All praise is due to Allah ‫ﷻ‬ who has blessed us with
the power of Imaan and knowledge. Salutations to our
beloved Prophet (SAW).
I am truly honoured and privileged to serve as the
Director of Aesha Learning Center (ALC). I thank the
Management and staff for their energetic effort
throughout the year.
At ALC, education is not just the amount of
information that is put into a child’s brain, we focus on
the practical aspects of Islam. This develops a student
to become a practicing Aalima/ Hafiza, capable of
finding solutions for the contemporary problems in the
daily life of a Muslim. Our teachers are committed to
working hard to help the students achieve their full
potential.
I would like the parents to know that my door is always
open to discuss any concerns, questions, or ideas you
may have regarding your child’s education.
We are grateful to all generous sponsors and donors for
their contributions. May Allah bless you in abundance.
I hope that all of you feel proud of being a part of this
blessed Islamic School.

Truly grateful to Allah for his guidance. I am delighted
to welcome you to Aesha Learning Center, an
improving school which provides Islamic education.
We, at Aesha Learning Center, ensure quality Islamic
education which motivates and empowers our students.
This has been a very eventful year. Grateful to Allah
for guiding us through this. The huge number of
enrollments we had throughout the year was quite
surprising. The conern of parents regarding their child’s
Islamic Knowledge is commendable.
We firmly believe that the parents are their child’s first
and most important teacher. Parents play a vital role in
the education of their children. We happily welcome all
our parents to take an active role in the education of
their children. I am eager to work with parents in
supporting their children in their education.
My commitment to our community is to lead the school
with best Islamic Knowledge. Let us work together to
make ALC as the best school it can be.
Sincere thanks to all who have helped ALC. May Allah
reward you immensely.

In the name of Allah (SWT) the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi
Wa Barakatuhu,
Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah), by the grace of the Almighty we have come to an end of an academic
year. On behalf of Fiji Muslim Women’s League and the National Executive Committee, I feel greatly
honoured to be given this opportunity to Congratulate all the students that will be graduating today. I hope
they were able to strive to achieve the goals they had to set for themselves at the beginning of the term.
Islam simply means peace, purity, acceptance and commitment. In a religious context it means complete
submission to the will Of Allah.
Islam is a way of life, a combination of spiritual, moral and Material values of faith and worship, a code of
conduct and a Complete system of guidance.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Aesha Learning Center we sincerely appreciate the role
of ALC in our Muslim Community, We having been working with them for many years in the past and
hope so to continue this dawaah journey with them. We also like to acknowledge the principal Sister Nadia
Khan and her staffs for their hard work and effort in motivating and educating the Muslim Women’s
Community. And a tremendous effort to make The Dawaah workshop and The Islamic inheritance (will
workshop) a great success. And the dedication and sincerity in FMWL 2023 Tilawat-e- Quran And Urdu
Oratory Competition.
We are extremely proud of what ALC is doing in educating the Muslim Women’s and Girls towards deen
and right path of Islam. Their guidance, patience and encouragement have played a pivotal role in helping
us to navigate through the challenges, and educating the ummah.
Fiji Muslim Women’s League is committed to provide avenues in developing Islamic leadership qualities
and competencies in our Muslim Women’s and Youths. It sees them as potentials that needs attention
through various activities and programs we organize for our women and youths. We need to do our part in
providing guidance to the leaders of the future, today! Let’s not take this matter lightly
What we saw today, is what we reap tomorrow, hence time and investment in youth today is absolutely
important. May Allah swt richly bless ALC, the principal, its staff and to all those who help, support and
work with it. May Almighty Allah’s choicest blessing be upon you all. May he reward all accordingly on
the day of Judgement. Ameen., the principal, its staff and to all those who help, support and work with it.
May Almighty Allah’s choicest blessing be upon you all. May he reward all accordingly on the day of
Judgement. Ameen.
Lastly I would like to thank all FMWL Branches and officials for choosing me to lead this prestigious
organization and my enormous thanks goes to all of them for their hard work and dedication. They provide
Khidmah in serving Deen through FMWL to please Allah.
While we enjoy today, let’s pray and not forget about the unfortunates around the world who are living in
state of oppression, starvation, poverty and illness. May Allah ease and resolve all their issues. May Allah
give shifa to all those who are sick and grant all the marhoom and marhoomas highest abode in Jannat-ul-
firdaus. Ameen.

Note
Do it for the sake of
ALLAH!
The first hadith we teach at ALC is "Actions are dependent
upon their intentions". Our actions will only be rewarded if
we do it with the right intention. What is the right intention?
The intention to please ALLAH!
The messenger of Allah (SAW) said:
" Whoever pleases Allah by angering the
people, Allah will suffice him, but whoever
angers Allah by pleasing the people, Allah will
leave him to the people".
Don't worry about what other's think. Life is not about
pleasing people but Allah. Do ibadah to please Allah. Give
charity to please Allah, help people for the sake of Allah .
Trust Allah when things don't work out the way you want.
Allah has something better planned for you. Allah’s timing is
perfect in every matter. We don't always understand the
wisdom behind it but we have to learn to trust it.
