2. INTRODUCTION:-
During September 2000,
representatives from 189 countries met at the
millennium summit in new York , to adopt the
united nations millennium declaration the
goals in the area of development and poverty
eradication are now widely referred to as “
millennium development goals (MDGs) .
3. Definition:-
According to Wikipedia
“The millennium development goals (MDGs) are eight
goals with measurable targets and clear deadlines
for improving the live of the world’s poorest people
to meet these goals and eradicate poverty.”
OBJECTIVES:-
Generals objective :-
To explore the achivenment and progress of health
related MDGs in Nepal.
4. Specific objectives:-
To know the effort of Nepal government to ahiveve
health related MDGs .
To find out the current situation of health related
MDGs indication .
To know the global post-MDGs agenda.
GOALS OF MDGs
1. To eradicate extreme poverty and hunger.
2. To achive universal primary education.
3. To promote gender equality and empower women
5. 4. To reduce child mortality.
5. To improve maternal health.
6. To combat HIV/AIDS ,malaria and other disease.
7. To ensure environmental sustainability .
8. To develop a global partnership for development.

7. TARGET:- Halve the proportion of people living in
extreme poverty.
Present status:-
India is moderately successful in reducing poverty
and likely to miss target by 3.5% point.
The poverty head count ratio is estimated to reach
18.6% by 2015.
8. The malnutrition and underweight children’s %
come down from 53.5 to 46% .
Global information :-
Evidence of improvement in children nutritional
status.
Percentage of underweight children has been
estimated to decline from 25%.
Indicators:-
poverty headcount ratio (percentage of population
below the national poverty line).

10. Target:-
ensure that by 2015 children everywhere boys
and girls will be able to complete a full course of
primary schooling.
Present status :-
O n track and in some cases , a head of target for
universalizing primary education.
Cross enrolment rates for both girls and boys in
2006-07 crossed 100%.
12. Target:-
Eliminate gender disparity in primary and secondary
education.
Track key element of women social , economic and
political participation and guide the building of
gender equitable societies.
All the MDGs are interdependent and gender equality
is essential to the achievement of better health.
13. India is moderately or almost nearly on track
however participation of women in employment
and disparity is not likely to eliminate by 2015.
The labor market openness for women in
industry and service has marginally increased
from 13-18% between 1990-91 and 2004-05 .
14. Target :-
reduce by two third under five mortality rate
by 2015
Personal status :-
India under five mortality (USMB) declined from 125
per 1000live births in 1990 to 74.6 per 1000 live
birth in 2005.
USMR is expected to further decline to 70 per 1000
live births by 2015 and might fail to achieve

16. Target:-
Reduce by three quarters the maternal mortality
rate between 1990 and 2015 .
Achieve by 2015, universal access to reproductive
health.
Present status:-
The prevent MMR is 254 per 1000 live birth as
compared to 1990
Despite progress India is expected to fall short by
26 point by 2015.
17. Target:-
by 2015 half and begin to reverse to spread of
HIV/AIDS
Achieve by 2010 universal treatment for
HIV/AIDS for all those who need it
By 2015 half and begin to reverse the incidence
of malaria and other major disease.
Present status:-
India made significant stride in reducing to
prevalence of and death has declined.

19. Target :-
The proportion of people without sustainable
access to safe drinking water and basic
sanitation by 2015.
Achieve a significant improvement in the lives
of at least 100 million slums dwellers by 2015
Present status:-
Some progress in ensuring the environment
sustainability.
20. Forest cover has increased to 21% and protested
area cover to 4.83% of country total land area
India is on track of achieving the MDG target of
sustainable access to safe drinking water.s
21. Target:-
in co-operation with pharmaceutical
companies , provide access to affordable
essential drugs in developing countries .
Develop further on open rule based
predictable non discriminatory and financial
system .
