to name a few. Other benefits are a more flexible workforce, improved performance of existing employees, decreased supervision, higher skill levels and reduced learning time, thus reducing learning costs, improved organisation morale, and to ensure for succession (Molander 1989). • 8. Grit Essay Examples Grit is a predictor of academic, professional, and personal success. Grit can be defined as strength of character or the ability to overcome failure and continue to work toward success. People with grit are not always the people with the most natural ability, but their work ethic and ability to overcome obstacles allows them to achieve success. Grit is a very valuable characteristic in almost any venture, as it gives someone an advantage in overcoming the inevitable obstacles they will face. However, grit is much easier adopted when an individual has a growth mindset. The first step to obtaining grit is to correlate both self–control and self–confidence when trying to reach an objective. That year I promised myself to push through all the six mile runs, sore legs, gnarly blisters, and at times, lack of oxygen. At every meet and speed workout practice I pushed myself further and further. I set a goal every time I kicked off from the starting line and never let myself get discouraged when I failed. By my senior year, I was the fourth fastest runner on varsity. That year our varsity team won the district meet, which qualified us to run in the 2016 state meet in Oregon. The transformation over the years were evident. My determination to accomplish my goal of becoming a faster runner was complete. If I had simply just given up that first day of practice, I wouldn't have ran along side of the fastest runners in Oregon or have met the multitude of people that are now my closest friends. Having a goal sets one up for a challenge, whether it being physically or mentally, goals keep us active and thinking in more ways than one. Still, if someone has self–control, confidence, and a goal, they are still not complete. Growth mindset is the cone to an ice cream. It is the foundation of what I think a successful person is. Without it one couldn't use the characteristics mentioned above in more ways than one. Someone with a growth mindset believe that their most basic abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work, brains and talent are just the starting point. In the research paper "Ileal–lymphoid–nodular hyperplasia, non–specific colitis, and pervasive developmental disorder in children, " Andrew Wakefield et al. attempted to link MMR (Mumps, Measles, Rubella) vaccinations and autism. Nevertheless, the paper seemed to successfully do that. However, this was not known was at the time was Wakefield had tampered with the findings. The GMC (General Medicine Counsel), the organization that removed Wakefield's credentials; furthermore the GMC has asked him to either reproduce the results or say he was wrong. Wakefield has neglected to do either. One of the worst things about this is five years after being retracted one out of four Americans will not get their children vaccinated because they believe that MMR vaccinations cause autism. Vaccination rates are higher than they were ten years ago, but they are still not high enough. In the United States of America, MMR vaccination rates are at 92% and in the UK they are at 90%. These percentages are pretty good considering that in the UK rates dropped below 75% and below 58% in some areas (Kolodziejski, 2014. p.165), (Burgess et al,. 2006. p.3921). My Experience With Writing Arguments I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. That course taught me to become a better writer and to respect how much detail really goes into a research paper like I had written. Other than that, I have not really had much experience in Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. Importance Of Writing Paper Writing papers have not always been my favorite thing to do. The main reason why I detested writing papers, was because I considered my English horrible. English is not my native language and learning it was difficult in my opinion. Especially, when as a child the only place where you could speak English was at school. Other than that, the only language I was allowed to speak at home was Spanish. Throughout the years I eventually got the hang of it, and at the beginning of fourth grade, I was placed in a regular English class instead of being in an English Language Learning (ELL) class. But even after that, I still detested writing. After the struggle of learning a new language, I was proud of myself for taking challenging classes that...show more content... I would take hours staring at a piece of paper or computer screen thinking about what to write about. I even remember sometimes not even getting the introduction paragraph done, causing me to stress out. Just because I did not have one sentence written down. That was one of the main reasons why I really hated writing with a passion, besides struggling; when we hate doing something, we tend to not try our best. Also, I never understood why writing was so important when I knew once I got to college, I would not major or do anything dealing with writing. Thinking I would never have to write essays, papers etc., again. This year was different, I actually did not struggle with any of my writing and I had most of them done before the due date. What really helped me was, brain–storming my thoughts, which helped me analyze what I would want to write for every paragraph and also let me know what my main point was going to be, leading me to create a thesis without no complications. Another strategy that helped me was organization. If your paper was not organized correctly and is all over the place, anything we would say would not have made sense. Another strategy that helped me was, re–reading my paper. Re–reading the paper is a very good strategy. It helps with catching any grammatical or punctuation errors we could have missed. Even after reading it, it is always good to get someone else to read it. Because it helps us see other people's opinions and as well any Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. How My Writing Has Changed Essay My writing styles have changed drastically over the past four years of high school. This memo will explain how my writing has changed and how my knowledge of writing has improved. Aspects of My Writing during High School During my English courses throughout high school, I learned many things from writing simple journals, research papers, and a single term paper. During high school, I was laid back and procrastinated for much of my work. During the latter part of high school when I wrote my term paper my senior year, I found out that working a little every night writing a few paragraphs helped me out greatly. I was not just throwing something together just to get the grade and the paper finished. I spent time on the paper and...show more content... I was required to write about an event in history. I chose India Uprising of 1877 as the topic of my paper. This topic was not interesting at all, but I chose to write about it. When I finished writing my thesis and outline, I wrote note cards about the different topics, which allowed me to gather all my information and organize it in which different events occurred. When I was finished with the paper, it sounded and read consistently and it all flowed together. How These Experiences Prepared Me for College Writing I have written many different types of papers for all of my classes throughout high school. For my science classes, I have written several labs in the form of essays. Writing the essays was different for me because I did not really know that science had much to do with writing. It took me a while to gather all the information I needed to finish my lab assignments. Writing lab reports will definitely help me in my science courses in the next four years. The journals I have written came from my four years of high school English. Everyday I came to class there would be a topic on the board. I took five minutes each day to write about the given topic. It was brainstorming and giving our input on whatever the topic was. I think Get more content on HelpWriting.net