Allah says in the Quran:
" He will give you something better than what
was taken from you" [Surah Anfal: Ayat 70] .
AsmaRazak
EDITOR-IN-CHIEF
It is my pleasure to present you this magazine Al-Hilaal.
Thankful to all who have contributed. It wouldn't have been
possible without Allah’s guidance. Kind reminder for all to
do good deeds for the sake of ALLAH only. May Allah reward
our deeds with highest ranks in Jannah!
For everything you Lose there is a
replacement, But for Allah, if you lose him
there is no replacement

Aesha Learning Center is one of
the first Islamic girls institute in the
South Pacific providing its services
to the Ummah since 2005. All our
credits go to the Almighty Allah
alone, for he has eased our paths
to reach where we are today,
Alhamdulillah.
It started with Basic Islamic
Knowledge only with very few
students. Currently there are a
total of 180 students which
includes boarding and Saturday
Class students, ladies and Online
Class students.
Aesha Learning Center, runs an
accelerated learning programme
for students seeking extra
qualifications towards religious
education.
Aesha Learning Center has been
successful in achieving its goals and
has produced many confident and
independent women who are
contributing positively to the
society. For the last 18 years ALC
has graduated an approximate of 76
Alimahs, 25 Hafizas and 20 well-
trained teachers. Approximately
300 students have studied at this
institute. Started conducting more
workshops since this year in
collaboration with FMWL. Grateful
for FMWL to give privilege to ALC
teachers to judge their Quran
Tilawat and Oratory Competition.
Also started online classes for
graduate students as a refresher
course.
Thanks to all staffs, parents,
caregivers, donors and well-wishers
who have contributed to the success
of this madarsa.
It is the centre of attraction for
many parents, therefore a number
of students have taken advantage
by memorizing the Holy Qur’aan or
taken its depth islamic studies.
Alhamdulillah, the madarsa has
progressed very well since its
inception. The curriculum includes
subjects such as Quran with
Tajweed, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic and
General Islamic Knowledge. The
school places a high priority on
giving its students an excellent
education. We make every effort
to teach our students the great
values of Islam that respects every
individual's rights. And that they
gain knowledge in every aspect of
life hence, be proud of their
achievements.
The school was established by
Maulana Faiyaz Ali Khan & his
wife Muallimah Nadia Khan
for girls, seeing a huge gap in
girl’s education towards Islam.
The institute provides free
Islamic education to the
females in the South Pacific.
It is a private institute,
registered as a religious body,
which solely runs on
donations.
The institute raises funds
through donations from
individuals.These funds are
used to support school
operations and provide best
service to the students. Our
students are from all over Fiji
such as Suva, Nausori, Navua,
Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka,
Nadi, Sigatoka, Labasa,
Taveuni, etc. We also have
students from New Zealand.

Story of A
Pious
Predecessor
An exceptional story of a special student named Hazrat
Hatem Asem ؒ who was the disciple of Hazrat Shaqiq
Balakhiؒ.
One day Hazrat Shaqiq Balakhiؒ asked his student, Hazrat
Hatemؒ, “How long have you been in my company?”
Hazrat Hatem ؒ said: “For the last 33 years.”
Hazrat Shaqiq ؒ asked, “What have you learnt from me
during this period?”
Hazrat Hatemؒ said, “I have learnt only eight things.”
Hazrat Shaqiqؒ got very demotivated upon hearing this. He
asked, “You have not learnt except eight things!”
Hazrat Hatemؒ replied, “Yes, O dear teacher, I have learnt
nothing except eight things. I do not wish to speak
falsehood.”
Hazrat Shaqiqؒ asked, “Ok, let me hear them. Describe
those eight things to me.”
Hazrat Hatem Asimؒ began to describe them. He said,
Translated by Muallimah Sumaiyah Razak
8 UNIQUE LIFE LESSONS
32
SECONDLY, LIVING A LIFE OF OBEDIENCE AND RESTRAIN IN THIS
WORLD WILL LEAD TO PARADISE.
When I pondered and reflected on this verse of the Holy Quran;
And as for those who were in awe of standing before their Lord and
restrained themselves from evil desires, paradise will certainly be
their home. [79 :40-41]
I knew this to be the truth and so I controlled my desires to such an
extent that it became firmly fixed on the obedience of Allah ‫ﷻ‬.
THIRDLY, SAVE YOUR MOST VALUED POSSESSIONS IN THE BANK OF
AKHIRAH WHICH WILL LAST FOREVER.
I saw that people would take great care of their valuables, keeping them very
well protected and safe. Then I came across this verse in the Holy Quran;
Whatever you have will end, but whatever Allah‫ﷻ‬ has is everlasting. And We
will certainly reward the steadfast according to the best of their deeds.
[16:96]
Upon learning about the temporariness of the worldly things from this Ayat,
whenever I had something which I valued most, I would send it to Allah ‫ﷻ‬ [give
it in sadqah in the path of Allah SWT] so that it could be kept safe and well
protected for me forever.
FOURTH, THE BEST RECOGNITION AND FAME IS THAT WHICH IS IN
THE SIGHT OF ALLAH ‫ﷻ‬.
