1. Pitch
Took Once More
Synopsis
Only a week ago, some highly confidential information was stolen from
someone on the inside of MI5. Now special agents have been deployed to
infiltrate the mercenaries that have gathered this information; they are to
retrieve this information and destroy it before any details are leaked to the
public. But obviously behind any specialist job, taken on by the biggest,
bravest and highly trained men in the mercenary business, there are the
brains that set up and run the entire operations. One computer wizard in
particular, whom is the only one that has his hands on the information in
question, is on the run from the agents that are trying to get this sensitive
material back out of the wrong hands. Where this young man was
functioning from is a large farm in the countryside, a rural location where
he thought he’d never be found. Now he has.
Opening Sequence
Took Once More’s opening sequence begins with the suspect on the run
through the woods outside the farmhouse. The agents aren’t far behind
him however, as they split up. One chasing him directly, and the other
about to cut across the path of the fleeing criminal mastermind. These
shots will be taken from a medium distance, so the camera can capture the
full motion of the characters running, taken by a tracking shot as they run
in a particular direction. The camera will then pan as the two characters
(one fleeing, the other chasing) run into the thickness of the woods. A
medium close up of the agent waiting to catch the fleeing suspect will be
taken, to show the man focusing on the task he has to do. Point of view will
be the next shot taken, that will be from the chaser’s perspective, as he
sees the man he was in pursuit of being grabbed by his fellow agent and
dragged to the ground. This other agent will be blurred out at first as only
the man being chased will be in the shallow focus, but this will change to a
deep focus as the other agent comes into view.
The next scene is inside a barn (or shed) where the fleeing suspect will be
interrogated. An establishing, low angle shot will be taken from outside
the shed to show the audience where the next scene will take place. Before
any questioning begins, a two shot will be taken from the perspective of
the captured man of the two agents standing high above him, as they glare
down at him. A series of shot/reverse shots will be taken as the questions
2. are asked, but no answers are heard as we see the suspects face. There will
then be a close up of the tools the agents have at their disposal to get the
man to talk. The camera will then switch outside and slowly zooms out
from the shed, as cries of pain are heard to be coming from inside. The
torture procedure has now begun.
Appealing to the target audience
‘Took Once More’ will appeal to the target audience of thriller lovers, as
they are thrown straight into the action from the opening in the film. Male
teenagers and young men will want to watch this film because it is full of
action and suspense, and from the very beginning raises questions that
will become clearer later in the film. Because of the implied violence, and
being able to figure out exactly what the characters portray themselves as
real life people, the audience will be of age 15 or above. In films such as
The Departed and Se7en, there is action and hidden stories which the
audience must uncover.
Idea Sources
We gained our ideas for this film from films such as The Bourne films, with
hidden conspiracies. Also, the torture mission in GTA5 gave us the idea of
one character wanting the information, one with the information that was
being interrogated and the one dealing out the beatings. We like the idea of
the truth trying to be revealed by these people, so the public can know
what is really going on. But then again the audience also understand that
protecting this information is possibly for the best, so they can see both
sides. This gives the narrative an edge, something that will allow it to differ
from a similar type of film.
Title Sequence
In our film, the titles will roll continuously on a 5 second window, showing
up in the corner so it doesn’t take the attention away from the early action
in the opening sequence. They will be laid over the top of the footage that
we will capture, which is seen in many TV series such as ‘Lost’ or ‘NCIS’.
Films do this too, so we want to carry that on so we can get the most out of
the gripping opening material. These titles will include all the major roles
mentioned in the call sheet such as: Director, Producer, Actors etc and will
include institutional information such as distributor.