When I looked towards creation, I saw people getting pulled towards
wealth, fame in order to rise themselves in status and recognition. But
the reality was that all these recognitions was insignificant in the
greater schelme of things. When I saw what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said in this Ayat:
Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most
righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware.
I chose to gain recognition in the sight of Allah SWT by living a life of
piety.
FIRSTLY, GOOD DEEDS ARE THE LOYALIST COMPANION, EVERYONE ELSE
LEAVES.
When I looked towards the creation, I saw everyone had a love for
something or someone, example their wife/ husband/ children/ wealth/
relatives, etc., which they lived with, but when they die, they go alone, and
their loved ones are left behind. So, I choose to love good deeds so that
when I leave this world it will accompany me.

FIFTH, THE DISTRIBUTION OF RIZK [WEALTH] IS IN THE HANDS OF
ALLAH. BEING JEALOUS OF PEOPLE SERVES NO PURPOSE.
When I looked towards the creation, I saw people bad mouthing one
another looking for flaws and backbiting. All these because of greed and
jealousy! When I saw what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said;
We have allocated among them their livelihood in the worldly life and
have raised some of them over others in ranks, so that some of them
may put some others to work. And the mercy of your Lord is much
better than what they accumulate. [43:32]
Because of this verse, I stopped being jealous and stopped being
bothered by what people did or thought. I knew that the distribution of
rizk [wealth] was only in the control of Allah ‫ﷻ‬ and He would give whom
he wanted whatever amount He wanted. Therefore, I left the hatred of
people and understood that the wealth of people increasing or
decreasing was not in total control of them. This was all from the king of
all Kingdoms [Malikul Mulk]. And so, I do not feel any anger towards
people at all now.
SIXTH, THE ONE AND ONLY ENEMY OF THE BELIEVERS IS SHAITAN.
When I looked towards people of this world, I saw almost everyone had
some sort of fight or enormity with someone. When I looked towards
what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said in the Quran;
Surely Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only
invites his followers to become inmates of the Blaze. [35:6]
I chose to make my enemy shaitan and tried my best to stay away from
him since Allah ‫ﷻ‬ had told us of shaitan being our enemy. So, I removed
my enormity from everyone else.
SEVENTH, SUSTENANCE IS ALREADY WRITTEN FOR US THEREFORE
USING UNLAWFUL MEANS FOR WHAT IS ALREADY WRITTEN IS
COUNTERPRODUCTIVE.
I saw that all the people of this world were busy in the search for
sustenance and in this search, they would humiliate themselves and
use unlawful means, and when I looked towards what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said;
There is no moving creature on earth whose provision is not
guaranteed by Allah‫ﷻ‬. And He knows where it lives and where it is laid
to rest. All is written in a perfect Record. [11:6]
Upon reflection on this fact that I am also from those walking on earth
for whom sustenance is the responsibility of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, so I decided to
spend my time on those things within my control which Allah ‫ﷻ‬ has
made compulsory and mandatory on me, and I freed myself from that
which was not in my control rather it was in the control and the
responsibility of Allah ‫ﷻ‬.

Hazrat Shaqiq ؒ said; Hatim ؒ may Allah ‫ﷻ‬ gift you ease
in doing good deeds. The sum total of all that you
have understood and just mentioned is the
condensed version of the teachings of the four Holy
books of Islam [Tauraat, Zabur, Injeel, Quran Majeed].
Whom so ever brings into practice these eight points,
they have brought into practice the teachings of
these Holy books.
EIGHTH, TOTAL TRUST IN ALLAH‫ﷻ‬ WILL
SUFFICE.
I saw that all the people of this world depend
and rely on such things that are creation
itself. Some depend on their fortune, some on
their business, some on their talents and skills
and some on their bodily strength and health
[that whenever & however I want, I will be able
to earn]. All these are creations itself with
limitations! Then I saw that Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said;
And whoever puts their trust in Allah‫ﷻ‬, then
He alone is sufficient for them. [65:3]
That whomsoever puts their trust & faith in
Allah ‫ﷻ‬, Allah ‫ﷻ‬ will be enough for him!
Therefore, I placed my complete trust & faith
in Allah ‫ﷻ‬. 8

“Niyyah” is an Arabic word which literally means ‘intention.’ It is an essential
and basic prerequisite for performing any form of Ibadah and/or good deed.

Niyyah refers to the motive behind an act. There are three
aspects to Niyyah:
To be aware of the deed and not just do it out of habit. Our
intention helps us to distinguish an ordinary act from an
act for worship
1.
To be mindful of which specific act is been carried out, be
well aware of the time.
2.
The intention for the One for whom the act is carried out.
When we are conscious of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, it is natural that we
only act upon that which pleases Allah ‫ﷻ‬ only.
3.
36
UNDER
STANDING
THE
VALUE
OF
INTEN-
TIONS:
IMPORTANCE
The Messenger ‫ﷺ‬ of Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said,
“The reward of deeds depends upon the
intention and every person will get the reward
according to what he has intended. So whoever
emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then his
emigration was for Allah and His Apostle. And
whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a
woman to marry, his emigration was for what
he emigrated for.” (Sahih Bukhari, Kitab-ul-
Imaan, Hadith No. 53)
Whether in a verbal or non-verbal form,
the purpose of making Niyyah before
performing any good deed is to remind
your soul (inner self) that you are doing
this act with the intention to seek the
pleasure and blessings of Allah ‫ﷻ‬.
BENEFIT
With pure intention comes great
reward. Hence, to be successful in life,
every Muslim must have the purest of
intentions because Allah ‫ﷻ‬ prioritizes
your Niyyah over the actual deed. Even a
small deed for the sake of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, can
be rewarded greatly.
“You will get what you intended”
“O Allah! The controller of the hearts, direct our hearts to Your obedience”

All praises to Allah (swt) who
created everything when it didn't
even existed, who created the
living and non living things. who
created us Humans, gave us a life.
Allah gave us privilege to join
madarsa so that we can become
successful in the duniya and
akhirah. In the holy Qur'an it is
mentioned in Surah al Kahaf;
Filled with memories
perspectives. Yet Allah chose us
from different points of life
however, we heard in schools from
family members and friends that
only uneducated students, failures
and school dropouts join madarsa
to live their daily lives as a middle
class or to become a preacher with
less income but we realised the
truth when we joined madarsa.
Learning a totally new language
we never heard in our lives except
the holy Qur'an. The true life of
being successful is in the madarsa
life.
Also this holy verse mentioned in
the Qur'an
‫ال‬ ‫والذين‬ ‫يعلمون‬ ‫الذين‬ ‫يستوي‬ ‫هل‬ ‫قل‬
‫يعلمون‬
Translation: say, "are those who
know equal to those who do not
know?".
Our journey as classmates started
in the year 2020. We were 12
classmates in the beginning. We
faced alot of problems adjusting
with each other because we were
from different family backgrounds,
environment, schools and we had
different goals in life from different
40
if you turn all the trees into pen and
all the water into ink and start
praising Allah ( s.w.t) everything will
come to an end but the praises won't
finish.
Concluding into our final year
known as Almiya class. After three
years of faith and patience we
finally reached the last level of our
ilm course. In this last year, we
had shortage of time, loads of
memories and filled with sorrows
like getting departed from
classmates and teachers. Within
this period of time we overcame
many Problems with the help of
Allah (s.w.t) and there were many
circumstances that tried to stop us
from studying; as shatan promised
Allah (s.w.t) that he will stop his
servants from getting close to
Allah (s.w.t). We praised Allah
(s.w.t) and we defeated Shaitan in
every pain, stress and happiness.
Finally we did the final exams of
our student life at ALC it was quite
tough but alhamdullillah we were
able to manage them.
We are really great full to Allah
(s.w.t) as he mentioned in the holy
Qur'an: “ remember me I will
remember you and be great full to
me and don't deny me” . (2:187)
Our message to the world is leave
this duniya and come towards
Allah (s.w.t) ; trust us the
experience to getting close to
Allah (s.w.t) and seeking the
knowledge of the beautiful Islam is
better than everything in this
world. And also we would like to
thank all the people supporting
behind us financially or physically
and the madarsa which provides
us with good facilities & services.
Here comes the first year known
as the amma class which contains
Urdu books and some Arabic
which dazzled our mind. It was
quite an experience getting taught
by teachers from different fields.
As days passed by we were half
way through our syllabus when
we heard the effects of COVID 19
in our country. Things got messed
up and we were suddenly sent
home,, curfews, quarantine, social
distancing got in place. It was
really hard to study from home.
The consequences of this disease
made 5 of our members drop out
because of inflation deflation,
family problems. And a bit of
poverty which is why we couldn't
get connected to each other and
they couldn't join back.
Alhamdullillah we were left with 7
members. One from Nausori , one
from Suva, one from Nadi and
one from new Zealand , three
from Labasa. We studied online
and continued with our syllabus.
After 4 months we returned to
madarsa again and completed our
course with final exams.
Alhamdullillah we achieved good
marks. “ Hope and hardwork gives
good results”
Moving on to the year 2021 ilm
course year 2 which is known as
khasa was the most difficult year
out of all years of studies. Where
all books were in Arabic “ blow
our minds” the effects of COVID
19 were still in place and even got
worse.
We had to go back home again
for 6 months with the same
struggles but we managed to go
through it. Our teachers worked
hard just to teach us so that we
could maintain our studies. After
this time frame of 6 months we
were able to come back and
revise for exams, except for 2
members who were still not able
to come back, and did their exams
online. However our NZ
classmate wasn't able to go back
for 2 years because of the
circumstances of COVID 19.
Alhamdullillah we completed our
second year of ilm course by the
help of Allah ( s.w.t) “ life is like
taking an exam when we pass it or
fail it we'll learn which answer is
right or wrong.”
Furthermore year 2022 know as
Aliya class the 3rd year of ilm
course,was the most exciting year.
After facing two years of hardship,
we finally had our full year of
studies and memories. Our very
first experience getting lessons by
a male teacher in Parda. This
platform of studies was
outstanding. We started bukhari
sharif. We celebrated, both eids,
Teachers days, Fiji day and alot
more. We also had an excursion
trip. We also did the final exams
and achieved good marks. “
Love of Allah makes us forgive,
keeps us away from hurting
anyone and helps us to have
everyone's value in our hearts.”

  • 4. All praise is due to Allah ‫ﷻ‬ who has blessed us with the power of Imaan and knowledge. Salutations to our beloved Prophet (SAW). I am truly honoured and privileged to serve as the Director of Aesha Learning Center (ALC). I thank the Management and staff for their energetic effort throughout the year. At ALC, education is not just the amount of information that is put into a child’s brain, we focus on the practical aspects of Islam. This develops a student to become a practicing Aalima/ Hafiza, capable of finding solutions for the contemporary problems in the daily life of a Muslim. Our teachers are committed to working hard to help the students achieve their full potential. I would like the parents to know that my door is always open to discuss any concerns, questions, or ideas you may have regarding your child’s education. We are grateful to all generous sponsors and donors for their contributions. May Allah bless you in abundance. I hope that all of you feel proud of being a part of this blessed Islamic School. We, at Aesha Learning Center, ensure quality Islamic education which motivates and empowers our students. This has been a very eventful year. Grateful to Allah for guiding us through this. The huge number of enrollments we had throughout the year was quite surprising. The conern of parents regarding their child’s Islamic Knowledge is commendable. We firmly believe that the parents are their child’s first and most important teacher. Parents play a vital role in the education of their children. We happily welcome all our parents to take an active role in the education of their children. I am eager to work with parents in supporting their children in their education. My commitment to our community is to lead the school with best Islamic Knowledge. Let us work together to make ALC as the best school it can be. Sincere thanks to all who have helped ALC. May Allah reward you immensely. N. • 6. In the name of Allah (SWT) the most Beneficent, the most Merciful. Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, Alhamdulillah (all praise be to Allah), by the grace of the Almighty we have come to an end of an academic year. On behalf of Fiji Muslim Women’s League and the National Executive Committee, I feel greatly honoured to be given this opportunity to Congratulate all the students that will be graduating today. I hope they were able to strive to achieve the goals they had to set for themselves at the beginning of the term. Islam simply means peace, purity, acceptance and commitment. In a religious context it means complete submission to the will Of Allah. Islam is a way of life, a combination of spiritual, moral and Material values of faith and worship, a code of conduct and a Complete system of guidance. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Aesha Learning Center we sincerely appreciate the role of ALC in our Muslim Community, We having been working with them for many years in the past and hope so to continue this dawaah journey with them. We also like to acknowledge the principal Sister Nadia Khan and her staffs for their hard work and effort in motivating and educating the Muslim Women’s Community. And a tremendous effort to make The Dawaah workshop and The Islamic inheritance (will workshop) a great success. And the dedication and sincerity in FMWL 2023 Tilawat-e- Quran And Urdu Oratory Competition. We are extremely proud of what ALC is doing in educating the Muslim Women’s and Girls towards deen and right path of Islam. Their guidance, patience and encouragement have played a pivotal role in helping us to navigate through the challenges, and educating the ummah. Fiji Muslim Women’s League is committed to provide avenues in developing Islamic leadership qualities and competencies in our Muslim Women’s and Youths. It sees them as potentials that needs attention through various activities and programs we organize for our women and youths. We need to do our part in providing guidance to the leaders of the future, today! Let’s not take this matter lightly What we saw today, is what we reap tomorrow, hence time and investment in youth today is absolutely important. May Allah swt richly bless ALC, the principal, its staff and to all those who help, support and work with it. May Almighty Allah’s choicest blessing be upon you all. May he reward all accordingly on the day of Judgement. Ameen., the principal, its staff and to all those who help, support and work with it. May Almighty Allah’s choicest blessing be upon you all. May he reward all accordingly on the day of Judgement. Ameen. Lastly I would like to thank all FMWL Branches and officials for choosing me to lead this prestigious organization and my enormous thanks goes to all of them for their hard work and dedication. They provide Khidmah in serving Deen through FMWL to please Allah. While we enjoy today, let’s pray and not forget about the unfortunates around the world who are living in state of oppression, starvation, poverty and illness. May Allah ease and resolve all their issues. May Allah give shifa to all those who are sick and grant all the marhoom and marhoomas highest abode in Jannat-ul- firdaus. Ameen. • 8. Editor’s Note Do it for the sake of ALLAH! The first hadith we teach at ALC is "Actions are dependent upon their intentions". Our actions will only be rewarded if we do it with the right intention. What is the right intention? The intention to please ALLAH! The messenger of Allah (SAW) said: " Whoever pleases Allah by angering the people, Allah will suffice him, but whoever angers Allah by pleasing the people, Allah will leave him to the people". Don't worry about what other's think. Life is not about pleasing people but Allah. Do ibadah to please Allah. Give charity to please Allah, help people for the sake of Allah . Trust Allah when things don't work out the way you want. Allah has something better planned for you. Allah’s timing is perfect in every matter. We don't always understand the wisdom behind it but we have to learn to trust it. Allah says in the Quran: " He will give you something better than what was taken from you" [Surah Anfal: Ayat 70] . AsmaRazak EDITOR-IN-CHIEF It is my pleasure to present you this magazine Al-Hilaal. Thankful to all who have contributed. It wouldn't have been possible without Allah’s guidance. Kind reminder for all to do good deeds for the sake of ALLAH only. May Allah reward our deeds with highest ranks in Jannah! For everything you Lose there is a replacement, But for Allah, if you lose him there is no replacement ‫إن‬‫هلل‬‫وليس‬‫عوض‬‫فارقتك‬‫إذا‬‫شيء‬‫لكل‬ ‫عوض‬‫من‬‫فارقت‬ 8

  • 10. Aesha Learning Center is one of the first Islamic girls institute in the South Pacific providing its services to the Ummah since 2005. All our credits go to the Almighty Allah alone, for he has eased our paths to reach where we are today, Alhamdulillah. It started with Basic Islamic Knowledge only with very few students. Currently there are a total of 180 students which includes boarding and Saturday Class students, ladies and Online Class students. Aesha Learning Center, runs an accelerated learning programme for students seeking extra qualifications towards religious education. Aesha Learning Center has been successful in achieving its goals and has produced many confident and independent women who are contributing positively to the society. For the last 18 years ALC has graduated an approximate of 76 Alimahs, 25 Hafizas and 20 well- trained teachers. Approximately 300 students have studied at this institute. Started conducting more workshops since this year in collaboration with FMWL. Grateful for FMWL to give privilege to ALC teachers to judge their Quran Tilawat and Oratory Competition. Also started online classes for graduate students as a refresher course. Thanks to all staffs, parents, caregivers, donors and well-wishers who have contributed to the success of this madarsa. It is the centre of attraction for many parents, therefore a number of students have taken advantage by memorizing the Holy Qur’aan or taken its depth islamic studies. Alhamdulillah, the madarsa has progressed very well since its inception. The curriculum includes subjects such as Quran with Tajweed, Hadith, Fiqh, Arabic and General Islamic Knowledge. The school places a high priority on giving its students an excellent education. We make every effort to teach our students the great values of Islam that respects every individual's rights. And that they gain knowledge in every aspect of life hence, be proud of their achievements. The school was established by Maulana Faiyaz Ali Khan & his wife Muallimah Nadia Khan for girls, seeing a huge gap in girl’s education towards Islam. The institute provides free Islamic education to the females in the South Pacific. It is a private institute, registered as a religious body, which solely runs on donations. The institute raises funds through donations from individuals. These funds are used to support school operations and provide best service to the students. Our students are from all over Fiji such as Suva, Nausori, Navua, Rakiraki, Tavua, Ba, Lautoka, Nadi, Sigatoka, Labasa, Taveuni, etc. We also have students from New Zealand. • 32. Story of A Pious Predecessor An exceptional story of a special student named Hazrat Hatem Asem ؒ who was the disciple of Hazrat Shaqiq Balakhiؒ. One day Hazrat Shaqiq Balakhiؒ asked his student, Hazrat Hatemؒ, “How long have you been in my company?” Hazrat Hatem ؒ said: “For the last 33 years.” Hazrat Shaqiq ؒ asked, “What have you learnt from me during this period?” Hazrat Hatemؒ said, “I have learnt only eight things.” Hazrat Shaqiqؒ got very demotivated upon hearing this. He asked, “You have not learnt except eight things!” Hazrat Hatemؒ replied, “Yes, O dear teacher, I have learnt nothing except eight things. I do not wish to speak falsehood.” Hazrat Shaqiqؒ asked, “Ok, let me hear them. Describe those eight things to me.” Hazrat Hatem Asimؒ began to describe them. He said, Translated by Muallimah Sumaiyah Razak 8 UNIQUE LIFE LESSONS 32
  • 33. SECONDLY, LIVING A LIFE OF OBEDIENCE AND RESTRAIN IN THIS WORLD WILL LEAD TO PARADISE. When I pondered and reflected on this verse of the Holy Quran; And as for those who were in awe of standing before their Lord and restrained themselves from evil desires, paradise will certainly be their home. [79 :40-41] I knew this to be the truth and so I controlled my desires to such an extent that it became firmly fixed on the obedience of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. THIRDLY, SAVE YOUR MOST VALUED POSSESSIONS IN THE BANK OF AKHIRAH WHICH WILL LAST FOREVER. I saw that people would take great care of their valuables, keeping them very well protected and safe. Then I came across this verse in the Holy Quran; Whatever you have will end, but whatever Allah‫ﷻ‬ has is everlasting. And We will certainly reward the steadfast according to the best of their deeds. [16:96] Upon learning about the temporariness of the worldly things from this Ayat, whenever I had something which I valued most, I would send it to Allah ‫ﷻ‬ [give it in sadqah in the path of Allah SWT] so that it could be kept safe and well protected for me forever. FOURTH, THE BEST RECOGNITION AND FAME IS THAT WHICH IS IN THE SIGHT OF ALLAH ‫ﷻ‬. When I looked towards creation, I saw people getting pulled towards wealth, fame in order to rise themselves in status and recognition. But the reality was that all these recognitions was insignificant in the greater schelme of things. When I saw what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said in this Ayat: Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware. I chose to gain recognition in the sight of Allah SWT by living a life of piety. FIRSTLY, GOOD DEEDS ARE THE LOYALIST COMPANION, EVERYONE ELSE LEAVES. When I looked towards the creation, I saw everyone had a love for something or someone, example their wife/ husband/ children/ wealth/ relatives, etc., which they lived with, but when they die, they go alone, and their loved ones are left behind. So, I choose to love good deeds so that when I leave this world it will accompany me. 1 2 3 4 33
  • 34. FIFTH, THE DISTRIBUTION OF RIZK [WEALTH] IS IN THE HANDS OF ALLAH. BEING JEALOUS OF PEOPLE SERVES NO PURPOSE. When I looked towards the creation, I saw people bad mouthing one another looking for flaws and backbiting. All these because of greed and jealousy! When I saw what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said; We have allocated among them their livelihood in the worldly life and have raised some of them over others in ranks, so that some of them may put some others to work. And the mercy of your Lord is much better than what they accumulate. [43:32] Because of this verse, I stopped being jealous and stopped being bothered by what people did or thought. I knew that the distribution of rizk [wealth] was only in the control of Allah ‫ﷻ‬ and He would give whom he wanted whatever amount He wanted. Therefore, I left the hatred of people and understood that the wealth of people increasing or decreasing was not in total control of them. This was all from the king of all Kingdoms [Malikul Mulk]. And so, I do not feel any anger towards people at all now. SIXTH, THE ONE AND ONLY ENEMY OF THE BELIEVERS IS SHAITAN. When I looked towards people of this world, I saw almost everyone had some sort of fight or enormity with someone. When I looked towards what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said in the Quran; Surely Satan is an enemy to you, so take him as an enemy. He only invites his followers to become inmates of the Blaze. [35:6] I chose to make my enemy shaitan and tried my best to stay away from him since Allah ‫ﷻ‬ had told us of shaitan being our enemy. So, I removed my enormity from everyone else. SEVENTH, SUSTENANCE IS ALREADY WRITTEN FOR US THEREFORE USING UNLAWFUL MEANS FOR WHAT IS ALREADY WRITTEN IS COUNTERPRODUCTIVE. I saw that all the people of this world were busy in the search for sustenance and in this search, they would humiliate themselves and use unlawful means, and when I looked towards what Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said; There is no moving creature on earth whose provision is not guaranteed by Allah‫ﷻ‬. And He knows where it lives and where it is laid to rest. All is written in a perfect Record. [11:6] Upon reflection on this fact that I am also from those walking on earth for whom sustenance is the responsibility of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, so I decided to spend my time on those things within my control which Allah ‫ﷻ‬ has made compulsory and mandatory on me, and I freed myself from that which was not in my control rather it was in the control and the responsibility of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. 5 7 6 34
  • 35. Hazrat Shaqiq ؒ said; Hatim ؒ may Allah ‫ﷻ‬ gift you ease in doing good deeds. The sum total of all that you have understood and just mentioned is the condensed version of the teachings of the four Holy books of Islam [Tauraat, Zabur, Injeel, Quran Majeed]. Whom so ever brings into practice these eight points, they have brought into practice the teachings of these Holy books. EIGHTH, TOTAL TRUST IN ALLAH‫ﷻ‬ WILL SUFFICE. I saw that all the people of this world depend and rely on such things that are creation itself. Some depend on their fortune, some on their business, some on their talents and skills and some on their bodily strength and health [that whenever & however I want, I will be able to earn]. All these are creations itself with limitations! Then I saw that Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said; And whoever puts their trust in Allah‫ﷻ‬, then He alone is sufficient for them. [65:3] That whomsoever puts their trust & faith in Allah ‫ﷻ‬, Allah ‫ﷻ‬ will be enough for him! Therefore, I placed my complete trust & faith in Allah ‫ﷻ‬. 8 ‫خيرا‬ ‫كن‬ ‫الخيرلك‬ ‫وسيعود‬ Source: Ihya Uloom ud Deen Be good and good will come to you 35

There are three aspects to Niyyah: To be aware of the deed and not just do it out of habit. Our intention helps us to distinguish an ordinary act from an act for worship 1. To be mindful of which specific act is been carried out, be well aware of the time. 2. The intention for the One for whom the act is carried out. When we are conscious of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, it is natural that we only act upon that which pleases Allah ‫ﷻ‬ only. 3. 36
  • 37. UNDER STANDING THE VALUE OF INTEN- TIONS: IMPORTANCE The Messenger ‫ﷺ‬ of Allah ‫ﷻ‬ said, “The reward of deeds depends upon the intention and every person will get the reward according to what he has intended. So whoever emigrated for Allah and His Apostle, then his emigration was for Allah and His Apostle. And whoever emigrated for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration was for what he emigrated for.” (Sahih Bukhari, Kitab-ul- Imaan, Hadith No. 53) Whether in a verbal or non-verbal form, the purpose of making Niyyah before performing any good deed is to remind your soul (inner self) that you are doing this act with the intention to seek the pleasure and blessings of Allah ‫ﷻ‬. BENEFIT With pure intention comes great reward. Hence, to be successful in life, every Muslim must have the purest of intentions because Allah ‫ﷻ‬ prioritizes your Niyyah over the actual deed. Even a small deed for the sake of Allah ‫ﷻ‬, can be rewarded greatly. “You will get what you intended” “O Allah! Yet Allah chose us from different points of life however, we heard in schools from family members and friends that only uneducated students, failures and school dropouts join madarsa to live their daily lives as a middle class or to become a preacher with less income but we realised the truth when we joined madarsa. Learning a totally new language we never heard in our lives except the holy Qur'an. The true life of being successful is in the madarsa life. Also this holy verse mentioned in the Qur'an ‫ال‬ ‫والذين‬ ‫يعلمون‬ ‫الذين‬ ‫يستوي‬ ‫هل‬ ‫قل‬ ‫يعلمون‬ Translation: say, "are those who know equal to those who do not know?". Our journey as classmates started in the year 2020. We were 12 classmates in the beginning. We faced alot of problems adjusting with each other because we were from different family backgrounds, environment, schools and we had different goals in life from different 40 if you turn all the trees into pen and all the water into ink and start praising Allah ( s.w.t) everything will come to an end but the praises won't finish.
  • 41. Concluding into our final year known as Almiya class. After three years of faith and patience we finally reached the last level of our ilm course. In this last year, we had shortage of time, loads of memories and filled with sorrows like getting departed from classmates and teachers. Within this period of time we overcame many Problems with the help of Allah (s.w.t) and there were many circumstances that tried to stop us from studying; as shatan promised Allah (s.w.t) that he will stop his servants from getting close to Allah (s.w.t). We praised Allah (s.w.t) and we defeated Shaitan in every pain, stress and happiness. Finally we did the final exams of our student life at ALC it was quite tough but alhamdullillah we were able to manage them. We are really great full to Allah (s.w.t) as he mentioned in the holy Qur'an: “ remember me I will remember you and be great full to me and don't deny me” . (2:187) Our message to the world is leave this duniya and come towards Allah (s.w.t) ; trust us the experience to getting close to Allah (s.w.t) and seeking the knowledge of the beautiful Islam is better than everything in this world. And also we would like to thank all the people supporting behind us financially or physically and the madarsa which provides us with good facilities & services. Here comes the first year known as the amma class which contains Urdu books and some Arabic which dazzled our mind. It was quite an experience getting taught by teachers from different fields. As days passed by we were half way through our syllabus when we heard the effects of COVID 19 in our country. Things got messed up and we were suddenly sent home,, curfews, quarantine, social distancing got in place. It was really hard to study from home. The consequences of this disease made 5 of our members drop out because of inflation deflation, family problems. And a bit of poverty which is why we couldn't get connected to each other and they couldn't join back. Alhamdullillah we were left with 7 members. One from Nausori , one from Suva, one from Nadi and one from new Zealand , three from Labasa. We studied online and continued with our syllabus. After 4 months we returned to madarsa again and completed our course with final exams. Alhamdullillah we achieved good marks. “ Hope and hardwork gives good results” Moving on to the year 2021 ilm course year 2 which is known as khasa was the most difficult year out of all years of studies. Where all books were in Arabic “ blow our minds” the effects of COVID 19 were still in place and even got worse. We had to go back home again for 6 months with the same struggles but we managed to go through it. Our teachers worked hard just to teach us so that we could maintain our studies. After this time frame of 6 months we were able to come back and revise for exams, except for 2 members who were still not able to come back, and did their exams online. However our NZ classmate wasn't able to go back for 2 years because of the circumstances of COVID 19. Alhamdullillah we completed our second year of ilm course by the help of Allah ( s.w.t) “ life is like taking an exam when we pass it or fail it we'll learn which answer is right or wrong.” Furthermore year 2022 know as Aliya class the 3rd year of ilm course, was the most exciting year. After facing two years of hardship, we finally had our full year of studies and memories. Our very first experience getting lessons by a male teacher in Parda. This platform of studies was outstanding. We started bukhari sharif. We celebrated, both eids, Teachers days, Fiji day and alot more. We also had an excursion trip. We also did the final exams and achieved good marks. “ Love of Allah makes us forgive, keeps us away from hurting anyone and helps us to have everyone's value in our hearts.” ‫األنبياء‬‫ورثة‬‫العلماء‬ Scholarsaretheinheritors oftheProphets 41

May Allah Guide us all to the right path ‫ذنبك‬ ‫وغفر‬ ‫التقوى‬ ‫اهلل‬ ‫زودك‬ ‫كنت‬‫حيثما‬‫الخير‬‫لك‬‫ويسر‬ May Allah Ta’ala grant you the provision of Taqwa, may He forgive you your sins, may He grant you good wherever you go. All the very best to our Graduates. Knowledge is that which benefits, not which is memorized. The essence of knowledge is to know what obedience and worship are. Looking forward to our new students and praying for a better akhirah for all our students.
